Pierre Martin shared thisFirst RelFest as Gavel now part of Relativity . Pretty special one. We’re launching Relativity aiR for Drafting, built on Gavel’s powerful technology and now securely connected to millions of matter documents. That changes the ambition. This isn’t just contract review or a chatbot sitting on top of a few files. It’s about producing defensible work product grounded in the actual matter, with enough depth to handle real legal complexity. My team has also been showing more of claiR: letting lawyers converse with huge corpora throughout the lifecycle of a case, from early strategy and discovery to drafting, trial, and soon, on the go. When you can reason across petabytes of legal data, the opportunity is much bigger than chat. It’s turning matter knowledge and intelligence into action, at unprecedented scale. Super proud of this team for absolutely crushing demo after demo, and of how quickly we’ve gone from acquisition to building together with real ambition. If you haven't seen the demo sparkle from Laura Goodfellow you are seriously missing out. And huge credit to Dorna Moini Phil Saunders Chris Brown Elise Tropiano for an inspiring keynote. Great catching up with Elizabeth Grabowski Parikh from Courtroom AI too. Change is in the aiR. #Relativity #RelFest #RelFest2026 #Legal #Technology #Startup #Gavel #BuiltOnGavel

Pierre Martin shared thisGavel (now part of Relativity) is back on the recruiting trail! We are hiring the engineers building the AI surfaces defining the future of law, from advanced to staff engineers. The setup is unusual: - You'll work directly with the founders. - Operate in startup mode. - Build with the speed and ownership of a small, talent-dense team. - We're growing fast and were just acquired this summer. - So we are continuing to build agents for lawyers, but now backed by 80+ petabytes of legal data, and the scale and distribution of Relativity, our parent company. At Gavel, we’re building AI-native products lawyers will actually live in every day: agents, workflows, drafting, research, redlining, and entirely new interfaces for legal work. I just opened these roles on our AI Surfaces team: → Advanced Software Engineer — AI Surfaces https://lnkd.in/gCswdigW → Senior Software Engineer — AI Surfaces https://lnkd.in/gNEanA7Y → Lead Software Engineer — AI Surfaces https://lnkd.in/gDsNaExw If you’re an exceptional engineer who wants startup-level ownership, direct access to the people making strategic bets, and a data + distribution advantage that most AI startups can only dream about, I’d love to hear from you. In person in Seattle, Chicago or full remote. In bonus, a video of our team in our Seattle office last year, which continues to grow :) #BuiltOnGavel #Gavel #Relativity #LegalTech #AI #Seattle #Chicago #Tech #Jobs #Recruiting cc: Dorna Moini

Pierre Martin reposted thisPierre Martin reposted thisSome things just can’t be “unseen.” Early last year, I was shadowing a scientist in the lab of a well-known biotech company. She was in the lab because the FDA had requested some additional assays to be run for their lead clinical program. She was in the lab because she was the ONLY PERSON in the company who could handle this particularly finicky cell line. She had any number of clever little tricks and every time I asked her whether that technique was in the protocol, she’d reply with something like… “oh no, it's not a big thing, I think it just keeps the cells happier.” I couldn’t help thinking to myself: “what if she wasn’t here?” For companies at that stage, a company whose future depended on this lead asset, it was an existential risk. At that time, I was regularly connecting with Renee Wegrzyn, an old friend and colleague who was running ARPA-H. She was running into the same issues at the funder level - time and again incubating incredible scientific breakthroughs but all too often seeing them wither on the vine because they struggled to scale or translate into new contexts. We realized that as an industry, we don’t have a good representation of scientific work. And that bottlenecks EVERYTHING. Automation? Can’t automate what you don’t understand. AI? Hard to interpret data if batch effects are outweighing the scientific signal. M&A or licensing? Expensive to do a deal if you have to spend 12 months just getting the tech to reproduce in your hands… REALLY expensive if your manufacturing process fails to replicate at your CDMO and your drug launch is delayed. Training? Inherently limited by the 1:1 nature of apprenticeship. Today, we’re formally introducing Transfyr. We’re building the infrastructure that is needed to understand how process and context impacts outcomes. We capture tacit knowledge, we understand where variance matters (and just as importantly, where it does not), and we work to make processes more legible, reproducible, and transferable. We're working with the top scientist and the top frontier AI labs. I’m incredibly lucky to be building this with Renee, and with a kickass team that is unapologetically ambitious and pragmatic. We’re grateful to Carl Zimmer and The New York Times for spending so much time with us to capture the "magic" and to understand what we’re building and why it matters... for scientists, and for the world that depends on them. We're fortunate to be backed by General Catalyst, who led our $25 million seed raise, alongside Lux Capital, Breakout Ventures, Factory, MVP Ventures, Underscore VC, SV Angel, Neo, and LH Capital, Inc. & Lyda Hill Philanthropies And we're honored to be advised by some of the very best, including Chris Re (who convinced me to start this company on a long walk in Menlo Park), David Baker, Stephen Quake, D.Phil., Jakob Uszkoreit, Kenneth C. Frazier, and Kevin Weil. More to come. For now: meet Transfyr.

