As young as 4 years old, I always wanted to be a farmer, because they grow stuff from nothing. And while I didn’t become a farmer in the literal sense, my intrinsic desire to make things grow, whether that be a business or an individual’s career, is still very much alive. In fact, this, combined with a desire to take risks and to push things where they’ve never been before, is what fuels me.
I’m a serial entrepreneur who’s started and sold four companies. Most recently Jet.com, which sold to Walmart for $3.3 billion in 2016 and prior to that, Diapers.com/Quidsi which sold to Amazon in 2011 for $550 million.
As an entrepreneur, I’ve learned how to build a mission-driven culture, prioritize the customer value proposition, build great teams and empower them to move fast to get stuff done. I’m a mercenary turned missionary. Because of this, I’m passionate about helping other founders make sense of the startup world, because I know from experience it can be difficult to navigate.
On LinkedIn I write about things that are top of mind and lessons I’ve learned along the way – ranging from leadership and culture, to funding and scaling, and how companies both large and small can benefit from a startup mindset. I also host Startup Standup, a series where I mentor and advise female founders who are preparing to secure their first (or next!) round of institutional funding.

Marc Lore shared thisWonder's mission is to make great food more accessible. That means serving more people, in more places, at more times of day, at lower prices. In service of that mission, we’re building a fully autonomous food system that plans, cooks and delivers meals without human involvement, so we can offer delicious, nutritious meals for less than the cost of delivered groceries. Doing that at scale requires intense focus and the right partners. I'm pleased to announce that today, Wonder is entering into a strategic partnership with DoorDash. The partnership includes a $125 million investment in Wonder's Series D round and an agreement to sell the Grubhub Campus Dining business to DoorDash for $300 million. Our partnership with DoorDash strengthens the world-class food technology platform we’re building, and the fundamentally reimagined production architecture, robotics and increasingly autonomous delivery that make it possible. Their investment adds to the incredible momentum of our Series D and will help propel us into our next chapter. Now more than ever, focus is everything. We must direct our capital, technology and leadership attention toward the engines that will define Wonder's future: new store openings, our expansion into Texas in January, robotics, AI and the national marketplace of local restaurants. All of it part of a physical AI operating system for higher-quality, more affordable food. That same focus is why we've agreed to sell Grubhub Campus Dining to DoorDash. Campus Dining is an exceptional business built by an exceptional team, and Rob DelaCruz, Daniel Better, Steve Iarocci and Lyle Margerum have grown it leaps and bounds. DoorDash is the right partner to take it even further. What excites me most, though, is how naturally our visions complement each other. We’re intent on redefining the infrastructure for how the world eats and that vision is only possible if the customers and communities we serve are thriving. Marc Lore shared thisToday, Wonder launched the Infinite Makeline, our AI-powered robotic bowl assembly system. It can produce up to 500 bowls per hour, from Mexican and Greek cuisine to salads and poke bowls, using the highest quality ingredients and producing consistent quality. It’s an early step toward our 2040 vision: fully autonomous planning, cooking and delivery, making restaurant-quality meals as affordable as delivered groceries and as nutritious as home cooking. We’re building the Physical AI platform for food: programmable infrastructure that thinks, decides and executes in the physical world. Next comes expanding robotics into new applications and scaling drone delivery, bringing customers more variety and customization at lower prices with greater accuracy and speed. The way people eat has changed, but the infrastructure built to feed them has not. We’re building a new production architecture from the ground up, backed by technology, automation and robotics that break the traditional relationship between variety, complexity and cost. The result is dramatically higher throughput, greater choice and customization, better economics, and ultimately more affordable food without compromising quality or the customer experience. Our vision is to build a platform that can serve all 21 weekly meal occasions and fundamentally redefine how people eat. It comes down to the whole system. 25+ restaurants across every cuisine, cooking under one roof, no gas, no flames, on a fully vertically integrated delivery platform. Owning the full stack is what lets us bring quality and convenience together. We also dug into the technology, robotics and AI behind it, plus the upcoming launch of Wonder Create. Soon, anyone will be able to build their own restaurant concept for $10 a month, with us handling the sourcing, cooking, and delivery. Wonder recently closed another $650 million in our Series D, and we talked through what that means for our future, from the robotics we're putting to work in the kitchen to the next phase of our growth. Since I last posted about funding just over a year ago, we've more than tripled our footprint, going from 46 to 140 locations. And we have no plans to slow down. From day one, the mission has been to make great food more accessible, and we're well on our way to realizing that vision. Jack spent nearly 25 years at Chipotle, helping grow it from fewer than 200 restaurants to more than 3,500. That's one of the great disciplined-growth stories in the industry. Before that, he helped lead finance at McDonald's for close to two decades. As Wonder prepares for the public markets, his experience building and scaling a high-performing public company is exactly what we need in the room. Today, I'm proud to share our first-ever Community Impact Report, detailing the tremendous work our team did in 2025 to build a future where food systems operate more efficiently, food waste is reduced, and more people can access the nutritious meals they need. When we say our mission is to make great food more accessible, we mean more than the meals we cook and deliver. In 2025, that commitment looked like: • Directing nearly 60% of our corporate and philanthropic funding toward organizations and initiatives focused on increasing access to healthy food for people experiencing food insecurity. • Partnering to recover and redirect nearly 65 million pounds of food to food banks, pantries, and community organizations nationwide. • Supporting more than 500 local organizations through grants, sponsorships, volunteer efforts, and employee-led initiatives. We've been focused on bringing great food to more people, in more places, at lower prices, and drone delivery is the latest way we're expanding access through faster service and hotter food. Marc Lore liked thisMarc Lore liked this🔊 It was February 2023 when yours truly sat down with Marc Lore to chat about a company he had founded not too long ago called Wonder. We were sitting in a new Wonder location in New York City talking over some snazzy Wonder menu items. Marc told me about his new vision for a company that originally began by way of delivering chef-inspired food on food trucks. I remember coming away thinking. Hmm, Marc is going to get this done. I saw how he saved Walmart’s US ecommerce business when he led it, and I saw the retail innovations he brought as the founder of Jet.com. Since that 2023 chat, a few milestone moments for Marc: 📈 September 2023 brought the acquisition of Blue Apron for $103 million. 📈 Wonder raised $700 million in March 2024, valuing the business around $1.5 billion at the time. 📈 In November 2024, Wonder bought Grubhub for $650 million. 📈 In November 2025, Wonder bought Spyce from Sweetgreen for $186 million to get its infinite kitchen technology. 📈 In June 2025 the NBA Board of Governors unanimously approved the sale of the controlling interest in the Minnesota Timberwolves and Lynx to Marc and Alex Rodriguez. And just a week ago, Marc and Wonder announced a $650 million Series D round at a pre-money valuation of $9 billion. Marc and I caught back up today on my show Opening Bid on Yahoo Finance:
