Matt Marsh liked thisMatt Marsh liked thisThree years ago, our family put our lives on hold to serve a mission for our church in Brazil. At the time, I was CEO of the company I founded, Cotopaxi. Leaving that role was one of the hardest things I’ve done, but I never doubted it was the right decision. Now our mission has come to an end. If I had to summarize the most important lessons, they would be these: 1. Joy comes from serving others. Money, status, and power don’t create lasting fulfillment. Ironically, the pursuit of happiness directly rarely works. Serving others is the way. 2. Less consumerism leads to a richer life. For three years, material possessions and social media played a much smaller role in my daily life. I found that most of the things competing for our attention contribute very little to our happiness. 3. Authenticity matters more than ever. When we left, AI was not part of our lives. Today it is everywhere. However, AI can’t replace genuine human connection. I hear a familiar artificial voice in posts, comments, and speeches, and I find myself drawn instead to people who speak from the heart. 4. Family and friendships are life’s greatest treasures. We’ve missed our family and friends tremendously. In the end, people are what matter most. 5. Faith grows through sacrifice. I owe God everything. Many of life’s greatest blessings come after we are willing to give something up. We gave up things to serve in Brazil, but what we gained in return was far greater. These three years were among the most meaningful of our lives. I’m a little sad it’s over, but also excited about what’s next!

Matt Marsh liked thisMatt Marsh liked thisVC Fund of Funds Market Map: The Macro Landscape Over 50% of emerging managers I've been talking with recently are actively fundraising, all chasing the same catalyst: a strong institutional anchor. In today’s barbelled market, Funds of Funds (FoFs) remain the primary players handling the access and diligence others won't. To understand where this capital is heading, Sharan Jhangiani and I manually mapped 132 active Funds of Funds backing global VC managers to unpack how their mandates and LP networks really work. In Part 1 of our global research, we covered: 🔹 4 main archetypes (who they are) 🔹 Geographic concentration (where the money is) 🔹 Evolution waves (when and why they emerged) 🔹 The Meta-LPs (who is backing the FoFs) Key takeaways: ◾️ The market is smaller than it looks. There are 132 active FoFs, but for a real emerging manager, the addressable market is roughly 33 funds – just 25% of the total. ◾️ 76% of all EM-focused FoFs are American. Furthermore, 58% of the entire 132 FoF pool is based in the US. For a non-US manager, this is the first and most brutal hurdle, even if a fund’s mandate formally covers other markets on paper. ◾️ China ranks second by FoF count, but it is an unaddressable market for Western GPs. Out of 22 funds, 12 are government-led and only 2 are EM-focused. Political mandates and strict geographic boundaries make this ecosystem closed by definition. ◾️ European breakouts will trigger the flywheel. ElevenLabs birthed Baobab Ventures. Credo Ventures closed an €86M fund on the back of that exit. This is precisely how the European market will evolve. ◾️ AI is a structural catalyst. AI captured 88.8% of all VC deal value in Q1 2026. If this technology cycle spans 20 to 30 years, the market is only beginning to fragment – and this is where EM-focused FoFs hold a structural advantage. 🔗 If you want to dive deeper, check out the full breakdown on Substack: https://lnkd.in/dNATvkFd And follow Murph Capital for more curated insights for emerging VCs and LPs.

The surprising part: The price of EVs are still coming down. A wave of 2022-2023 off-lease EVs, particularly vehicles under $35K, is adding meaningful supply to the market and making used EVs much more affordable for consumers. Matt Marsh liked thisMatt Marsh liked thisThe most common questions I get today are "Is AI going to take my job?" and "How do I help my kid survive and thrive the AI-era?". Many anxious college students and their parents trying to figure this out... I pulled together some thoughts on this important topic and broke down the leading and lagging labor market indicators that will tell us whether entry-level jobs are disappearing and whether AI is subsuming those jobs. Other questions I answer in this piece... - Will we even need to work or have jobs in the future? - How have past major labor market disruptions impacted job openings, unemployment rate, and total number of jobs? - Are entry-level jobs actually disappearing? - Which jobs are at risk and which jobs are safer from AI-disruption? - What should you study and / or what skills do you need to develop to survive and thrive in this AI-era? - Where are universities in their journey to evolve and adapt their pedagogy and curriculum in this AI-era? Matt Marsh liked thisMatt Marsh liked thisOur annual kickoff is always a highlight for me — a great chance to align around how we’re bringing Workforce AI to life for HR teams, so customers can make better people decisions in the moments that matter. This year, we brought 150 teammates together in Coronado for our SKO, and we also hosted our CKO via livestream so everyone could take part. The theme, “Drive to Win,” came through in every conversation: from hearing directly from our customers, to having key partners in the room, to the inspiring messages from Olympians that reminded us what focus and execution really look like. One highlight for me this year was recognizing our 2026 Partner of the Year winners: Deloitte (Global), nCloud Integrators (Americas), and NIIT (EMEA). What I value most about these teams is how they help clients change how decisions get made, embedding data into workforce strategy and making results measurable. Thank you to the Visier Inc. team, our customers, and our partners for joining us in person and virtually. We’re in this together, energized, aligned, and ready for what’s ahead.

