Leigh Zils shared thisThe future of rural healthcare won't be shaped by buildings alone. Through conversations with hospital leaders across the country, Taylor Design's Cove Studio uncovered a deeper challenge: the people keeping these essential community institutions running are being asked to do more with less every year. Supported by a 2025 ONEder Grant from One Workplace, the team transformed those insights into four AI-enabled tools designed to help small hospital teams spend less time navigating obstacles and more time focused on the communities they serve. Because great design starts with understanding people. Leigh Zils shared thisPeople don't connect because they're assigned a desk. They connect in places that make them want to stay. Project: Confidential Technology Client New York City Club Client: Confidential Global Technology Leader Design + Architecture: Client Design Leaders + Gensler; Khaing Sabe, Principal Designer Furniture & Ancillary Solutions: One Workplace Steps from Bryant Park, this hospitality-inspired Club was designed to support conversation, community, and belonging. One Workplace partnered with Gensler and the client's in-house design team to furnish an approximately 16,000-square-foot destination that feels more like a favorite lounge than a corporate office. Every element, from sustainable, leather-free finishes to furnishings chosen for comfort and inclusivity, was selected with human experience in mind. The result is a workplace people choose to spend time in, proving that when design prioritizes connection, the office becomes something more meaningful. Leigh Zils shared thisWork is evolving. How do we evolve with it while keeping people first? The Big Shift, part of the Steelcase Connecting Communities Tour, invites you into an experience built to stir new thinking around purpose, connection, and the human side of work that often gets overlooked. Explore environments designed to be felt as much as seen. Interact with technology that supports, rather than distracts. Connect with others who are asking real questions about culture, space, and what the future of work should look like. The Hybrid Work Tour makes these ideas real, moving beyond theory into something you can step into and experience for yourself. See the future of work in action, engage in honest conversations, and return inspired to make a difference. Start exploring and save your seat: https://lnkd.in/gat5ufeQ

Leigh Zils shared thisThe way we connect is changing. Are our spaces keeping up? The Steelcase Connecting Communities Tour is an invitation to step beyond the usual and into a series of experiences designed to spark new ways of thinking. It brings together voices, spaces, and ideas to explore how our workplaces, learning environments, and care settings are evolving, and what that means for the people inside them. Move through spaces that tell a story. Hear perspectives that challenge assumptions. Take part in conversations that dig deeper into how collaboration, wellbeing, and performance can be reimagined in a changing world. If you’re exploring how to better support your people, today and into the future, this is a meaningful place to begin. Start exploring and save your seat: https://lnkd.in/gat5ufeQ

Leigh Zils shared thisWhen something is lost, what remains—and how does it shape what comes next? On April 8 in San Francisco, join us for the ONEder Grant Presentations, where Emerging Objects will share Under Fire, a project shaped by the realities of building in fire-affected environments. Their work looks at how materials, place, and memory can intersect in unexpected ways. Rather than focusing only on new solutions, it asks how design can hold onto what matters while making space for what comes next. Register: https://lnkd.in/dvtPbw97 April 8 | 5:30–7:30 PM 88 Jackson Street, San Francisco An evening to listen, reflect, and exchange ideas.

Leigh Zils shared thisIn conversation with Marita Diffenbaugh, this episode reframes learning as a human-centered service, not just content delivery. The focus shifts to listening, relationships, and real-world application, while challenging how we define and measure success. When learning is designed around people, it becomes more meaningful, and more impactful.ONEder Podcast Episode - Designing Learning That MattersONEder Podcast Episode - Designing Learning That Matters

Leigh Zils shared thisThe newest ONEder Podcast episode explores AI beyond the hype, with Julie Maggos sharing how IA Interior Architects is thoughtfully integrating AI into real design workflows. The biggest takeaway? AI can take on the busy work—so designers can spend more time on vision, storytelling, and impact. Max Sharbach was essential to my success at One Workplace, where I worked for almost 10 years. As were far too many more to name. It’s been a long time since we worked together, yet we’ve stayed in touch. Had a great conversation and I had the opportunity to say a huge thank you for his tremendous contribution to my success while we worked together! He’s continuing his success now at OWP! #sales #teamwork

