Jerry Baack shared thisIncredible experience working 23 years with MJ - best hire ever!Jerry Baack shared thisWe are incredibly proud to share that Board Member and former EVP & Chief Strategy Officer Mary Jayne Crocker has been named the 2026 Women in Business Career Achievement honoree by the Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journal (MSPBJ)! As the bank’s very first employee, Mary Jayne helped build Bridgewater from the ground up, shaping our operations, cultivating our culture, and helping set the strategic foundation that fueled our growth to the second largest bank headquartered in Minnesota. Yet, even more notable is Mary Jayne’s people-first approach to leadership and the enduring impact she has had on our team, our clients, and the broader Twin Cities business community. Congratulations, Mary Jayne! #BWBproud #womeninbusiness #careerachievement #localbank #womeninleadership

Jerry Baack liked thisJerry Baack liked thisAs I begin my final semester at the University of St. Thomas, I’ve been reflecting on my marketing internship at Bridgewater Bank and all that I’ve learned along the way. During my time at Bridgewater, I had the opportunity to create branded marketing graphics, support communication initiatives, and help plan and execute events. These experiences strengthened my skills in graphic design, communication, collaboration, and project coordination, while giving me valuable insight into what it means to work in a marketing role. One of my biggest takeaways from this experience has been the importance of staying flexible, approaching new challenges with a positive attitude, and being willing to learn along the way. I’m especially grateful to Stephanie Wright for her guidance, support, and encouragement throughout my internship. I’m also excited to share that I’ll be continuing with Bridgewater Bank part-time this fall! Thank you to the entire Bridgewater team for making this such a meaningful and rewarding experience. I’m looking forward to carrying these lessons and experiences with me as I continue growing both personally and professionally.

Jerry Baack liked thisJerry Baack liked thisYesterday, we had a fun day cheering on the Twins, soaking up the sunshine, and spending time together as a team. We kicked things off with breakfast, company trivia, and a raffle before heading to the game. It was a great opportunity to step away from the day-to-day, have some fun, and connect outside the office.⚾️ We’re already looking forward to keeping this annual tradition going! 💙❤️ #hempelrealestate #mntwins

Jerry Baack liked thisJerry Baack liked thisWe won! After a jury trial that spanned two weeks and included dozens of witnesses, countless hours of testimony, and a mountain of evidence, a jury comprised of fellow Louisvillians agreed with us and found that the City of Prospect acted unlawfully when they conspired to stop the development of Prospect Cove from moving forward. The work to provide affordable housing in Prospect began nearly 10 years ago and was driven by our guiding belief that everyone deserves a quality place to live. While we had hoped that we would be able to win the support of Prospect community by incorporating some of the feedback they provided into proposed design, it didn’t take long to realize that their objections were really about the people this development would serve and not about the buildings that would occupy the site. As such, winning many of the Prospect officials’ support was not something we would ever be able to achieve despite our best efforts. One of the core beliefs that has guided LDG for more than 30 years is our guiding philosophy that affordable housing should be in all parts of the community and not concentrated in a particular zip code or area. We know that there are very few developers who would be willing to wage a costly fight against one of the wealthiest areas of our community on behalf of the families they serve. That is certainly not something we set out to do when we embarked on this journey. But in the words of Mark Twain, “there’s never a wrong time to do the right thing,” and so while we were not eager to take this on, backing away from it was never an option we were willing to consider because the Prospect Cove represents more than just housing, it represents fighting for a Louisville we can all be proud of. This verdict is a vindication that we made the right decision.

Jerry Baack liked thisJerry Baack liked thisIn 2020, a client of mine made a difficult decision. He sold several apartment properties in Minneapolis and took a $3 million loss. At the time, that was unusual. We hadn’t seen multifamily owners in the Twin Cities lose money on properties in a long time. I questioned whether selling was the right move. Why not hold and give the market time to recover? But he was convinced things were shifting and decided to move his money elsewhere. Looking back, his timing was good. Values continued to decline and interest rates rose. Had he held, his losses would have been significantly larger.

"Traditional financing, is not within reach for some borrowers — which is where Community Development Financial Institutions (CDFIs) save the day. These lenders often work side by side with banks to fill gaps in access and expand capital to neighborhoods that are under-resourced."🏡🌱 Wisconsin Bankers Association sat down with Kathryn Dunn, President and CVO of WWBIC (a statewide economic development organization and a WBA associate member) to discuss all this and more.