Pierre Martin shared thisThis is exactly the strategy that made Gavel joining Relativity so exciting to Dorna Moini and me: AI-native surfaces, available to every lawyer, powered by the depth and intelligence of Relativity’s data. I’m incredibly excited to lead the ClaiR + Gavel teams as we join forces around that vision across surfaces that lawyers love. I can't wait to see what we can build together with Relativity’s customers around the world. Huge kudos to the entire team for getting this out the door -- this is a huge first step! The opportunity is much bigger than adding AI to legal software. We get to rethink how lawyers everywhere interact with legal data and get high quality work done on the most important matters. let's go!Pierre Martin shared thisToday we're announcing Relativity claiR. #RelativityclaiR gives lawyers conversational command of the full depth of their legal data — grounded, cited, auditable answers from the complete matter record, in plain language, without complexity or a learning curve. Three of the world's leading law firms are the first to put claiR to work through Relativity's Advanced Access program: A&O Shearman, Foley & Lardner LLP, and K&L Gates. "This isn't lawyers learning their way around #RelativityOne. It's a fundamentally new way to get them straight to the answers in their most consequential legal data." — Phil Saunders, CEO, Relativity Full announcement in the comments. #RelativityclaiR #LegalAI #LegalTech #LegalDataIntelligence

Pierre Martin shared thisCongrats to Daso! I can't wait for my kids to try it out.Pierre Martin shared thisDaso has raised a $750k pre seed round from Neo My first job was teaching 3 and 4 year olds to read at Kumon. Since then I've taught English to refugees in Greece, coding to middle schoolers at Juni Learning, and developers how to build with AI at Runpod and JustBuild. Every time, the same lesson: the magic is one on one attention. And almost no parent can afford it for their kid. Now AI makes truly personalized learning possible. So we're rethinking the computer for kids from first principles. Daso is a computer for kids ages 6 to 12 with an AI tutor baked in and real creation tools: drawing, coding, music, film, writing. We replace passive scrolling with active learning. The tutor guides, it never does the work for them. A computer, not a companion. Help us stop the spread of brainrot and protect critical thinking and attention spans! In two weeks, our first Founding Families receive Daso Computers in their homes for a free four week program. We have a few spots left. If your family has kids ages 6 to 12, or you know one that does, apply in the comments

