Ian Gaffney shared thisHigh fives to an awesome team (past and present!) that got Emmy's to this point - Briana Martini (she/her) Juliana Cavalcante Emily Horowitz Bryan Showalter Kiersten Choiniere Gian Khalsa Shawn Manimtim Andrew Hathorn Joni Hathorn Faye Kantz ... not including our entire ops/production crew, and a special shoutout to our 3rd wheel and the captain of the ship, Bill Kelly. Samantha and I started Emmy's Organics at the local farmers market just a few months after meeting each other, it was supposed to be a fun summertime project and a way for us to connect deeper with the Ithaca community - my hometown. We had no idea what we were doing or what the journey would look like but we always did our best to have a good time, while working our a**es off, and to not take ourselves too seriously. Many failures and some wins later and here we are, partnering with the largest baking business in the world (pinch me). What I'm most proud of is the fact that we always did things our way - guided by instinct, advice, and what we felt was right by our employees, our customers and what would be best for the business as a whole. We grew this thing without investors, which gave us the opportunity to choose our own path. Beyond excited for the next chapter! #community #team #growth #bbuproudIan Gaffney shared thisI am so proud to share that Emmy's Organics has been acquired by Grupo Bimbo. Its wild to reflect back to when Ian and I first started Emmy's in a home kitchen 12 years ago and how much we've learned along the way. With our new amazing partners, we're going to be able to see our vision of creating a brand that as many people possible can love and trust come to life in a new way. All while continuing to give back to our team, community and beyond. This is seriously just the beginning. We are so incredibly grateful to our entire team who have helped us get to this point. And to all of our amazing industry friends who have cheered us on along the way. ❤️

Ian Gaffney shared thisIan Gaffney shared thisWe've always been committed to using organic ingredients. But over the years, it's become challenging (from a retail cost perspective) to compete with brands who are only certified non-GMO. But then I see this graphic from the amazing Vani Hari and remember why we do what we do! While organic agriculture is not perfect in any way, it is better for our bodies and the planet. Spending more on these ingredients and certifications is one of the many ways that we continue to use business as a force for good. Would love to hear your thoughts around this!

Ian Gaffney reacted on thisIan Gaffney reacted on thisLinkedIn community! It’s been a minute! I have not been a big LinkedIn sharer over the years but lately I have been feeling the pull so here I am... In 2019, I had a major wake up call. On the outside, my life was perfect. My business was growing like crazy, I was in a beautiful partnership, lived in a great community, had a home, a dog, you get the point. But underneath all of that, there was this subtle feeling. An emptiness that I couldn’t shake. Potentially a sensation that was there for years, I just wasn't aware. What I didn’t see at the time was that my self-worth and entire identity were outside of myself. For years prior to this, I was running on all cylinders. Working extremely long hours, traveling all over the country for 30 min sales meetings (IYKYK), going hard at the gym, saying yes to all invites from friends and family, taking care of my home, etc. What I eventually learned is that that emptiness I felt could not be fixed by working any harder. I had no awareness of any of this at the time. In fact, it took my body breaking down for me to start to wake up…I suffered from chronic insomnia for months before I realized something wasn’t right and that I had no idea how to listen to myself. I made a vow that things were going to change. So I started what has now been a five year journey learning how to live differently. I have studied nervous system healing, somatic work and body awareness, inner child and shadow work, meditation, breathwork, manifestation, embodiment work, subconscious reprogramming, the list goes on and on because I’m kind of a nerd about this stuff. I learned who I am on the deepest soul level, I calmed my nervous system, I started to recognize my intuition that has always been there, I connected with my authentic self, I learned how to feel. Like, really feel. I completely upgraded my internal operating system. And as my inner world started to shift, so did my outer world: I sold my business (and now work for Emmy’s as a consultant, so grateful), Ian and I consciously uncoupled (and are now close friends & family) and I moved to LA. My relationship to myself is different, my friendships are different, how I spend my time is different, the way I look at business and productivity is different. I have always been a seeker, someone who wants to live life in the most fulfilling way, who is interested in soul work, healing and spirituality. And there’s the business side of me. Who is extremely creative, loves getting shit done and is extremely results oriented. Lately, I’ve been feeling these layers come together and there is so much that I want to share, especially around my perspective around entrepreneurship, money and business...but probably other things too. I have also been sharing stories and insights on my personal instagram (@samanthaabrams) and on my Substack called “I’m Just Listening.” If you read all of this, bless your heart lol. See you soon.

Ian Gaffney reacted on thisHUGE news this Monday! Our refrigerated breakfast is Whole Foods Market. It was such an amazing feeling to walk into the WFM in Williamsburg and see it on the shelves for real. I'm very grateful for this partnership. Huge shout out to Robin Kula Julia Morris Kadijah Wellons Tracy Morelli If you see it on the shelves, send pictures please! #cpgindustry #sales #wholefoodsmarketIan Gaffney reacted on thisWhen your brand plays in a new category, the review process gets an extra layer of complication. Within the same retailer, different buyers oversee different category segments and even the most seasoned among us, aren't sure who to present to. Knowing our fresh breakfast would be a hit at Whole Foods Market Foods, we at Belgian Boys presented to all buyers in the category! Thankfully when Julia Morris quickly responded we knew we were on the right track. We are super excited to partner with Julia Morris with placement in the egg set in seven Whole Food Market regions. Belgian Boys continues to pioneer a new category and create a breakfast destination in the dairy set. Thank you to Kadijah Wellons for organizing all of our discussions and Tracy Morelli , our regional sales manager, for her hard work, dedication and attention to detail. Check out our own Anouck Gotlib who brought home crepes, bite sized pancakes and our new brioche French toast from Williamsburg Whole Foods Market location over the weekend! #sales #teamwork #wholefoodsmarket

