Jim Gingrich shared thisSolving big challenges like affordable housing requires stepping outside your comfort zone. Congratulations to Metro Nashville, The Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee, First Horizon, and Vanderbilt University for having the courage to launch The Nashville Catalyst Fund. I could not be more thrilled to be part of this great team. You can read more about Nashville's innovative new fund at https://lnkd.in/efRbtrSk. Jim Gingrich shared thisI recently had the opportunity to join Nashville Metro Social Services to discuss the 2024 Community Needs Evaluation with Marsha Edwards and Ken Chilton. I encourage everyone to read this important report (see link below). Nashville’s exceptional economic growth has provided our city with great resources: our Metro budget is up nearly 80% in a decade, which has translated to a per capita budget increase of 65%. Yet, our poverty rate is 40% higher than cities like Austin and Charlotte. More than one in five Nashville children live in poverty. Davidson County is ranked 88th out of 95 counties in Tennessee for child wellbeing. Nearly one in five is not graduating from our public high schools. Opportunity Insights at Harvard University ranks Nashville in the last quartile of American cities on providing upward economic mobility for our children. Our city has not translated its economic bounty into better lives and a brighter future for our kids. This is unacceptable. Mayor Freddie O'Connell and our new Metro leadership have already instilled a new sense of optimism about the city’s ability to tackle some of our most pressing problems. The time has come to commit our city to building (and executing) a comprehensive Youth Opportunity Strategy, one that encompasses behavior and health opportunity, academic opportunity, and economic opportunity. The future of our city is our children. Let’s do right by them and unlock their full potential. https://lnkd.in/e8xusRCW #Nashville

Jim Gingrich shared thisI cannot express my appreciation and gratitude enough to every supporter. I am going to take some time out of the public eye to focus on my family and continue as a public servant through my nonprofit involvement. Thank you all for an opportunity of a lifetime.

Jim Gingrich shared thisAs a kid, my Dad taught me the value of a dollar and that hard earned money should be spent wisely and on things that matter. My Dad is now 91, and he is a PowerPoint wiz. That’s why, in our latest campaign commercial, he put together a presentation on the spending priorities I would have for your tax dollars. As mayor, I will put an end to bad deals, modernize our Metro Government, and prioritize spending on things like affordable housing, hiring more police, and our children’s education. #nashville #nashvillemayor #nashvillepolitics

Jim Gingrich shared thisToday, I’m introducing my plan. Metro Nashville spends 70% more per resident than we did 10 years ago. Still, crime, traffic, public education, and affordable housing are getting worse. The fact is our city has been growing without a plan to grow. Unrestrained growth hasn’t been managed well, threatening our community’s quality of life. These challenges have been discussed and studied for more than a decade, but with little in the way of action. We need leadership with the experience and the know-how to get things done and modernize our city government so that it actually delivers for the people who call Nashville home. As mayor, I’ll focus on our three greatest priorities: OUR PEOPLE, OUR COMMUNITIES, AND OUR CITY, and do so through effective policies that address public safety, schools, infrastructure and traffic congestion, affordable housing, city services, and the cultural institutions that make this city unique. As a business leader, I led an organization of thousands of employees and a budget the size of the Metro government. I built a career solving problems and making organizations more efficient and effective. Without a broad approach and a leader who will take action, Nashville will continue in the wrong direction. #leadership #experience #community #nashville #nashvillepolitics #nashvillemayor

Jim Gingrich shared thisAs far back as I can remember, my father always inspired me. I often talk about how he told my two brothers and me, “There are two types of people. Those who sit on the couch and complain and those who get up and do something about it.” Without the life lessons he instilled in me as a child, hard work, integrity, and doing what you say you’ll do, I would never have been able to achieve any of my success. Thank you, Dad. I am so lucky to have had a caring, supportive, and incredible father figure to look up to. Being a father is no easy task, and I hope I was able to pass down even a fraction of those lessons my father instilled in me to my own son. Standing here with my father, son, and grandson, however, I know my grandson has a great father figure, even if he’s too young to realize it. Wishing you all the best Father’s Day from all four Gingrich men! #nashville #nashvillepolitics #mayor #fathersday

Jim Gingrich shared thisToday, I want to introduce you to my family and my new campaign video. What I know about resilience, determination and grit, I learned from my parents. Despite my mom battling breast cancer during the formative years of my childhood, she was strong throughout. And my dad led our family through it. I have been very fortunate in life, but I also know what it’s like when life is hard and when it seems no one understands what you’re going through. It’s why I’m so determined to help build more affordable housing, tackle rising crime, and invest in our public schools. #nashville #nashvillepolitics #mayor #nashvillemayor

Jim Gingrich shared thisLike a flourishing garden, we need to grow #Nashville with care and intention. I’m so proud of the city that Nashville has become because I know we have not reached our full potential. I’m excited to release our first campaign ad. Watch now.

