I attribute “legend status” in our biz to a select few who have truly shaped the lives and careers of multitudes. You are one, I was lucky enough to be one of those you invested in and I still learn something every time we connect. All the best, and as you do, make your mark through others✊🏼

Justin Funk liked thisJustin Funk liked thisReally excited to share that Phase3D has been selected as a finalist for the 2026 ATI Horizons: Maritime Manufacturing Innovation Challenge! I’ll be presenting at Defense TechConnect in Washington DC next week, alongside some incredible technologies focused on strengthening U.S. shipbuilding and the maritime industrial base. To support US National Defense, we need the data to understand what’s happening during manufacturing and ultimately build confidence that #additivemanufacturing processes can deliver reliably and repeatedly. I’m looking forward to sharing how Fringe Inspection™ brings quantitative measurement directly into the manufacturing process, giving engineers objective data while the part is being made rather than waiting until it’s finished to find out what happened. Excited to get in front of the panel on September 23 and represent the Phase3D team! More on the Challenge and what we’ll be presenting here: https://lnkd.in/gSc7Xa7P... #AdditiveManufacturing #DefenseManufacturing #InSituInspection #MaritimeManufacturing #Phase3D

Justin Funk liked thisThis is crazyJustin Funk liked thisAfter digging through more Medicare Advantage numbers, there’s such blatant corruption that defies not just economic principles, not just healthcare principles, but somehow lets MA insurers make 3 TIMES the gross profit margins when compared to normal private insurance margins. Using KFF's analysis of insurer financial filings, I looked at gross margin per enrollee, meaning premium revenue minus the medical claims insurers actually paid out. In 2024, Medicare Advantage insurers kept $1,655 per enrollee. Individual market plans kept $987. Fully insured employer plans kept $846. Medicaid managed care kept $608. What makes no sense is that, like Medicare Advantage, Medicaid runs through private insurer contracts. 78% of Medicaid beneficiaries, more than 66 million people, are enrolled in private managed care plans, and five publicly traded insurers, Centene, UnitedHealth, Elevance, Molina, and CVS/Aetna, control 47% of that enrollment. These are the exact same companies that administer MA plans, paid by the same government, yet in the MA program they keep nearly 3x as much per enrollee. This happens every single year. Between 2018 through 2024, MA gross profit margin was higher than self funded plans, fully insured employer plans, and Medicaid plans. If we simply cut down on the exploitation of the MA program, stopped insurer lobbyists from persuading Congress to keep awarding BILLIONS in "quality bonuses," stopped insurers from upcoding their own charts, and actually controlled the program, we could bring MA gross margins down to the level of Medicaid, another government-funded, privately administered program. That alone would free up roughly $35 billion a year in federal funding. Over the past 10 years, through the RVU fee schedule adjustment, physicians have lost around $34 billion in compensation because “Medicare is running out of money. If we simply cut down on the ridiculous profits of MA, in a single year, we can reverse the damage caused by the fee schedule cuts over the past decade. While Medicaid certainly has its issues, the government has shown the ability to run a privately administered insurance program that controls insurance profits. Why do we simply allow Medicare Advantage to not be subject to the same rules? Why are we paying them BILLIONS in taxpayer money while they deny care, cause excessive friction, and hurt the people they are meant to serve? Especially if you work in private practice or in healthcare leadership where you’ve seen the financial impact of these physician cuts on your practice, I would love to get connected. I would love to hear about how this has changed your practice and how we might be able to work together!

Justin Funk liked thisJustin Funk liked thisThank you to everyone who joined “Building a Cost-Conscious Culture for Modern Government IT" webinar hosted by Government Technology & sponsored by CloudNuro. A special thank you to Anthony L. McPhearson, MBA, Chief Information Officer(CIO) at DuPage County, for sharing a perspective that stood out: Cost-conscious doesn’t mean cutting technology spend. It means knowing what you’re spending, why you’re spending it, and the value you’re getting. One practical place to start: Discover what’s actually in your technology environment, then optimize licenses, usage and spend. Thank you, Shyam Kumar for sharing thoughtful insights, and Sean McSpaden for a great discussion during the webinar. Justin Funk liked thisPhase3D and EOS - been sitting on this announcement for a while now! Check out the conversation belowJustin Funk liked thisWhat makes a strong partnership? Openness, trust, and a shared ambition to advance technology. 🤝 That is exactly what connects EOS and Phase3D. By integrating advanced powder bed monitoring technology directly into the printing process, we can generate valuable data that helps users better understand part quality and creates a clearer path toward qualification - especially for demanding aerospace applications. At IMTS - International Manufacturing Technology Show, Niall O'Dowd, PhD Founder and CEO of Phase3D, and Mirco Schöpf from EOS discuss how the partnership is moving both companies forward and creating tangible value for our customers. 📢 Watch the conversation then continue it with us tonight.
