While our professions do not define our identities, they help shape and refine us. It is a blessing to find work that brings purpose, fulfillment, and meaningful opportunities to stretch and grow. That is exactly what Philanthropies has provided for me, and I am beyond grateful. I firmly believe in our mission. Philanthropy is literally the love of mankind, and we have the privilege of helping people help others. I cherish this circle of giving. This front-row seat to generosity, compassion, and charity in action is humbling and inspiring. One of the greatest blessings of these 24 years has been the people. My colleagues are far more than coworkers. They are trusted, lifelong friends who have encouraged and lifted me throughout my tenure. Likewise, our donors and partners continually amaze me with their goodness and vision. I recently stepped into my sixth role at Philanthropies, and each one has been meaningful and rewarding in its own way. Every opportunity has helped me refine existing strengths, develop new skills, and continue growing both professionally and personally. I also feel a deep love for the institutions we represent: Brigham Young University, Brigham Young University - Idaho, Brigham Young University–Hawaii, Ensign College, and BYU-Pathway Worldwide. Each holds a special place in my heart. Over the years, I've reveled in sharing the different priorities for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Every day here is a gift. That does not mean every day is perfect, of course. But any challenges are far outnumbered by the beautiful, unforgettable moments. Throughout my career, I’ve had the opportunity to help build and scale supply chains across industries. From my time in consulting to advancing sustainable agriculture at Plenty, to supporting the rapid growth of battery and Auto businesses at Tesla and Lucid Motors. Each experience has reinforced the same belief: great products are only possible with resilient, innovative, and collaborative supply chains. I am reminded that not all families receive the same favorable outcome as we did. It is one of the reasons I am so grateful to work in healthcare and for mission-driven companies like AdvancedMD and Health Catalyst. Thank you to all of the clinicians who serve patients like my son so diligently. It is an honor to work tangentially aside our healthcare heroes. A few years ago, we made a bet: that data intelligence wouldn't just support how we build vehicles, it would actually define them. That meant rebuilding from the ground up. We unified vehicle, factory, and enterprise data into a single fabric, consolidated legacy systems into Delta and Unity Catalog, and created a foundation capable of ingesting telemetry from 100,000+ vehicles in the wild. What excites me most isn't what we've done, but what comes next. We built a connected architecture foundation that underpins our transformation from Software-defined to AI-defined. We're architecting for 500–600 petabytes of vehicle data this year. And through Rivian and Volkswagen Group Technologies, we're extending this same data and AI platform to become one of the most consequential software and data platforms in the entire automotive industry. Every vehicle we ship learns, every mile improves our models, every insight compounds. That's the data flywheel that we're building, and it's just getting started. I spent last week in Park City hosting journalists experiencing R2 for the first time, watching their reactions in real time as they discovered what Rivian pulled off: half the price of R1, with a compelling feature set and, in many ways, better technology. Lawrence Ulrich at The Verge put it best: "A muscular electric SUV that's legitimately capable off-road, but whose technology and sheer ingenuity feel a full generation ahead of anything from legacy automakers." R2 is the culmination of many years of vertical integration and a clean-sheet technology stack. It's the best demonstration of our first principles philosophy and our software-defined approach: optimizing the system, reducing hardware complexity, while improving capabilities and performance.
