Jeff Koo shared thisIt's a red flag if a PR agency is just selling their ability to secure media coverage. Modern communications programs integrate engineered visibility, generative search optimization, and individual voices — and demand proof. Read more about it in our exclusive in O'Dwyers this month.Jeff Koo shared thisAmanda Munroe from SHIFT Communications writes that today’s digital media landscape has reshaped influence and information discovery, which requires PR programs to adapt by changing their approach to perception and brand visibility.2026: Not Just Another Evolution Year in Public Relations2026: Not Just Another Evolution Year in Public RelationsJohn O'Dwyer

Jeff Koo shared thisCompanies often come to PR with questions about how they should position their brand. Often times there are two opposing ideas that they want to brand at the same time (big mistake) or sometimes it's a corporate merger and they're not sure how to position it. Joe Smith | Brand Consultancy, which is a part of our family of agencies, put together a great post on common brand concerns. Check it out below, and if you have a brand question, feel free to reach out! #brand #pr #mergerJeff Koo shared thisIn the world of #brand, architecture is rarely the first thing on anyone’s mind. It’s overshadowed by splashy campaigns, sleek logos, and perfectly crafted taglines. But if you’ve ever found yourself in a meeting wondering why your team’s email signatures display six different logos—or why no one seems to agree on who they work for—then you may be staring at a much deeper issue: a brand architecture problem. Jeff Koo posted thisSomehow AI can replace all our entry-level jobs and find every zero-day flaw, but AI Overviews can’t pass a middle school trivia quiz one out of ten times. Feels like the real story isn’t just how powerful these systems are becoming but rather how uneven that power still is.

Jeff Koo shared this3D displays and holographic TVs have long been the stuff of science fiction, yet incredibly, the technology exists today, and Leia has been helping major brands bring it to market. Leia is also a new SHIFT client, and I’m proud that our team gets to help expand the definition of immersive beyond VR and AR. Imagine video conferencing that feels truly face-to-face, or visualizing an object as if you could reach out and grab it, all without changing consumer behavior or wearing additional devices. The implications for medicine, design, architecture, media, education, and more are substantial. Excited to add Leia to our growing roster of clients!Jeff Koo shared thisQ1 was busy in the very best way as we kicked off programs with four new tech brands, each shaping the future of their industries. Jeff Koo shared thisPadilla (of which SHIFT is a brand of) recently brought in an immigration attorney to talk about what's happening in the U.S. with immigrants and deportations. As a child of immigrants, it felt nice to know the place I work for acknowledges the challenges of what's going on.Jeff Koo shared thisThank you Heather Prendergast, attorney at Aljijakli, Kosseff & Prendergast, LLC, and a member of the Board of Governors for the American Immigration Lawyers Association, for speaking with us as our first Bubble Break guest of the year. Jeff Koo posted thisCalling all podcasters/creative friends: I am seeking a freelance podcast editor for audio-only projects. My client manages the booking and recording but requires assistance with post-production editing and potentially uploading and distribution. The commitment involves one 30-50 minute podcast per month. Familiarity with the Resonate editing tool is a bonus.

Jeff Koo liked thisJeff Koo liked thisToday marks 19 years with the City and County of San Francisco. Nineteen years ago today, I walked through the doors of City Hall into Mayor Gavin Newsom's Office. I had no idea that one opportunity would become a nineteen-year career in public service. It was an extraordinary time to begin serving San Francisco, and I had a front-row seat to some truly historic moments, including the fight for marriage equality, one of the defining civil rights movements of our generation. My years serving under Mayor Ed Lee, San Francisco’s first Chinese American mayor, were among the most formative of my career. They gave me opportunities I never imagined and relationships that continue to shape my life today. After his passing, I continued my service under Interim Mayor Mark Farrell and Mayor London Breed, San Francisco's first Black woman mayor. Today, I proudly continue serving San Francisco at San Francisco International Airport under Mayor Daniel Lurie’s administration. People often ask me why I’ve stayed with the City for so long. The answer is simple: This is my hometown, and it’s the city I love. From City Hall to SFO, it has been an incredible honor to serve alongside dedicated colleagues, community leaders, and friends. I’m grateful for every opportunity to give back to the city that shaped me. Thank you to everyone who has been part of my journey.