Pierre Martin reacted on thisPierre Martin reacted on thisAnother Pitch Please in the books! This is one of our favorite events at AI House. Five entrepreneurs on stage, pitching their big vision, with a lineup of AI House experts offering candid feedback and Q&A. A great way to get a glimpse at how Seattle founders are innovating — and how investors are thinking about the impact of AI. Here's what we saw this week: — Voice AI that makes check-in calls for rural Medicare patients. — An index of construction specs that pulls product details out of building specification documents and public filings to prioritize sales leads for building-product manufacturers. — Guardrails for AI agents that provide real-time visibility and control over what agents can access and do inside a company. — Proof of human, using physics: A check that flashes light and plays inaudible sound on an ordinary phone to confirm a real person is physically there. — Self-driving inference optimization: Software that tests models, hardware and serving settings to find the fastest, cheapest way to run each AI workload. Thanks to everyone who attended — we always love the networking before and after these events. Thanks to Kyle Lui of Bling Capital, Vikas Kamran of Gradial, and Sri Chandrasekar of AI House for judging. Our next Pitch Please will be later this month — with some Halloween themes in store! AI isn't constrained by capital, it's constrained by power. The solution? Bring power closer to where compute happens. I’m excited to share that one of the companies I’m working with, PowerLattice, has emerged from stealth to do just that, by bringing power directly into the processor package. The company has developed the industry's first power delivery chiplet that combines miniaturized, on-die magnetic inductors with a vertical design and programmable software layer -- all easily integrated into existing SOC product designs. This reduces total compute power needs by more than 50%, effectively doubling performance. Truly a major breakthrough. Congratulations to Peng Zou, Sujith D., Gang Ren and their entire team!

Despite all the big funding rounds and flashy demos in US robotics, K-Scale’s inability to raise more money should worry us. We're at risk of replaying the LLM story all over again in robotics: - Chinese companies are going open-source and collaborating across the value chain (from EV suppliers to downstream integrators) - most western teams are going full-stack proprietary, closed-source, all in-house Guess which robots the next wave of research labs and startups will actually be able to build on when they want to invent new algorithms or tackle unseen real-world use cases?

The recent Waymo testimony making the rounds isn’t really about robotaxis. It’s about the reality gap between AI demos and AI at scale in the real world. In Senate testimony earlier this month, Waymo confirmed that when its autonomous vehicles encounter ambiguous situations, they can request guidance from remote human agents. The vehicles remain in control, but humans are still in the loop. This shouldn’t be read as “AI failure.” It should be read as a reminder of how hard real-world deployment actually is. Every serious AI system that touches safety, money, or operations ends up with: • human fallback layers • escalation paths • edge-case handling • governance and oversight That’s not a bug. That’s operational maturity. The lesson for leaders isn’t “autonomy is fake.” It’s this: scaling AI safely is less about models, and more about systems. Real-world AI = model + data + workflow + humans + policy + monitoring. If you ignore any of those layers, you don’t get innovation. You get incidents. We’re entering the phase of AI where credibility won’t come from benchmarks or demos, but from disciplined deployment: where safety, transparency, and operational design matter as much as algorithms. The companies that understand that will scale. The ones that don’t will stall — or worse. #AILeadership #HumanCenteredAI #EnterpriseAI #AITransformation #AIatScale https://lnkd.in/eVVfiUPP