Ian Gaffney reacted on thisIan Gaffney reacted on thisI screwed up my first retail launch. I’ve talked to so many food & bev operators who’ve done the same. Why is this so common? The landscape is opaque. The knowledge that you need just isn’t Google-able. That’s why Rodeo CPG is partnering with Amrit Richmond and Indie CPG to bring you Cart Camp. Cart Camp is how DTC-first food & beverage brands get the knowledge, tools, and coaching they need to approach retail with confidence. There will be 9 live video sessions from August 2-5. We’ll have 30+ amazing “counselors” sharing actionable tips (and maybe some ghost stories too 👻)… Sales pros like Devon Freeman, Greg Lorenzo, Kevin Joseph, and Pierre Jamet Experienced operators like Matt Clifford, Samantha Abrams, Ian Gaffney, Noah Wunsch, and Perteet Spencer Amazing service/tech providers like Daniel Quinones, Cameron McCarthy, and Kunal Kohli, Tiffin ✌️ Along with so many more industry pros. The best part? It’s totally free and we’ve got some extra spaces available. If this sounds up your alley, I dropped a link in the comments for more info. #cpg #foodandbeverage #foodbusiness

Hey 👋 We can’t build the hemp industry on vibes, but we can build it on data. In my latest episode of Women In The Nude Podcast, Kevin Provost and I talk about why real consumer data, feedback loops, and responsible formulation matter if hemp-derived THC is going to survive regulation, and deserve legitimacy. If we want legalization done right, we have to prove safety, consistency, and accountability. Period. If hemp-derived THC is helping people with pain, sleep, anxiety, or alcohol abuse reduction, we need the studies to prove it, and the regulatory space to collect that data responsibly. Science moves industries forward. Watch the episode, Monday the 29th on my YouTube Channel https://lnkd.in/euGZ3i9H or anywhere you get your podcasts. MoreBetter, Ltd. What’s becoming clearer every time I look at the Massachusetts data. 43% of adults in Massachusetts used cannabis in the past year, and 61% now buy through licensed retail stores. The industry isn’t just expanding, it’s maturing. What I’m seeing in conversations through Canopy HR is that operators who invest early in strong people systems gain real momentum. Clear processes around payroll, benefits, and compliance give teams the confidence and structure they need to grow. And the businesses that create that clarity tend to build environments where people feel supported and connected to the mission. As the market continues to grow, that kind of intentionality becomes a true competitive advantage. It builds trust, it reduces friction, and it helps teams do their best work. https://lnkd.in/ehRC2-Uf #CannabisIndustry #CannabisBusiness #MassachusettsCannabis #HRStrategy #PeopleOperations #CannabisHR #WorkforceDevelopment Joel Pearson Matthew DiStefano Itsik Bouhbot Gillian Cramner Dallas Zimmerman Stew B. Thanks Nick Bradley 🌱🥩 and Future-Proof Group Media for this very candid article about the differentiated and value-added cell-cultivated seafood company we are building at BlueNalu, and highlighting my recent Future of Foods podcast hosted by Alex Crisp. There's an outstanding agenda during the upcoming Cultured Meat Symposium and The Future of Protein Production conferences, being held in Chicago on February 24-25. I look forward to presenting our value proposition and latest updates at BlueNalu, learning from the insights that others will be sharing, and connecting with everyone there.

I have written a lot lately about protein and where the category is heading. This deal is another data point worth paying attention to. Second Nature Brands, the PE-backed snacking platform behind Brownie Brittle, Sahale Snacks and Voortman, just agreed to acquire Tillamook Country Smoker. Tillamook generates more than $175 million in annual sales and makes clean-label zero-sugar jerky, beef sticks and sausages. This is Second Nature's first move into protein snacks. The category numbers explain why. Dried meat snack sales excluding jerky rose 10.7% to $3.3 billion in 2024. PepsiCo entered this year with Good Warrior. Chomps, Jack Link's Protein Snacks and Archer Meat Snacks are all scaling. The category has gone from a niche better-for-you play to one of the most competitive aisles in the store in a very short window. For Second Nature, Tillamook gives them a platform in a category with real consumer tailwinds. For CapVest, the PE firm backing Second Nature, this is the roll-up playbook working exactly as designed. Buy castoffs and undermanaged brands, add distribution muscle and retail relationships, and let the category growth do some of the work. The harder question is whether clean-label meat snacks can hold their positioning as the category gets crowded with scaled players. Full article: https://lnkd.in/gvsRjjzQ

🚜 Connecting with Labs & Processors in the CBD Space 🌱 As many of you know, we’re a community of small farms across PA and NY focused on growing high-quality, THC-compliant CBD hemp. Most of our production is grown under contract, but recent industry shifts — including the proposed federal ban targeting November 2026 — have created some unexpected openings. One of our long-term lab partners stepped away from their contract, which means we currently have ~75,000 lbs of CBD hemp biomass available immediately. Key details: • THC compliant (<0.3%) • ~14% CBD potency • Grown using organic practices (non-certified, but certifiable if needed) • Hang-dried and handled carefully on our small farms • Capacity to scale beyond 150+ acres annually We’re using this moment as an opportunity to connect directly with laboratories, extractors, and processors we haven’t met yet. If you’re looking for reliable, transparent farm partners — or you’d simply like to learn more about our farmers and how we work — I’d welcome a conversation. Feel free to message me directly or connect here on LinkedIn. — Tom Young
