Heejae Lim shared thisThe final piece in our series about being an AI-native organization, TalkingPoints’ Head of Engineering Aram Gugusian, looks ahead to the future of school–family collaboration. Today, our platform already goes far beyond translation. We help educators write stronger messages to families, share relevant learning activities families can do at home, and give district leaders real-time visibility and insight into what is happening across their schools. But this is just the start. AI is opening up new ways to strengthen these connections even further. If you’re thinking about the future of AI in education, Aram’s perspective is worth a read: https://lnkd.in/ewbwEQ9D #AIinEducation #EdTech #HumanCenteredAI #EducationInnovation #StudentSuccess #AIforGoodA 5-part series on breaking barriers, building trust, and driving educational equity with AIA 5-part series on breaking barriers, building trust, and driving educational equity with AI

Heejae Lim shared thisIn our ongoing series on being an AI-native organization, TalkingPoints' President, Claudine Ryan, tackles something especially relevant right now: AI is a critical lever for nonprofits that want to scale their impact. When used thoughtfully, AI can help teams operate more efficiently, learn more from their data, and expand access to services for the communities they serve. At TalkingPoints, we’re figuring this out in real time, and experimenting, learning, and sharing what we discover along the way. If you are thinking about how AI can accelerate social impact, Claudine’s perspective is worth a read. https://lnkd.in/g9sv8KFk #TalkingPoints #ScalingImpact #AIforGood #NonprofitInnovation #SocialImpact #MissionDrivenA 5-part series on breaking barriers, building trust, and driving educational equity with AIA 5-part series on breaking barriers, building trust, and driving educational equity with AI

Heejae Lim shared thisAt TalkingPoints, research has always been core to how we build and learn alongside educators and families. With the advances in AI, we can now conduct research at a speed scale that simply wasn’t possible before. In this piece, part of our series on being an AI-native nonprofit, our Director of Research, Mallary Swartz, explores how AI is supercharging our research team, helping us learn faster, test ideas more effectively, and deepen our understanding of what truly works for educators and families. https://lnkd.in/eQpmPfhU #AIinEducation #EdTech #HumanCenteredAI #TalkingPoints #EducationResearch #DataForGood10 years of TalkingPoints: How AI is transforming education for families and schools10 years of TalkingPoints: How AI is transforming education for families and schools

Heejae Lim shared thisAs part of our series on what it really means to be an AI-native organization, we’ve been sharing what we’ve learned from our work at TalkingPoints. In this post, David Golkin, who leads our R&D work, reflects on we have learned from supporting teachers with AI through Message Mentor. One lesson stands out clearly: start small, stay grounded in research, and remember that technology should serve people, not replace them. Message Mentor was designed to support teachers in communicating with families. Through this work, we have seen how thoughtful AI can reduce friction, build confidence, and help educators sustain meaningful conversations with families over time. Now we are building on that and using AI to send behavioral nudges that guide teachers in building trust and strong relationships with families from the beginning of the school year, as well as helping families reinforce learning at home. If you are thinking about what human-centered AI looks like in practice, David’s post is worth a read: https://lnkd.in/e9bbSVYK #AIinEducation #TalkingPoints #HumanCenteredAI #AIforGood10 years of TalkingPoints: How AI is transforming education for families and schools10 years of TalkingPoints: How AI is transforming education for families and schools

Heejae Lim shared thisI left ASU+GSV and TED this year thinking a lot about AI and the choices we're making now that will have consequences well into our future. In education, these decisions feel urgent. Will we use AI to automate and scale systems that already feel fragmented, or will we use it to strengthen human connection and relationships? At both conferences, there was a consistent theme that AI has the power to bring people closer together. I couldn't agree more. At TalkingPoints we know that strong relationships between educators and families measurably move the needle on student outcomes. Yet this isn't designed into our education system. Until that shifts, we’ll keep falling short on the outcomes that matter most for our kids. We have an opportunity right now to shape a future where AI doesn't divide or replace us, but facilitates stronger relationships and meaningful connections. I shared a few reflections from both conferences and what this could mean moving forward: https://lnkd.in/ev-JvmrU

Heejae Lim shared thisLast year, as TalkingPoints hit 10 years, we started a blog series on what it truly means to be an AI-native organization—especially since we’ve been building with AI long before it became a buzzword. For us, it’s never been about chasing new tech. It’s about being intentional and using AI to strengthen the connection between schools and families, because that’s what really moves the needle for students. In the first post, Christopher Dudak, our Senior Manager of Product Management, shares how being a product leader, linguist, and parent shapes how he approaches this work. His reflections highlight something we care deeply about: technology must be designed with empathy, cultural understanding, and trust at its core. When AI is built this way, it doesn’t just save time. It helps people actually understand each other—and work together in ways that support every child. Worth the read if you’re thinking about what human-centered AI should really look like in education. #TalkingPoints #EdTech #AIinEducation https://lnkd.in/e4J-PjEW10 years of TalkingPoints: How AI is transforming education for families and schools10 years of TalkingPoints: How AI is transforming education for families and schools