Why FUNDES Group Exists: Closing Gaps for Small Businesses and Impact Ventures in the underserved markets (...but high-potential markets) Last week in Washington D.C., sitting with catalytic capital leaders, social investors, and ecosystem builders, including Alicia DeLia (Buen Vivir Capital Institute), Elizabeth Garlow, Felipe Witchger, Charles Higgenbotham, Abigail Napsuciale Heredia (she/her), Devin Chesney one insight kept coming back: Inequality in underserved markets isn’t a technical challenge. It’s a systemic one. And systemic challenges require institutions built for systems, not only projects. For some time 😜, FUNDES Group has been exactly that: a platform dedicated to reducing inequality by strengthening the economic engine that has sustained Latin America for decades, micro and small businesses and impact-entrepreneurs. Because in our region: 🔹 They create most of the jobs. 🔹 Yet they remain underserved by finance, data, technology, and fair value chains. This is the core problem we exist to solve. Our solution: A dual engine that combines 1️⃣ FUNDES Impact Consulting, scaling what works: integrating small businesses into markets, value chains, tech ecosystems, and sustainable business models. 2️⃣ Fundamental Venture Studio, building what doesn’t yet exist: new enterprises designed to address structural gaps the market frequently ignores. We also discussed integrated capital, an idea FUNDES Group has been practicing for decades: grants → advisory → venture building → blended finance → impact measurement → systemic adoption. And we know it works, because small businesses don’t need a miracle. They need an ecosystem. 👉 I’m grateful to every partner helping us make that vision real.

One of the quiet mistakes we keep making is treating capital structure as a footnote rather than a design choice. In infrastructure the stack is the strategy. It determines who bears risk how fast assets get built and whether projects survive their first real stress test. When equity is asked to do the job of debt and policy is asked to do the job of structure we should not be surprised by stalled projects and rising costs. Getting the stack right is not about optimization at the margins. It is about aligning time horizons capital and physical reality from day one.

What does the "new era" of private equity look like? This week at PEI NEXUS, Bain & Company's Chairman of Global Private Equity Practice Hugh MacArthur recapped the firm's latest Global Private Equity Report. Hugh noted that firms will need to focus on what they do well in a “new era” for private equity. These sentiments echoed much of what Private Wealth Forum speakers, including Arax Investment Partners Founder and CEO Haig Ariyan, Laird Norton Wetherby CIO Ron Albahary, CFA, Ardian Managing Director, US Private Wealth Solutions Ava Mallin, and Citi Wealth Head of Private Equity and Real Estate Jeffrey Locke, shared on stage at PEI. This week's AGM Alts Weekly dives into what a "new era" in private equity might look like, connecting dots and data points from Bain & Company and McKinsey & Company's 2026 reports on the state of the private equity industry. Some key themes defined the takeaways from both reports: ➡️ Returns will not be a dime a dozen: Bain's punchline? "12 is the new 5." ➡️ Megadeals, big questions: 2025 witnessed an increase in global buyout deal value. However, just 13 deals of $10B or more contributed 69% of the growth in 2025, accounting for $274B of the global gain. ➡️ A K-shaped industry: Private equity appears to turning into a K-shaped industry, with “a subset of elite funds [being] on the upswing while everyone else muddles through.” ➡️ No fun in fundraising: McKinsey noted that core, closed-end fundraising has “become more competitive, selective, and time consuming.” ➡️ Continuation nation: There’s been a marked rise in continuation vehicle activity, but only represents less than 10% of exit value. ➡️ Mid-sized deals not so mid: Megadeal activity grabbed the headlines. But deal sizes $1-5B deals grew 29%. Growth in the $1-5B deal size segment could be encouraging for specialist buyout funds. There are some key questions for allocators to grapple with as they think about what private equity might look like in the future. 1️⃣ Do allocators believe public markets will continue to outperform private markets? 2️⃣ Will fundraising bounce back? 3️⃣ Can firms kick value creation into motion? 4️⃣ Are both GPs and LPs ready to handle how investors might look to exit evergreen vehicles? 5️⃣ For LPs, are they finding managers that have an edge? Read on for more👇 This week's Alt Goes Mainstream's AGM Alts Weekly, brought to you by DealsPlus, covers: 🗂️ AGM Index, an index that tracks the leading publicly traded alternative asset managers. 💻 Who is hiring: Senior-level positions from companies Blackstone, KKR, Apollo Global Management, Inc., Ares Management, EQT Group, Blue Owl Capital, Franklin Templeton, Fortress Investment Group, iCapital, Goldman Sachs, Ultimus Fund Solutions, Krilogy, MSCI Inc. 💡Emerging GP Fundraising Insight #8: Rolling Closes Keep You Moving Small funds can't always afford to sit still until the target is hit. Rolling closes let you start deploying earlier, build a track record, and show momentum to prospective LPs. One GP told me that for Fund I ($5M target), he took capital as it came, signed, wired, and got to work. It wasn't perfect, but it kept the lights on and the deals moving. Sometimes the "sign and wire as it comes" approach is the only way to get moving. Takeaway: Momentum is a fundraising asset and rolling closes can help you keep it. Has anyone here used rolling closes as a strategic advantage?
