Martin Slusarz reposted thisIt has been my pleasure to serve as a mentor to Gabrielle Paliska for the past two years! She will graduate from Purdue University Northwest in December, 2024 with a Bachelor of Science degree and a concentration in Marketing. She is looking for a place to start her professional career. Over these past two years, she has continued to impress me on so many fronts and I wanted to introduce her to all of you. Gabrielle Paliska has had a highly successful career as both a business student as well as a collegiate athlete. As a student, she has achieved a 3.8/4.0 GPA, been named to the Honors Program, and been named to the Dean's List for all semesters. These academic accomplishments are the result of her thirst to learn and her efforts to master the subjects she studies. As a collegiate athlete, she has received All-Conference Honors, made the All-Conference Team, and received NCAA Academic Honors. She is an AMAZING softball pitcher!! She has also had success in extracurricular activities, part-time work and serving as a private pitching coach. Gabrielle Paliska is someone every wants on their team! Some of her skills and abilities that make that clear: -Gets things done timely and accurately -Is both a great individual performer as well as a team player -Pays attention to details -Is a highly effective communicator and collaborator -Is highly flexible and is deadline driven -Does whatever it takes! Here are 10 common interview questions and how to prepare for each, so you get a job offer: 1) What do you consider your greatest weakness? • Highlight a past weakness and the steps you took to overcome it and demonstrate your growth • Start with "I'm not sure about my greatest weakness but I can talk about a weakness in the past and how I overcame it" 2) What sets you apart from other candidates? • Use this question to highlight your top 5 strengths directly related to this role, from the job description • Look to see which strengths they are looking for, and give examples of you possessing these traits in prior roles 3) Tell me a time you couldn’t meet a goal/deadline & how you handled it • Explain how you react to situations that don't go as planned • Explain a time when things didn't go as planned, how you fixed the situation, and lessons learned so it doesn't happen again 4) Tell me a time when you made a mistake. How did you handle it? • Illustrate how you overcome obstacles • Explain a time you made a mistake and highlight the things you did to fix the situation, and lessons you've learned so that mistake doesn't happen again 5) Why do you want to work for us/ this company? • Research the company and use this as a chance to talk about all the things you love about it • Mention why you like the position itself and why it's a great fit • Show excitement about the position and the company! 6) What is your greatest strength? • Look at the job description and only talk about strengths directly related to the role you are interviewing for • Show why you are a great fit for this role and explain how you have the skills that this job demands 7) Tell me about some of the most difficult problems you worked on and how you solved them • Show how your problem-solving skills and your thought process • You want the interviewer to feel confident in your ability to solve problems & create solutions 8) Describe a time when you successfully balanced several competing priorities • Elaborate on your multitasking and organizational skills • Explain how you organize your work and schedule your time • Use this to show that you get things done! 9) Why do you want to leave your current position? • Thank your current role for the things you've learned but explain why you're interested in this current role • Explain what you enjoy most about the company and the position you're interviewing for 10) What have been your most significant accomplishments? • Discuss problems that you've solved, related to this role • Talk about your top achievements that are directly related to this role, so the interviewer understands the value you bring to the company 👍 2024 will be the year you get a higher-paying job! ♻️ Too many people struggle with job interviews! Martin Slusarz liked thisMartin Slusarz liked thisWhat a wonderful few days at the Black Corporate Directors Conference at the beautiful Montage Laguna Beach last week. The agenda included thoughtful conversations spanning business, technology, healthcare, philanthropy, entertainment and civil society. We discussed leadership, innovation, opportunity and the important role corporations play in a changing world. A major theme was the power of the three Ps: people, philanthropy and purchasing. All three provide important ways for companies to expand opportunity and make a lasting difference. I also enjoyed spending time with directors from many JLL client companies, two JLL directors Matt Carter and Larry Quinlan, reconnecting with longtime friends and making new connections. Thank you to Ariel Investments, RUSSELL REYNOLDS ASSOC INC and Deloitte for hosting an outstanding conference in such a spectacular setting.

The more successful someone becomes, the easier it is to assume they've somehow outgrown the need to pause. From the outside, people like Simone Biles, Adele, Jacinda Ardern, and Arianna Huffington all seem unstoppable. Yet each made the courageous decision to pause, not because they lacked ambition, but because they recognized that even extraordinary people have limits. Success doesn't make us immune to being human. Somewhere along the way, we've confused pushing through with strength. But maybe true strength isn't pushing harder. Maybe it's having the self-awareness to pause before life forces you to. The people we admire most aren't superheroes, they are simply human.
