Ed Czajkowski liked thisEd Czajkowski liked thisThere are people that you meet along your journey that you know instantaneously will be a friend for life. Fred Sultan is one of those persons. We first met years ago when he was president of the LGBTQ Law Section of the Austin Bar Association, I was president of the Austin Black Lawyers Association and Manuel Escobar was president of the Hispanic Bar Association of Austin. It began with a discussion regarding the Austin Law Firm Diversity Report Card and led to an in depth conversation regarding how we help lawyers as a whole. What struck me immediately about Fred was not only his attention to detail, but his general empathy towards those who need help, his defense of marginalized communities, and his heart of gold. He’s just a good person. So it didn’t surprise me when the LGBTQ+ Bar honored him with an award for his leadership. Manny and I had to be there. There really isn’t anyone more deserving of this honor. Congratulations Fred. We know you’re too humble to speak about the accomplishments you’ve achieved and the lives of people you’ve impacted, but it’s seen, noticed, and appreciated man. The Bar and this State is better because of your leadership. Thank you for being you.