Leigh Zils reacted on thisLeigh Zils reacted on thisSometimes one photo tells a whole story. Last week at the CREW Silicon Valley Impact Awards, I looked around and realized just how full-circle this season of my life has been. I was being honored as President. Elisabeth was announced as our incoming President-Elect. And Branden was graduating from the CREW SV Rising Leaders Mentorship Program. Three people. Three different chapters. One very full-circle moment. Elisabeth has been part of my life and Asset Locale for the last five years. We built a lot together. She left Asset Locale last month to take her next step. And now she’s stepping into CREW SV leadership. That makes me incredibly proud. Brandon was our summer leasing intern last year. He came into Asset Locale as a university student learning the business, figuring things out, asking questions, and soaking it all in. And now he’s graduating from the Rising Leaders program. Watching people grow is one of my favorite parts of leadership. But here’s the part that got me… These are people who helped build Asset Locale. People who showed up. People who contributed. People who became part of the story. And on this particular night, we were all being celebrated for something completely different. I was honored as President. Elisabeth was stepping into her next leadership role. Brandon was being recognized for his growth. And somehow, we ended up in the same photo. That’s the part I want to remember. Because business isn’t just about what you build. It's about who you build it with And sometimes you look around the room and realize… Oh. This is what it was all for.... The relationships. The growth. The people who came into your life for a season and left a permanent mark. Feeling very grateful for this one. #CREWSiliconValley #CREWNetwork #Leadership #WomenInCRE #CommercialRealEstate #Mentorship #Community

Leigh Zils reacted on thisLeigh Zils reacted on thisLast month, I wrapped up the biggest project of my career. An 18-year project that came in way over budget…but finished exactly on schedule. Like any good project, there were plenty of surprises along the way: * Scope changed almost daily. * Countless change orders. * More risk management than I ever anticipated. * A few late nights. * And a lot of incredible teammates (thank you coaches, teachers, friends, and family). Last month, we dropped our oldest son off for his freshman year at the University of Colorado Boulder. Now we’re down to the punch list: * Frame a picture of the dog for his desk. * Send another with his high school friends. * Ship the things he forgot. * Resist the urge to keep managing the project. That last one may be the hardest. As project managers, we spend our careers planning, solving problems, and reducing risk. Parenting isn’t all that different. But eventually every project reaches substantial completion, and your job shifts from directing the work to trusting what you’ve built. Here’s to the next chapter. I’m incredibly proud of the young man he’s become and excited to see where his next project takes him. Project complete. Phase Two begins.

Leigh Zils reacted on thisLeigh Zils reacted on thisWhen I was looking for a job, I told my husband, “I want to land somewhere where I’m part of a team, doing something a little different every day, and tackling work that calls for creative solutions.” I thank my lucky stars that I landed at One Workplace. I’m officially three months (yet 14 weeks) in, and I have never felt so creatively challenged, in the best way. I’m producing content at a whole new level and am surrounded by fellow problem-solvers every day. Though I’m new to the industry, I’m learning quickly thanks to the support of my team - there are far too many people to tag in one post. I hope you know who you are and how grateful I am for you! Thank you to my new colleague Sara Gillette for turning the camera toward me for a moment. New profile picture unlocked!

Leigh Zils reacted on thisLeigh Zils reacted on thisSometimes the best career moves aren't about finding something new. They're about returning to a place that feels like home. After five wonderful years with Kreuger Properties / Asset Locale, Inc., I'm excited to share that I've accepted the role of Vice President of Property Services at Heritage Realty Group. Heritage was where my career in property management began. I spent 14 incredible years there learning the business, building lifelong relationships, and growing from my very first role into a leader. It was more than just my workplace. It was home, and it laid the foundation for the career I've built today. Leaving Heritage years ago gave me the opportunity to grow in new ways, and my time at Kreuger / Asset Locale has been an invaluable part of that journey. I'm incredibly grateful for the experiences, the trust, the friendships, and the talented people I had the privilege of working alongside over the past five years. Now, coming back in a new capacity feels especially meaningful. I'm honored to return as VP and excited to help lead the next chapter alongside a team that has always held a special place in my heart. Here's to new beginnings, familiar faces, and the exciting road ahead. 🎉

We spend so much time talking about beds, safety, and ligature resistance in behavioral health design, but what about something as simple and as powerful as personal space? The new Clark Compartment from Norix Furniture, in collaboration with Stephen N. Parker AIA NOMA NCARB LEED AP, exemplifies where the future of healthcare design is heading, with leaders in the industry like Stephen helping shift that conversation to something bigger. It's not just a ligature-resistant storage solution. It's a reminder that even the smallest elements in a space can: Restore a sense of ownership Reduce the institutional feel Support better patient outcomes ”For patients in crisis, if my belongings don’t have space, how do I belong in this place?” If you're specifying for behavioral health and want to see how the Clark Compartment fits your next project, let's connect.