Jim Gingrich shared thisYesterday, less than two weeks after a mass shooting in a school that took the lives of three children and three adults, the nation's eyes were on Tennessee state lawmakers, not as they debated how to best protect our children, but while they decided whether to expel three Democratic state representatives. The GOP supermajority expelled and silenced Representatives Justin Jones and Justin Pearson for protesting for gun reform. Our democracy is fragile, and we must protect it at all costs. Unfortunately, in this legislative session, we have seen multiple examples of state lawmakers overturning the will of Nashville voters. While a supermajority in the state House may be comfortable expelling two young Black men from their positions, this is not something Nashville should ever tolerate. John Lewis said, “A democracy cannot thrive where power remains unchecked and justice is reserved for a select few. Ignoring these cries and failing to respond…is simply not an option.” Let’s resolve to uplift and celebrate every community that calls Nashville home. Dissent and diversity of opinion in a democracy are not something to be silenced, but something to be celebrated. This is an ideal I will fight for. #tennesseethree #community #power #politcs #gunsafety

Jim Gingrich liked thisJim Gingrich liked thisA message from Marsha Edwards, President Emeritus, on her last day with the Martha O'Bryan Center: "Over the years, I have written about many issues and challenges, but Martha O’Bryan’s focus is always on supporting the upward mobility of low-income families and the aspirations of young people. We know families can rise above poverty in one generation with two opportunities. First, education and training. Second, loving guidance from a coach. That looks different in our Academic Student Unions compared to our Family Success Network, but the through line is unending belief in the potential of the client and their dreams for a better future... As I leave Martha O’Bryan, I want to emphasize the fellowship and faith that is the foundation on which we build solutions to poverty. Nothing is more important... Loving relationships are everything in this work. Love fuels hope. Hope fuels change. And that kind of hope-filled beauty goes out into the world to make the improbable possible." Jim Gingrich reacted on thisJim Gingrich reacted on thisToday is a special anniversary for me. 14 years ago, I had a stem cell transplant at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in Boston. The cancer I had was incurable in the sense that there was no medicine that would treat it. A stem cell transplant was my best shot. Today, I am a chimera. I have two sets of DNA. If this were an episode of CSI, a throat swab would show my original DNA. But my blood and bone marrow carry the DNA of David, a selfless donor who signed up for the registry and, when the call came, followed through. Everyone goes through trials. Fourteen years ago, things were pretty grim. I lived, then and now, in Westchester County. I dropped my daughter off for her first day of kindergarten and headed up to Boston. I didn’t know if it would be a one-way trip. Without my incredible wife, my family, friends, I never woud have made it. I am forever grateful to David for donating his stem cells and to the doctors, nurses and staff at Dana-Farber who gave me a new lease on life. I am one of the lucky ones. Along the way, I met people with similar diagnoses who were not as fortunate. The journey was tough, and coping was a major part of making it through. I joke with friends that if I ever wrote a book about coping with cancer, I would call it East of Denial. In my mind, there is a line. Absolute denial is on the left (the “west”). Total acceptance is on the right (the “east). During my darkest days, and throughout my journey, I tried to live just a little to the right (“east”) of denial. Do the things I had to do to give myself the best chance of making it through. Go to the doctors. Take the medicine. Exercise when I could. Follow the plan. But beyond that, I tried to live close to denial and simply assume everything was going to be okay. It was almost like game theory. If I spent every day thinking about everything that could go wrong, maybe I could prepare myself for the worst. But In letting it take over, I would have a pretty lousy life even if everything turned out okay. If instead I did everything I reasonably could to improve my odds and then after that just assumed things would be okay, there were two possible outcomes. If things were okay, I got to live a great life (albeit with some crazy episodes along the way). If things ultimately were not going to be okay, I still got to live the best life I could for however long I had. So I chose to live just east of denial. And here I am, 14 years later, feeling like the luckiest guy in the world. I have no idea who this will resonate with, but I thought I would share it on a random Saturday in September. Over the years, I have tried to pay it forward speaking with others who had a similar diagnosis or who were going to have a stem cell transplant. For anyone facing a stem cell transplant, sometimes simply knowing that people like me exist, thriving all these years later, can help. Fourteen years later, I’m still here. And incredibly grateful.

Few institutions sit closer to the crossroads of fiscal policy, markets, and politics than the U.S. Treasury. Having spent part of my career there, I’m looking forward to presenting at the CFA Society of Miami discussion this Thursday on the Treasury’s role in today’s financial market landscape, particularly at a time when fiscal policy, monetary expectations, and political dynamics are all influencing market outcomes. Always a pleasure to reconnect with old colleagues, meet new ones, and exchange perspectives with the CFA community. CFA Society Miami Payden & Rygel

KKR recently completed its partnership with ISC (Integrated Specialty Coverages, LLC), marking the close of a 4.5-year collaboration that included implementing an employee ownership program. As a result, every one of the company’s nearly 400 employee-owners received cash payouts for their ownership stakes—sharing directly in the company’s success. Since 2011, KKR has supported companies in implementing broad-based ownership programs, which have consistently shown that employee engagement drives stronger, more resilient businesses. To date, more than 75 KKR portfolio companies have awarded billions of dollars in equity to over 180,000 non-senior management employees. Inspired to be part of a team that believes everyone should share in the success they help create! 👀 Watch the full video: https://go.kkr.com/4qvGM5I
