Mary K Haas reposted thisMary K Haas reposted thisGreene Tweed at the NASA Aerospace Battery Workshop🔋 Our very own Hyejin Kim and David Jhaveri recently represented Greene Tweed at the NASA Aerospace Battery Workshop. They joined a highly technical audience of experts from industry, government, and academia for focused discussions on the future of aerospace battery technology. Key takeaways of the workshop include a push toward battery-cell-level development to improve performance and safety, as well as battery-pack-level safety investigations by integrators and end-users. Attendees also highlighted the importance of active and passive thermal management, quality control, design and testing practices to prevent runaway reactions at the cell level. These conversations reinforce Greene Tweed’s commitment to supporting the aerospace industry—not only in traditional sectors, but with a forward-looking focus on Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) and Space as well. With battery technology adoption growing across these fields, Greene Tweed is ready to deliver advanced solutions for the most demanding requirements. Workshop attendees also had the opportunity to tour the renowned NASA Mission Control Center and observe the International Space Station's live control operations. Mary K Haas shared thisCarbon Removal was a hot topic at the 2022 Breakthrough Energy Summit in Seattle. Sustaera was proud to join an esteemed panel on the topic as a representative of Direct Air Capture technology. The IPCC highlights the scale of the challenge: projecting that preventing warming above 1.5C requires around 6 GtCO2 of atmospheric CO2 removal per year by 2050, on top of accelerated adoption of renewable energy and industry decarbonization. Our passion for a product that matters is what defines us at Sustaera. #BESummit2022 #carbonremoval #directaircapture

Mary K Haas liked thisMary K Haas liked this$100 million. 1,300 competitors from 88 countries. A science and technology prize, not a social impact one. And Mati Carbon won it. Adam asks Shantanu what that moment actually meant for the company. His answer isn't what you'd expect. The prize didn't just validate what they'd built, it expanded what they thought was possible. Because $50 million, he says, is a lot of money. It's also nowhere near enough for a planet. So instead of treating it as an arrival, they treated it as a starting gun. Three countries became seven in twelve months. The goal is now thirty, wherever the highest concentrations of smallholder farmers are. Not as the implementer at scale but as the developer of a technology that others can take and run with. The full story of how you get from oil and gas engineer to XPrize winner is in the comments.

Most electronic failures don't start in the circuit. Here's why: In the race to shrink, scale, and ship, potting gets treated as the last step. A formality. A protective layer. But after years formulating epoxy systems for satellites, surgical tools, and sensors in corrosive wells, I'll say it clearly: The potting compound isn't passive. It's structural. It determines whether your device survives heat, shock, humidity, or voltage spikes or dies quietly in the field. And yet, most teams don't see the trade-offs coming: 1. Need high thermal conductivity? You're managing viscosity. 2. Want chemical resistance? Expect longer cure times. 3. Targeting UL94 V-0? That changes flexibility, flow, dielectric strength. Every filler. Every ratio. Every choice, it rewrites how your system behaves. At Kohesi Bond, we don't treat epoxy like glue. We treat it like engineering. That means asking: — How does it cure inside your housing geometry? — What happens under 1,000 thermal cycles? — Will it delaminate in 3 years? — What's the failure mode if it's dropped at 70°C? Potting is protection. But in the right hands, it's precision. If you're designing for aerospace, medical, or extreme industrial use and durability isn't negotiable, let's talk about the material that decides whether your electronics survive.

🌍Can hydrocarbon fuels power a cleaner future? They’re cheap, easy to store, and transportable, but their use in fuel cells is often limited by carbon buildup and incomplete reforming. A new study takes on this challenge using a Ni–Fe–CeO₂ catalyst inside tubular solid oxide fuel cells (T-SOFCs) under low-concentration ethanol–CO₂ fuel. The result? ⚡ Higher power densities (up to 614 mW·cm²) ⚡ Strong carbon tolerance under ethanol–CO₂ fuel ⚡ Stable long-term operation without degradation By creating a unique NiFe–CeO₂ heterostructure, researchers improved water molecule adsorption and boosted catalytic activity, enhancing catalytic efficiency and inhibiting carbon deposition. This research paves the way for next-gen clean energy technologies powered by direct hydrocarbons: https://lnkd.in/gYjs2kub #SciOpen #CleanEnergy #FuelCells #EnergyInnovation #Catalysis #Research #TUP #EnergyTransition Tsinghua University

⚛️🤝 Kairos Power and DOE Deepen Partnership on Advanced Reactor Design 🏭📊 Kairos Power and the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE)’s Oak Ridge National Laboratory have launched a $27 million collaboration to accelerate development of fluoride salt–cooled high-temperature reactors. The partnership will focus on fuel testing, materials research, advanced manufacturing, and component validation for next-generation reactor deployment. 🔎 Why it matters: Advanced reactors rely on novel fuels and materials that must perform under extreme heat and radiation. Partnerships like this, similar to work underway with developers such as TerraPower and other DOE-backed projects, help validate designs faster, reduce technical risk, and move demonstration reactors toward commercial operation. 📢 The bigger picture: As electricity demand rises from AI infrastructure and industrial electrification, collaboration between national labs and reactor developers is becoming essential. Combining government expertise, advanced manufacturing, and private innovation can shorten development timelines and accelerate the rollout of safer, more efficient nuclear technologies. #AdvancedNuclear #SMR #EnergySecurity #CleanEnergy #NuclearInnovation #DOE #NextGenEnergy https://lnkd.in/eJKidYay