Heejae Lim shared thisI’m heading to #TED2026 this week, and I always find this gathering to be both energizing and grounding. This year’s theme — “All of Us” — really resonates. It’s a reminder that building a better future isn’t about any one idea or person, but what’s possible when we act together. I see that every day at TalkingPoints. When schools and families truly partner, it changes what is possible for students and for entire communities. Grateful to be part of this community. Let me know if you’ll be there, I’d love to connect. #EdTech #NonprofitInnovation #Education #TEDFellow

Heejae Lim shared thisExcited to be heading to the ASU+GSV Summit in San Diego next week where I’ll be joining two conversations that are really at the heart of what we care about at TalkingPoints: “The Extraordinary ROI of Investing in Families” — where I’ll share how centering families in education leads to stronger outcomes for students. “Everyday Learning, Exponential Impact: Family Engagement as an Equity Strategy” — focused on what it takes to build real, inclusive partnerships between families and schools at scale. At the core of both: when families are meaningfully included, students do better. Would love to connect if you’ll be there! #ASUGSVSummit #Education #Innovation #FamilyEngagement

Heejae Lim liked thisHeejae Lim liked thisIs homework actually helping improve academic outcomes? Or is it just causing stress and taking time away from family activities, extracurriculars, social time and rest? Brigitte Blom sat down with Ariel Gilreath of The Hechinger Report, who dug into the research behind a growing trend: schools and districts across the country are quietly scrapping math homework. Here's what the research actually says: Studies are split—some show more homework = better performance, others show little to no effect, especially for younger kids The "10 minutes per grade level" rule is widely recommended, but nearly impossible to enforce fairly The share of 4th graders getting NO math homework jumped from ~5% in the 1990s to over 25% by 2024 AI is now a factor too—nearly 1 in 10 teens say they use it to do most of their schoolwork As one researcher put it: the real question isn't whether there should be MORE homework, it's whether there should be BETTER homework. Heejae Lim liked thisHeejae Lim liked this"The first five years of a child's life are the most sensitive period of development, so the right supports really matter." That was the message our Director of Early Childhood, Becky Jaques Hasak, brought to the Code for America Summit 2026, where she joined "Betting on the Future: How Philanthropy is Catalyzing Technology for Public Impact." When a child's basic needs are met, they are far better positioned to grow, learn, and arrive ready for school. Code for America’s technology makes it easier for families to connect to vital programs that support healthy child development. This partnership advances Valhalla’s goal to dramatically improve kindergarten readiness so every child gets a strong start in learning and life. Heejae Lim liked thisHeejae Lim liked thisFor 180 years, Deloitte has believed in making an impact that matters. Last week, that commitment took shape in New York City as Deloitte professionals joined Robin Hood for the firm's annual Impact Day — a nationwide day of service that mobilizes thousands of volunteers to strengthen communities across the country. Together, volunteers spent the morning at Project Renewal, a longtime Robin Hood grantee, transforming shared spaces at the organization's 59th Street Women's Shelter. Through creativity, teamwork, and a few summer decorations, the group helped create a brighter, more welcoming environment for women working to rebuild stability in their lives. At Robin Hood, we know that fighting poverty takes more than financial resources alone. It takes people willing to invest their time, talents, and energy in the communities they call home. We're grateful to Deloitte for continuing to lead by example and for demonstrating what impact can look like in action. Because meaningful change happens when organizations come together — not only to support communities, but to show up for them. Every time I open my emails, I remind myself: This is someone else’s to-do list. It’s a subtle shift, but it changes how I move through the day. Early on at IDEO, I was purely reactive. Projects moved fast, clients were demanding, and there was always more we could say “yes” to. But when I watched the best designers, they clearly knew what to ignore. They protected their attention. Founders, especially, live inside everyone else’s sense of urgency - investors, customers, press, partners. If you’re not careful, your calendar and inbox will design your life for you. The same principle applies to your companies. Where you point your attention determines what gets built and what gets ignored. Our job is to reclaim our to-do list and to be intentional about what gets your focus.

CareTech is emerging in Israel - and it’s time to build the ecosystem around it. When I first started thinking about the idea of CareTech, the premise was simple: family caregivers are essential to our health and social care systems, yet they are still far too often overlooked when innovation is designed. As Chair of CareGivers Israel - הארגון הישראלי לבני משפחה מטפלים, I wanted us to better understand what was already happening at the intersection of caregiving, technology and AI - and what would be needed to turn promising ideas into solutions that can make a real difference in caregivers’ lives. Earlier this year, we set out to map Israeli technologies using AI to support family caregivers. 29 initiatives responded, revealing an exciting, diverse, but still early-stage field. Only 24% are already commercial, while 72% are developing B2B models aimed at healthcare organizations, employers and other institutional partners. Today, I’m proud that CareGivers Israel is publishing our first report on AI-based CareTech in Israel - mapping the emerging ecosystem, highlighting its potential, and identifying what it will take to move promising solutions from pilots to meaningful real-world adoption. A special thank you to our dear board member Rachel Sarafraz for leading the writing of the report and helping turn this mapping effort into a thoughtful and actionable analysis. For me, this is also an important step toward something bigger: building a real CareTech ecosystem in Israel - connecting entrepreneurs, caregivers, healthcare organizations, employers, researchers, investors, policymakers and philanthropic partners around a shared challenge. Because supporting family caregivers isn’t only a social challenge. It’s a healthcare challenge, a workforce challenge - and a major innovation opportunity.
