Kellee Khalil shared thisOne of my favorite things we do at Loverly is celebrate the people behind the celebrations. ❤️ Today we launched the third annual Loverly List, and this year feels especially meaningful. More than 16,500 wedding professionals were nominated, and we’re celebrating 1,250 winners across 13 categories... from photographers and planners to florists, venues, content creators, hair & makeup artists, caterers, innovators and so many more. I’ve always believed that the wedding industry is powered by an incredible community of people who pour so much creativity, care and craft into making someone else’s biggest day feel unforgettable. They deserve their moment, too. So, if you’re planning a wedding, work in the industry, or just love discovering incredibly talented people, go take a look at this year’s list. There are so many amazing humans and businesses to discover. And to every person who was nominated, recognized or named to this year’s Loverly List: thank you for making this industry what it is. You deserve to be celebrated. 🥂 Check out the full list → https://lnkd.in/gMchSCVAThe Loverly List 2026 | Best Wedding Vendors | LoverlyThe Loverly List 2026 | Best Wedding Vendors | Loverly

Kellee Khalil reposted thisKellee Khalil reposted this🚨 Breaking News: EnergyX has been selected by the U.S. Army for a conditional long-term lease to build and operate a lithium processing facility at Red River Army Depot in Texas. EnergyX is one of just four companies selected through the Army's Strategic Capital Initiatives and the only company selected for lithium. The planned facility will process domestic lithium into battery-grade lithium hydroxide, lithium carbonate, lithium metal, and nuclear-grade lithium isotopes, helping strengthen America's critical mineral supply chain while supporting both national defense and the clean energy transition. This project builds on our work in the Smackover formation and extends the vision of Project Lonestar™, reinforcing our commitment to building a secure, sustainable, domestic lithium supply chain. Kellee Khalil liked thisThis week I had the chance to speak to the UT community at EnergizeUT. Thank you, Dr. Brian Korgel and the organizing team, for the invitation. I gave a short history of lithium. It started as medicine and aircraft alloy. Then came Whittingham, Goodenough, Sony, the iPhone, Tesla, and a niche chemical became the most strategic mineral on earth. The uncomfortable part: the chemistry was American, but the industry was not. Prof. Goodenough invented LFP right here at UT in 1997, and the whole midstream of production ended up in China. What most people don't realize is that the lithium is already here in the US, especially in the Smackover formation under Texas and Arkansas. We just never had a good way to get it out. Ponds in South America take 18 months and lose half of it. Hard rock processing is expensive and dirty. That's what we're solving at EnergyX . Direct lithium extraction pulls lithium out of brine in hours, at 90%+ recovery, from a plant instead of a salt flat. The resource is here, and now the technology is too. UT is where this started for me. Sitting "Between Two Cacti" on campus five years later, talking about lithium, felt like a full circle.

Better over dinner. 🍽️ On Monday, October 5, J.P. Morgan and DealMaker are putting a small group of founders and investors around one table during SF Tech Week. Small on purpose, so everyone actually gets to talk about raising, scaling, and what comes next. J.P. Morgan's startup banking team works with founders from first check through IPO, while founders on DealMaker have raised over $2.5B through Reg A, CF, and D offerings. We've posted about solar PV as an ENERGY source and specifically that it is not a substantive CAPACITY source. At present the grid operator, PJM, derates NJ solar PV plant nameplate capacity by a whopping 89% (i.e. a 1,000 MW plant provides only about 110 MW of capacity). And if you think that's bad, as grid renewable sources increase, capacity derations of all renewable sources drive higher. A simple way to conceptualize this: consider that a 100% renewable energy grid will not function because it has zero capacity. This is because renewable sources are dependent on "iron in the ground" to create a grid from which renewables can plug into for the opportunity to function. Hence as we add renewable energy plants, we weaken the grid and as we approach 100% renewable, we ultimately kill the grid. And as I've said before, Governor Murphy's knee-jerk move to solve the grid's capacity problem by incentivizing adding more solar PV is like adding fuel to a fire with the expectation of extinguishing it. The bottom line is that there is no electricity source that is more reliable and cost-effective than thermal power plants. Here is an article from Mitch Rolling and Isaac Orr (The Energy Bad Boys) that explains this very subtle, but important pitfall of renewable energy. https://lnkd.in/eXuVE6sB

Just had a great intro call with Rich and Edgar Puga y Vidals. These two are the real deal. MIT-educated brothers who co-founded Apis Energy Technologies in 2023 to tackle residential electricity costs and emissions. What struck me most wasn't the tech — it was the energy. Positive. Curious. Grounded in real-world execution, not just theory. They're building at the intersection of power hardware, AI, and energy market strategy. Not a lab experiment. Deployable, revenue-generating solutions for households. Edgar runs operations, financial strategy, and the messy work of actually getting technology into real markets. Rich drives the vision. Together they've got the rare combination: technical depth and commercial pragmatism. The game they're playing: lower end-user costs while aligning with decarbonization policy. Economic value and climate value. Not either/or. I love meeting founders who bring curiosity to every conversation. Who ask good questions. Who are clearly in it for the long haul. Rich and Edgar have that. Excited to see where Apis Energy goes — and looking forward to finding ways to be helpful.