Jeff Koo reacted on thisJeff Koo reacted on thisIn the professional consultancy or agency business, gratitude is something we don’t say or do enough. Following what we did in New York a few weeks ago, we gathered one of San Francisco's client teams for a thank you lunch last Friday. This team shows up every single day, putting in the effort, energy, and care to support our clients. It’s easy to get caught up in deadlines and demands, but moments like this are a reminder that what truly drives success is people. Your dedication, resilience, and commitment don’t go unnoticed, and they are deeply appreciated. Grateful for our people, today and every day. 🙏 Next stop: Chicago! Really enjoyed this “lightning round” podcast with my friend Jane Randel. We covered a lot of ground in 10 minutes about how to succeed in comms: whether as a full-time or fractional practitioner, and in an AI-enabled world where clients are faced with countless reputational hurdles. With a couple of personal bits thrown in for good measure (ha). What would I do with 10 extra minutes? Hint: it involves touching grass! Thank you Jane for the terrific conversation, as ever. Burson

Dear CMOs: Here's the script for getting your C-suite to invest in the two insurance policies that actually matter. I just helped a CMO get $2M approved for communications infrastructure. Not because her CEO suddenly loved comms. Because we changed the conversation. This wasn't a client -- it was an inbound call where we had a real heart to heart about the level of frustration around the weaknesses she was seeing and the risks. Stop talking about "brand building" and "employee engagement." Start talking about what keeps CEOs up at night: **Insurance Policy #1: Crisis Communications Planning** When Delta's systems crashed, it cost them $500 million in five days. Not because of the technology failure—because they had no crisis infrastructure. We build these plans. Run full-team workshops. Test scenarios before they're real. Your ask: "What's our plan when our top customer tweets about a product failure at 11 PM on a Friday?" If the room goes quiet, you've made your point. **Insurance Policy #2: Internal Communications as Retention Strategy** Employee disengagement cost the global economy $438 billion last year. Your competitors are spending 40% more on marketing to acquire talent you're about to lose. Strategic internal comms isn't about newsletters. It's about keeping your best people from updating their LinkedIn profiles. Your ask: "What's cheaper—investing in internal communications or replacing 20% of our workforce?" The math is simple. And it's on your side. Here's what that CMO told her CEO: "We spend $50K monthly on cyber insurance we've never used. We have D&O insurance, E&O insurance, property insurance. But when a crisis hits—and it will—we have no communications insurance. That's what will actually protect our valuation." She got approval in one meeting. In my Forbes article, I break down the full framework for building vs. buying this infrastructure. But you don't need the article to start the conversation. You need to stop asking for "communications investment" and start asking for "crisis insurance" and "retention infrastructure." Because that's what it actually is. Your CFO insures everything else that could tank the company. Why not the two things that definitely will? https://lnkd.in/gEE68m7r

AI-generated content is all over social media. My esteemed colleague, Katelyn Chedraoui, just wrapped up CNET's latest survey that dives into what US adults really think about AI content and how well they can spot it. Here's the big deal: Most US adults who use social media (94%) come across AI content, but only 44% can confidently distinguish between what's real and what's fake. US adults take different measures to verify what they see online, but over 1 in 5 believe AI content shouldn't be online at all. Take a look at the findings and Katelyn's advice to try to limit the AI content you see online. https://lnkd.in/efrnXPya

This is a perfect complement to the State of Communications Readiness in 2026 report Breuklander Communications published in January. Teams value AI and feel its urgency, yet confidence and capability fall far behind organizational expectations. The data reveals widening confidence gaps inside teams, rising fears of misuse and job security, rapid model acceleration, and a clear need for structure over tools. This report gives comms leaders clear steps to take this year to close these gaps. That full report is available for free here: https://lnkd.in/eMqhGqYi #AIforPR #AIforComms #AIReadiness
