Peer Schneider shared thisIGN turns 30 years young today! The site and brand shape-shifted many times in those three decades, from creating an early influencer model via mailbags and moderated forums, to subscription content during the dotcom bust, a video syndication model that is powering a YouTube channel 20 million subs strong, to jumping in early on new social platforms. The internet is never one thing -- it always wants to change. I’m proud to be at IGN because despite whatever shape the web contorts itself into, we work hard to figure out how we fit with whatever it wants to become next. Once discovered through Hotmail footers and Altavista, we're now looking at another era of change; one where copyright laws we took for granted appear to be “more of a suggestion” and search engines are acting more like walled content engines. Today, we celebrate all the great contributions of past and present employees, from editors to producers to engineering and product, sales, marketing, and more. Tomorrow, we tweak our content, our voice, our products and tools, and get back to informing and entertaining, making new fans, and figuring out how to regain trust with lapsed ones.Peer Schneider shared thisToday is the 30th anniversary of IGN! We've been celebrating all year with IGN30, a program of original content, event activations and merch that kicked off in January. Check out IGN's homepage today to catch up on anything you missed, watch a new episode of our Icons series featuring Guillermo del Toro, and play special IGN30 editions of Trivia and Gamescope. Additionally, you’ll notice some upgrades as we have updated our site layout, improved our search function, and added a deeper personalization layer for logged in users. While celebrating three decades of IGN, it was important to us to mark the occasion with a step forward, one that lays the groundwork for the next thirty years. Thank you to everyone who has partnered with, collaborated with and supported IGN since 1996. We couldn’t have done it without you and can’t wait to keep building with you through 2056 and beyond.

Unsupported assertions that licensing would be both difficult and expensive. It’s not at all. Peer Schneider reposted thisPeer Schneider reposted thisThis week we launched Icons, a brand new program as part of IGN30, IGN’s 30th anniversary celebration. The series celebrates the last 30 years of the video game and entertainment industry by speaking with the people responsible for pushing it forward. Episode one features Ken Levine, who is responsible for some of gaming’s most iconic worlds and beloved video games like Thief: The Dark Project, System Shock 2, Bioshock, Bioshock Infinite, and his latest upcoming utopia gone awry - Judas. In the 50 minute interview, he discusses his career, the industry, and the evolution of game design, we hope you enjoy: https://lnkd.in/egDStApm If you would like to enquire about members of your team being a part of Icons, please contact Michael Peyton.Ken Levine on BioShock, Judas, and the Evolution of Game Design | IGN30 Icons - IGNKen Levine on BioShock, Judas, and the Evolution of Game Design | IGN30 Icons - IGN

Peer Schneider shared thisWe helped close out the GDC Festival of Gaming with our panel on how indies can play with IGN Entertainment. We presented advice on initial outreach, continuous pitches, and an overview of how editorial and game help works and how the teams select the games they cover. We got many great questions from the indie devs in attendance — and I’m sure there were many more. We’d love to do something like this again. Props to Justin Davis, Miranda Sanchez, and Ryan McCaffrey for sharing their expertise.

Peer Schneider shared thisIf you're at GDC this week, swing by for our panel on Thursday! I'll be hosting leads from our content teams (you may recognize them from our podcasts, Game Scoop and Unlocked) to answer how indie devs and publishers can get their game covered on IGN. We'll have a Q&A at the end, so AuA.Peer Schneider shared thisWe’re excited to be hosting our first IGN panel at GDC. This Thursday (March 12) at 11:30a, editorial leadership Peer Schneider, Justin Davis, Miranda Sanchez, and Ryan McCaffrey will provide practical, real-world guidance on how to give your game the best chance of gaining coverage by ensuring the pitch stands out. We will walk through how to identify the right contacts, structure an effective pitch, create compelling trailers and assets, and better understand how IGN evaluates and selects games for coverage. Additionally, we’ll explore how early editorial wins can grow into broader visibility across the IGN Entertainment portfolio. You can find more details here: https://lnkd.in/gVU3CAFp We look forward to seeing you there!

Peer Schneider shared thisGreat way to cap a visit to Australia where I met many of the movers and shakers of the Australian games industry! Thanks for the excellent chat, Jens! (I'm glad we grew up playing the exact same games, too!)Peer Schneider shared thisSeason 2 of Game Wise: The IGEA Educates Podcast continues with a very special episode: I am joined by fellow Ball X Pit enjoyer Peer Schneider, Executive Vice President at IGN Entertainment, to unpack insights from IGN’s Gaming Trends Report. The conversation explores how games are increasingly functioning as long-term platforms and cultural spaces, rather than one-off releases, and what that shift means for development, marketing, and audience expectations. Peer and Idiscuss the continued rise of “forever games,” the influence of platforms like Fortnite and Roblox, and how discoverability, community engagement, and live support are reshaping success metrics for studios of all sizes. We also touch on nostalgia, cross-generational audiences, and the growing overlap between games, media, and creator ecosystems, offering useful context for developers thinking about sustainability, IP strategy, and where player attention is heading next. You can listen to the episode here: https://lnkd.in/gCyw82zv The podcast is also available on all major podcast platforms.IGN Gaming Trends - Game Wise: The IGEA Educates PodcastIGN Gaming Trends - Game Wise: The IGEA Educates Podcast

Peer Schneider shared thisHappy Anniversary (Year) to IGN. I joined former parent Imagine in 1997 as the Nintendo editor and was lucky to be part of the team that founded the internet generation IGN Entertainment company two years later. I moved on from editorial a few years ago, but the site's content is in great hands and the team will be rolling out interviews with gaming and entertainment luminaries, new video shows, and more. Check out Justin's article for a snapshot at what's coming as well as my slideshow for a lookback at designs going back all the way to the beginning.Peer Schneider shared thisOn 29 September 2026, IGN will have spent 30 years enriching gaming and entertainment experiences for fans across the world. Curation is king, even at a platform level it seems! Interesting to see this news today. As IFE moves to more branded channels and an ever-expanding supplier base is this the future of IFE and CSPs? It's certainly useful to have a centralized provider that manages the overall experience. Pulling out the top new releases to the home page, managing centralised advertising, consistant branding, images & metadata, bringing in new and regional suppliers, games etc etc. Dare I say some origional and exclsuive content too - lets start with 'Howdy'!
