Karin Risi shared thisI recently had the privilege of experiencing Gwynedd Mercy Academy High School from two different perspectives: as the recipient of the Trocaire Leadership Award in Business and as Commencement speaker for the Class of 2026. Both experiences reinforced the importance of developing not just capable students, but confident, resilient young women who are ready to take on responsibility, embrace challenges, and lead with purpose. More than 35 years after graduating from Gwynedd, I continue to be inspired by its mission and the remarkable students, faculty, and alumnae who bring it to life. My sincere thanks to Gwynedd’s President, Denise Marbach, for the invitation to speak at commencement and for her leadership of this exceptional community. Congratulations, Class of 2026. I look forward to seeing all that you accomplish!

Karin Risi shared thisOne of the most valuable parts of board service is spending time with colleagues across the organization. I recently joined the SEI Women’s Network for a conversation with CEO Ryan Hicke to celebrate Women’s History Month. Supporting the advancement of women in financial services has been important to me throughout my career. The thoughtful questions and engagement from colleagues across SEI led to a great discussion about leadership, the industry, and where things are headed. It was especially fun to share the conversation with Ryan, whose energy and leadership clearly come through in the culture at SEI. Thanks to Andrea Huban, Jamie Stollsteimer, Emily Swope, SHRM-CP, Caroline Kusturiss, and Matt Potter for the invitation and for the work you are doing to bring the SWN community together. Karin Risi shared thisI returned to #ColumbiaBusinessSchool last week for an engaging discussion with MBA students in the Psychology and Economics of Consumer Finance class. This year’s conversation explored multiple trends shaping the asset and wealth management industry, including the convergence of public and private markets, whether AI is poised to replace investment advisors, and how scale, strategic focus and leadership intent can be enduring competitive advantages. I had the chance to catch up with several students after class. Those small interactions are a powerful reminder of why showing up matters. The conversation with students rarely ends when the class does, reinforcing with each visit that I get to learn just as much from their perspectives as they might from mine. We had the best day today listening in on Bill McNabb's - former CEO of Vanguard - episode recording for Barry Ritholtz's Masters in Business at Bloomberg - talking about everything from the role of luck in one's career to his favorite wealth tech companies democratizing growth in the industry and improving investor outcomes, such as FINNY. Can't wait for for the episode to come out in September. Bill, who sits on our FINNY board, then came into the office for lunch - which naturally turned into an impromptu fireside chat about his life. Safe to say the team walked out with an MBA ;)

It is also a career milestone as today is my official retirement date from Vanguard - a place I have called home for two decades. Vanguard's mission is noble and inspiring. However, it is the people that make this place special. I will be forever thankful to the friends, mentors and peers I have learned from and laughed with on my journey. I cannot list all of you, but you know who you are. I will share updates on the next chapter, but for now I could not be prouder of being a very small part of such a great company. JB

An Olympian, Villanova University Hall of Famer, respected Vanguard investment leader and devoted family man, Gerry was admired for his extraordinary accomplishments as well as the compassion and integrity that defined his life. Known for his sense of humor and quick wit, Gerry was a gleaming example of how a good and heartfelt life can be both fulfilling and fun. Friends and colleagues described him as "the nicest guy," "kind and generous" and "a giant in every sense except ego." Even in his untimely passing, Gerry continued to make a profound impact. Through the gift of organ donation, his final act of generosity saved multiple lives. We honor Gerry's exceptional life and powerful legacy.
