Jeff Slone liked thisI have been working on a pretty unusual side project: a custom Skee-Ball machine. I found an old machine and decided to see how far I could take it by replacing the technology inside with my own hardware and software — while keeping the feel of the original arcade game. What started with figuring out how to detect where a ball landed turned into a full system involving: • Arduino controllers for the sensors and display • A Raspberry Pi running the game • Custom lighting and electronics • Software to handle game logic and scoring • A local SQLite database for game data • A Web API and SQL Server database for player information and game history The Raspberry Pi essentially became the brain of the machine, communicating with the sensors, display, lights and audio while running the game itself. And eventually...It worked. There is something pretty satisfying about throwing a ball down an old arcade machine and watching software you wrote recognize the shot, calculate the score, update the display, trigger the lights and save the game. This has been one of the most fun projects I have worked on because it combines a lot of things I enjoy — software, hardware, electronics, fabrication/3d printing and problem solving. The best part is that you can still walk up to it, grab a ball, and play Skee-Ball exactly the way you always have. The technology just happens to be doing a lot more behind the scenes.

Jeff Slone liked thisJeff Slone liked thisFREE IDEA TO ANY THEME PARK THAT WANTS IT!!! Seriously. Take it! Because for years, I had this idea for a theme park Annual/Seasonal Pass program that I always wanted to see come to life. It never did! So now I’m releasing it into the wild here on LinkedIn. And there’s a pretty compelling reason to think about this: Recent loyalty research found that 31% of consumers are more likely to keep doing business with a brand when it offers a good loyalty program. So why don’t we apply that psychology more aggressively to Annual/Seasonal Passes? Turn Annual Pass tenure into STATUS. Imagine this: 🎟️ 1 YEAR: Gold Passholder 🎟️ 3 YEARS: Platinum Passholder 🎟️ 5 YEARS: Diamond Passholder 🎟️ 10 YEARS: An absolutely ridiculous status that makes everyone else jealous 😂 The exact tiers don’t matter. But every consecutive year a Guest renews their Annual Pass, they’re building toward something. And each loyalty tier could unlock its own benefits. Maybe it’s exclusive merchandise. Maybe it’s a special entrance. Maybe it’s an anniversary gift. Maybe it’s early access to certain experiences. Maybe it’s nothing more than a special PLATINUM PASSHOLDER LANYARD. And weirdly… That lanyard might be one of the most powerful benefits. Because if I’m walking through a park and see someone wearing a Platinum Passholder lanyard? I WANT ONE. Now cancelling my Annual/Seasonal Pass doesn’t just mean losing park access. It means potentially giving up the status I’ve spent years building. The Guest wins: They’re recognized and rewarded for years of loyalty. The park wins: Another reason for Passholders to renew, stronger affinity with the brand, and more predictable recurring revenue. And here’s where I think it could get REALLY interesting: Combine pass tier + loyalty tenure. Your highest-tier Annual Passholder who’s been with you for 10 consecutive years? Treat that person like a LEGEND. They’ve earned it. Anyway, that’s my free idea for the theme park industry. If I recall I first thought this up in 2019 thanks to Royal Caribbean, because I LOVE their loyalty program (Crown & Anchor Club)...so shout out to them for already pulling me into wanting to book another cruise to get points towards my Diamond Status!. And if a park actually builds something like this, I have exactly one request: Please tell me. Because I want to buy a pass, start at Year 1, and work my way toward that ridiculous Platinum lanyard. And if anyone in the attractions industry wants to nerd out about how this could actually work operationally, financially, and experientially… My DMs are open. 🎢 #ThemeParks #AttractionsIndustry #GuestExperience #CustomerLoyalty

Jeff Slone reacted on thisJeff Slone reacted on thisToday is my last day at Six Flags Entertainment Corporation. Back in high school, I dreaded getting a job. My parents insisted, applied to Kings Island for me, and made me go to the interview. My only consolation was that it would just be for the summer. By the end of that summer, I was convinced I'd never leave. 13 years later, I'm wrapping up my work leading the mobile app and website that millions of guests use to plan their visits and get around the parks. That path only happened because people here took a chance on me, taught me, and trusted me with more responsibility than my title said. Through the Cedar Fair and Six Flags merger and everything that came with it, I got to build things alongside some of the most dedicated people in this industry. To my team, partners, and everyone who brought passion to what we do: thank you. I learned more from you than I could fit in a post. It's been a great ride, and I'm rooting for everyone staying at Six Flags.. Next up: a week off, then a new adventure starting October 5. 🎢

Jeff Slone reacted on thisJeff Slone reacted on thisNext week, I'll be wrapping up a chapter that has been a significant part of my life for more than 12 years. During that time, the company name changed from Schlitterbahn to Cedar Fair and now Six Flags, but one thing never changed: the incredible people I've had the privilege to work alongside every day. Looking back, it's not the projects, systems, or long nights that stand out most. It's the relationships. The friendships. The teams that came together to solve problems, support one another, and accomplish things that none of us could have done alone. I've been fortunate to work with talented leaders, dedicated business partners, and some of the best IT professionals in the industry. You challenged me, taught me, trusted me, and made me better. For that, I will always be grateful. It's never easy to leave something that has been such a meaningful part of your career, but I'm excited for what's next. This transition is bittersweet, filled with both gratitude for where I've been and excitement for where I'm headed. To everyone who has been part of this journey, thank you. The memories, lessons, and relationships will stay with me long after my last day. I'll share more about my next role in the coming weeks. For now, I simply wanted to say thank you. Onward to the next adventure.

Qilin claiming a hit on Asahi is a wake-up: ransomware crews target supply chains, exfil first then disrupt. Expect credential reuse and vendor pivot attempts. If youre a customer or partner, rotate creds, enable MFA, patch fast, avoid auto-join WiFi. #ransomware

By November 10, 2025, U.S. federal contractors and subcontractors in the Defense Industrial Base (DIB) handling CUI must comply with CMMC 2.0. In her latest guide, Julie Chatman MBA, CISM, a Principal with BD Emerson, shares insights into System Security Plans (SSP) as a ticket to achieving CMMC Level 2 certification or qualifying for contracts that handle CUI. Here’s what every strong SSP should include: ✅ Documented implementation of all 110 NIST 800-171 practices — with clear ownership, methods, and evidence. ✅ Policy and procedure pairing — defining both what you do and how you do it. ✅ Integrated POA&M — connecting known gaps to actionable remediation plans. ✅ Defined scope and data flows — because you can’t protect what you don’t see. ✅ Continuous improvement loop — SSPs should evolve as your systems and risks evolve. 🔗 Read Julie’s full blog post and start building your roadmap to certification and resilience with BD Emerson: https://lnkd.in/dVwGmpw6

Zero trust can’t stop at firewalls and identities. It has to reach Layer 0. At the tactical edge, manual patching introduces risk, delay, and blind spots that defense networks can’t afford. Secure optical switching brings zero-trust principles directly to the physical fiber layer—enforcing role-based access control, immutable audit logs, and zero-downtime switching in seconds. Our latest article explains how defense data-center automation enables authenticated, remote fiber control across forward operating bases, mobile command posts, and coalition networks. → https://lnkd.in/gQDDNKMk #ZeroTrust #DefenseNetworks #SecureOpticalSwitching #Layer0 #DefenseAutomation #MissionCritical #CyberPhysicalSecurity
