Frank Camera liked thisFrank Camera liked thisToday was one of those days that reminded me just how much we can learn from one another. ❤️ I’m so proud to have attended today’s Salinas Regional Women’s Fresh Perspectives event as Chair of the International Fresh Produce Association Women’s Fresh Perspectives Committee. I’m even more grateful for Nicole Minnich Zapata, Loree Curtis DowseLoree Curtis Dowse, Charis Neves, and Leslie SurberCharis Neves, and Leslie Surber who were willing to share their experiences, lessons and wisdom so openly with all of us. There were SO many good nuggets, but these are the four I keep thinking about: ✨ Curiosity will lead to some of your greatest opportunities. Ask the question, even when you’re worried you might look inexperienced. Being curious shows people that you care, that you’re thinking and that you want to grow. 🚪 Mentorship can bring more value than you realize. Sometimes you just have to knock on the door. Ask the CEO for 20 minutes. Reach out to the person whose career you admire. There is so much wisdom around us, and you might be surprised how willing people are to share it when you simply ask. ❤️ Vulnerability is a superpower, not a weakness. You don’t need a poker face to be a strong leader. You can care deeply. You can show emotion. You can admit when you don’t know something. None of those things make you less capable. In fact, they may be some of the very things that make people trust you most. 🙋♀️ Take the opportunity before you feel ready for it. Imposter syndrome will probably have something to say about it. Let it talk, then take the chance anyway. I think what I loved most about today was the reminder that leadership isn’t about having all the answers. It’s about being curious enough to ask, brave enough to knock on the door and confident enough to show up as yourself. I left today feeling really grateful for this community and for the women who continue to make space for other women to learn, grow and lead. 💚 Nikki Wootten

Frank Camera liked thisFrank Camera liked thisWe won People's Choice Best Booth at CPMA this year. Which is funny because I'm pretty sure we didn't have the best booth. We had a man-cave-esque setup with a vintage NES-controlled video game about selling bananas. People got weirdly competitive. At some point I watched senior produce executives yelling at a screen while trying to catch virtual banana boxes and thought: Is this really my job? Anyway, we're building another one for Global Show. Obviously. #4083 International Fresh Produce Association Canadian Produce Marketing Association (CPMA) Equifruit

Frank Camera liked thisFrank Camera liked thisYou need to apply for the International Fresh Produce Association Leadership Program. For my entire produce career, my personality has been 100% bananas. I just completed my third trip with Class 30, and this program has totally pulled me out of my little Banana Badass universe. A few things I’ve learned along the way: 👉 That the key to a good media interview is knowing your talking points and pretending your heart rate isn’t 147bpm. 👉 How stressing out tiny microbes so they poop out complex molecular patterns could revolutionize how we fertilize crops and manage disease. (Science is incredible.) 👉 America needs to start fibermaxxing. Seriously. You probably need to be eating, like, 10x what you are now. But the best part of this program, by far, has been getting to know the other members of Class 30. These are ambitious, curious, purposeful people who want to be great leaders, great managers, and to lift up everyone around them. Class 30, you’re all Baddies. ❤️ Angela Sommers Jacki Van Eerden Julia Weber Maile Frelinger Meg Dowley Rachel Bigby Belinda Van Schaik Jen Wiklandour Logan Nicely Wade Holland Nikki Wootten Joe Kelsay Now somebody please invent an excuse for us to get on another bus together. 🚌

Frank Camera liked thisFrank Camera liked thisThe face of agriculture is changing. The average American farmer is 58 and women now make up more than one-third of producers nationwide. That shift signals something bigger: a more inclusive, innovative future for farming. Frank Camera liked thisFrank Camera liked thisThis is a great op-ed to put into context the real trade value of the U.S./Mexico relationship. There is a misguided tendency to focus on overall trade value as a measure of success. However, overall trade value is one small piece of the puzzle. Looking at it on a per-capita basis, the Mexican consumer spends $241 per year on U.S. agricultural products. The average U.S. consumer only spends $132 on Mexican agricultural exports.Opinion: The myth of the U.S. agricultural trade deficit with MexicoOpinion: The myth of the U.S. agricultural trade deficit with Mexico

Pistachio Importers: Take Note! The USDA Agricultural Marketing Service (AMS) has released updated guidance for filing pistachio imports under the MO5 message set. All raw and blanched, shelled, and inshell pistachios (HTS 0802.52.0000 & 0802.51.0000) must now include the Estimated Arrival Date in filings. For processed pistachios (HTS 2008.19.3020), use the MO3 or MO4 message set to streamline release and avoid delays. AMS also reminds importers to meet aflatoxin testing standards—no more than 15 parts per billion per lot. USDA releases plan to fortify beef industry U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Brooke Rollins announced a new plan to support America’s cattle producers. The document, titled “USDA Plan to Fortify the American Beef Industry: Strengthening Ranches, Rebuilding Capacity, and Lowering Costs for Consumers,” was released Oct. 22. “America’s food supply chain is a national security priority for the Trump Administration. We are committed to ensuring the American people have an affordable source of protein and that America’s ranchers have a strong economic environment where they can continue to operate for generations to come,” said Secretary Brooke Rollins. “At USDA we are protecting our beef industry and incentivizing new ranchers to take up the noble vocation of ranching. Today, USDA will immediately expedite deregulatory reforms, boost processing capacity, including getting more locally raised beef into schools, and working across the government to fix longstanding common-sense barriers for ranchers like outdated grazing restrictions.” The plan focuses on three pillars: Protecting and improving the business of ranching Expanding processing, consumer transparency and market access Building... https://lnkd.in/gK3rVrcA
