Jeremy Osterberger shared thisThe FOUR Largest Industrial Projects Under Construction in the Lower 48.Jeremy Osterberger shared thisDriven by a massive push to reshore critical tech supply chains and expand clean energy, the landscape of industrial megaprojects in the Lower 48 is currently dominated by historic multi-billion-dollar semiconductor and manufacturing campuses. 1. TSMC Semiconductor Megafab (Phoenix, Arizona) Estimated Investment: $165 billion What's being built: Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) is constructing a massive advanced manufacturing hub. The master plan includes up to six semiconductor fabrication plants (fabs), two advanced packaging plants, and a dedicated research center. Current Status: Construction is aggressively moving forward. Following the operational rollout of its first fab producing 4-nanometer chips, TSMC reached a major milestone by completing the main structure (topping off) of its third fab. 2. Micron Technology Megafab (Clay, New York) Estimated Investment: $100+ billion What's being built: Marking the largest private investment in New York State history, Micron is building a sprawling memory-chip manufacturing hub at White Pine Commerce Park in Onondaga County. The multi-decade project will ultimately encompass four separate fabrication plants housing the nation’s largest cleanroom space (equivalent to roughly 40 football fields). Current Status: After extensive site preparation and infrastructure planning, construction on the first phase kicked into high gear with heavy hitters like Bechtel mobilizing on-site. Micron targets the end of the decade to have the first wave of production online, aiming for Upstate New York to eventually supply one in four U.S.-made memory chips. 3. Samsung Semiconductor Manufacturing Facility (Taylor, Texas) Estimated Investment: $25 billion-$37 billion What's being built: Situated just northeast of Austin on a 1,200-acre site, Samsung's new campus spans over 6 million square feet. Current Status: After navigating minor macroeconomic pauses and funding adjustments, construction resumed at full speed. Work is heavily focused on completing the initial 3.6-million-square-foot primary fabrication building, which remains the single largest industrial project scheduled to wrap up structural delivery and push toward full equipment commissioning. 4. Intel "Ohio One" Semiconductor Campus (New Albany, Ohio) Estimated Investment: $28 billion What's being built: Dubbed the "Silicon Heartland," Intel's massive project consists of two leading-edge chip factories built simultaneously across a 1,000-acre site. Current Status: Intel adjusted its long-term rollout pace to align with market demand, pushing full commercial production targets into the turn of the decade. However, heavy construction is actively progressing on the ground. Having already poured over 200,000 cubic yards of concrete to finish the vast basement infrastructure, crews are currently erecting the heavy above-ground superstructures and ramping up specialized construction hiring.
