Dominic Piccininni reposted thisDominic Piccininni reposted thisBernard Marcus, co-founder of Atlanta-based The Home Depot chain of home-improvement stores, died late Monday at the age of 95 in Boca Raton. He masterminded and financed downtown’s Georgia Aquarium, and supported a multitude of charitable causes. Later in life, he publicly committed to giving away the vast majority of his remaining wealth. By late 2024, his foundation said it had donated well over $2 billion. “I think I would like people to remember me for what I did, for my attempt to leave the world a better place," Marcus told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution as he prepared to open the aquarium in late 2005. "I’d like to know I made an impact.” Read more about his life 🕊 : https://lnkd.in/eMA4eRHV

Moments like this make you pause and reflect on the people who made it possible. I'm incredibly grateful to the Shoals Technologies Group team, whose passion, resilience, and commitment to our customers show up every day. Many of you have dedicated years, and in some cases decades, to building this company into what it is today. Thank you for believing in what's possible, for embracing change, for solving tough challenges, and for always putting our customers first. This milestone is yours as much as anyone's. Dominic Piccininni liked thisDominic Piccininni liked thisFrank Blake took the CEO job at Home Depot on a contract with no severance. The man he replaced had just left with $210 million. Here's why that difference reset the company: In January 2007 Bob Nardelli resigned from Home Depot after 6 years. Shareholders had spent years objecting to his pay. He left with a severance package worth roughly $210 million. Blake was already an executive inside the company. He got the job. His base salary was set at $975,000. Nardelli had been earning roughly $24 million a year on average. And Blake's arrangement carried no severance on termination. If the board removed him, he left with nothing. Then he changed the chart. He brought back the inverted pyramid from Home Depot's early years. Customers at the top. Store associates directly beneath them. The CEO at the very bottom. Nardelli's Home Depot had run the other way up. Command from Atlanta, metrics pushed down, store managers executing instructions. Blake put himself at the bottom of the drawing and told the company his job was to serve the people in the orange aprons. Then he made it cost him something. Every Sunday he wrote thank you notes by hand to store employees who had solved a customer's problem. Not an email to all staff. Notes, by hand, every week. Here's what most leaders miss: your people do not read your values statement. They read your incentives and your calendar. The contract set a new number for what the top job was worth. The notes said where he thought the value in the company actually sat. Most leaders announce a culture change and keep the same pay structure, the same org chart and the same calendar. Then they are surprised when nothing moves. That is exactly the gap the 2026 Leadership Reality Report was built to expose. Comment REPORT and I'll send you the 2026 Leadership Reality Report.

At our College Station, Texas store, we were especially honored to welcome U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Brooke Rollins (USDA), along with National 4-H Council and National FFA Organization, to the celebration. Store Manager Jorge Rodriguez and Assistant Store Manager Bea Grant did a fantastic job hosting. And a special thanks to Jodi Tepper and our Marketing team for all the work that went into making Harvest Fest happen across the country. Days like today are a great reminder of what Tractor Supply is all about: supporting the people and communities we are fortunate to serve.

Dominic Piccininni liked thisGrowth creates opportunities for our customers, employees and communities. That's why I'm excited about today's announcement because it is a great example of that in action. As demand for critical power infrastructure continues to accelerate, we're focused on helping customers move faster with greater certainty. Just as important, we're investing in the talent, skills and manufacturing capabilities that will power the next generation of growth. That’s what I call Playing to Win! I’m proud of the many teams and community partners who helped bring this vision together, and even more excited about what comes next.Dominic Piccininni liked thisThe future of critical infrastructure is being built today, and we're investing to help make it possible. We have announced a more than $242 million investment in a new manufacturing facility in North Little Rock, Arkansas. The 1 million-square-foot site is expected to create more than 1,200 jobs and double our U.S. manufacturing capacity for customized modular electrical enclosures. This expansion strengthens our ability to support customers across data center, utility, industrial and digital communications markets while investing in the people and communities that make growth possible. Best Buy’s latest earnings report offers a good snapshot of where the consumer electronics sector stands right now: stable profitability, cautious demand, and continued structural change in the category. The company reported Q4 adjusted EPS of $2.61, beating expectations, while revenue came in at $13.8B with comparable sales down 0.8% year over year. Strength in computing and mobile phones helped offset weakness in categories like home theater and appliances. From my perspective as a former Best Buy employee, there are a few encouraging signals here: 🔹 Best Buy continues to maintain market share in a challenging consumer electronics cycle 🔹 New growth engines like marketplace expansion and retail media (Best Buy Ads) are gaining traction 🔹 The company is demonstrating discipline on margins and operating costs, even in a softer demand environment At the same time, the outlook reflects the reality of the category: consumers remain cautious with big-ticket technology purchases, and guidance for the coming year suggests relatively modest growth. What will matter most going forward, in my view, is how Best Buy continues to lean into the elements that have differentiated it for years: 👉 Expertise and services (Geek Squad, installation, tech support) 👉 Experiential retail in a category that still benefits from physical discovery 👉 Vendor partnerships and shop-in-shop ecosystems 👉 Expanding platform economics through marketplace and advertising As a long-time merchant in the space, I can confirm that consumer electronics retail has always been cyclical, but Best Buy’s ability to evolve its model — from pure product retailing to services, ecosystems, and platforms — will ultimately determine how it performs in the next phase of the industry. #Retail #BestBuy #RetailEarnings #ConsumerElectronics #RetailStrategy #Omnichannel #RetailInnovation #RetailMedia #FutureOfRetail

Target, Walmart, and Best Buy are redesigning store operations to align more closely with e-commerce and retail media. Target is adjusting store layouts to separate fulfillment and in-person shopping. Best Buy's marketplace now offers 11 times more SKUs than physical locations and supports in-store media placements from partners like Meta and ESPN. Retail media is becoming central to these companies' strategies, not only generating ad revenue but also influencing traffic, inventory movement, and partner collaboration. https://lnkd.in/dvSDEBpb

DIY retail store resets may reduce upfront vendor costs, but hidden expenses—including overtime, inconsistent execution, delays, and opportunity cost—often increase total operational impact. Professional reset partners provide predictable costs, standardized execution, and reduced strain on internal teams. Read the full story: https://lnkd.in/gWygXBu4

Kohl's Q3 results: 💰 Total sales: -3.9% 🛍️ Comp sales: -2.8% 📈 Net income: +160.4% Another quarter. Another decline. A drop of 3.9% in total sales may not look terrible, but it comes off the back of a string of declines. Indeed, Kohl's Q4 sales are down by 23.9% since the same period in 2019. Moreover, Kohl's customers' total spending (across all retailers) was up 2.7% over last year for this period. So it's not like they're retrenching - they're just spending less at Kohl's. The problem is that Kohl's is still not showing up for shoppers in the right way. Messy stores. Lackluster assortments. Too much mess. Too much clutter. Weird pricing. There have been some attempts to remedy the issues - but they are piecemeal and patchy. The saving grace is the strengthening of the profit line. Some is down to more discipline in operation. But some is also technical: an artificially low profit last year because of one-off costs, repayment of some debt (by issuing notes with a higher interest rate), and so forth. These things buy time, but they don't mitigate the necessity of growing the sales line. The trajectory is just not convincing: at best sales will be flat in 2026. #retail #Kohls #departmentstores
