Juliet helped introduce BJ’s to the state, while Chattanooga is our newest club there. It was fun hearing from both teams and seeing their shared commitment to delivering superior service to our members. Thanks for a great visit, teams! #BJsWholesaleClub

I spent a few recent weeks pushing Claude Cowork hard on what it could do with really complex accounting tasks. I also spent quite a bit of time learning how to generate outputs that I could validate quickly and efficiently after having Claude do data consistency checks on it's own. I corrected a lot, built better checks, and now have a pretty firm grasp on what it takes to use Claude effectively for accounting. I can do reconciliations, build a model for forecasting, build a budget model, and build a cash forecast model. I also know how to create procedures that extend the initial work into future periods, which is where the real time savings will come in. I have not had a lot of success generating presentation documents from the data, way more hallucinations when I ask Claude to create a deck or word document with the same financial data. I think Claude in Excel may provide the answer, or Claude code if I get around to figuring that out. If you are a GL accountant, you will have to learn how to use these tools. Decades of Excel expertise and manual data scrubbing and manipulation for accounting have given me a leg up, I know what the outputs should look like and why validation is so important. I do want to see what the younger professionals come up with, what does an AI jockey look like compared to an Excel jockey? What do you know that I don't?