GMX’s transition to SQD reinforces Rezolve Ai’s acquisition thesis: achieving best-in-class multichain data performance is essential for enabling agentic AI. Switching infrastructure is not a decision made lightly, yet GMX has made this move, and the benefits of SQD are evident: faster data delivery to the app, an improved user interface, and reduced infrastructure costs across chains. This aligns perfectly with our strategy at Rezolve Ai, which focuses on a modern data layer that supports intelligent agents. Kudos to the SQD team and GMX for this successful partnership. When most people hear "solid-state," they think storage. But in Santa Clara, xMEMS Labs just gave that term new resonance, literally. The company just raised $21M in Series D funding led by Boardman Bay Capital Management, with Cloudview Capital, CDIB-TEN Capital, Harbinger Ventures, Susquehanna Asia Venture Capital, and other strategic investors tuning in. This isn't another round of capital, it's an #amplifier for a company turning silicon into a new language of #sound and #cooling for the AI era. Founded in 2018 by Joseph Jiang and Jemm Liang, xMEMS spun out of piezoelectric R&D at TSMC and turned what was once wafer-level theory into commercial hardware. Joseph Jiang, a veteran of Knowles, Fortemedia, and InvenSense, leads with precision and swagger, while Jemm Liang, who built Ultrachip from the ground up, drives the engineering with surgical focus. Co-Founder & CLO Wei-Fu Hsu, the former MediaTek exec and IP expert, ensures xMEMS' innovation is as protected as it is disruptive. Their play? A monolithic MEMS platform that transforms voltage into vibration, silicon into sound. Unlike legacy coil speakers and fans, xMEMS tech doesn't move parts, it moves markets. Over 500K MEMS speakers shipped in 1H'24, backed by >250 global patents. The Cypress & Sycamore lines redefine what "small" can do: 1mm-thin, full-range, and capable of sub-bass response once thought impossible in earbuds. Their XMC-2400 µCooling chip, 1mm-thin, fan-on-a-chip, inaudible, moves 39cc/sec of air at just 30mW. That's not cooling, that's choreography at a molecular level. Dr. Chester Hwang, named CTO on Oct 15, 2025, joins to push that curve further. Alongside veterans Mike Housholder (VP Marketing & Biz Dev), Jim Wargnier (VP N.A. & EU Sales), James Lee (VP & Korea GM), Steven P. Bentley (VP Sales), and Martin Lim (VP MEMS Tech), xMEMS is scaling at semiconductor speed. They're already in BleeqUp's AI sports glasses and teamed with Dongguan Rayking Electronics for TWS modules. When OEMs talk "next-gen," they're talking xMEMS-level integration. For investors like Boardman Bay's Will Graves, this isn't just sound engineering, it's signal intelligence. With AI pushing devices thinner, faster, and hotter, xMEMS' piezoMEMS platform sits at the intersection of #acoustics and #thermals, where every millimeter matters. Backing them is a bet that the next wave of #sensorytech won't just compute, it'll feel alive. So what's next? Scaling production, expanding capacity, and embedding xMEMS' silicon pulse into everything from earbuds to AI #datacenters. In a world chasing speed, silence, and fidelity, xMEMS isn't following the beat, they're building the frequency the future will hum to. #Startups #StartupFunding #VentureCapital #SeriesD #AI #Sound #SoundEngineering #Semiconductors #Data #DataDriven #Technology #Innovation #TechEcosystem #StartupEcosystem #Hiring #TechHiring If software engineering peace of mind is what you crave, Vention is your zen.

Very interesting move by AWS and OpenAI. This partnership will make OpenAI far more accessible for Amazon Web Services (AWS) developers, especially for organizations that need private cloud options. It also heats up the competition with Anthropic Claude, leaving Google's Gemini as the only major model still tied to a single cloud. As for Microsoft, it feels like they had the golden goose of AI and somehow let it fly away. Three years of advantage, and they still missed the chance to lead the field.

AI won’t replace game developers. But devs who use AI will change the industry! My teammates, Bruce Lam 🔜 GDC and Michael Dennedy, had a great time diving into this with Ben Anchor... Unpacking how AI is transforming the game development process. From faster iteration to unlocking new forms of creativity, the potential is massive! But what really resonated? The human-in-the-loop approach. It’s not about replacing developers. It’s about amplifying their creativity with AI as a tool, not a substitute. Big thanks to Ben for the thoughtful conversation and for spotlighting this important shift in the industry! 🙌 If you’re curious about where AI and creativity meet in gaming, this one’s worth a listen! #AIingaming #gamedevelopment #humanintheloop #futureofgaming #gamingindustry

What will be the key themes of Jensen Huang's keynote at NVIDIA's highly-anticipated annual developer conference on Monday?* A clue as to one of the themes is a blog post this week in which he describes AI as a '5 layer cake' and how all 5 layers need to scale together. The 5 layers are: - Energy. The first principle of AI infrastructure and the binding constraint on how much intelligence a system can produce. - Chips. Transforming energy into computation and determining how fast AI can scale and with what efficiency. - Infrastructure. Land, power, cooling, construction and networking. AI 'factories' that 'manufacture' intelligence. - Models. Understanding the information. - Applications. Creating economic value. He notes that: - every layer is critical, - we have only just started the buildout, - it is becoming the latest infrastructure buildout in human history, - a highly skilled workforce is needed but is in short supply, - the last year has seen advancements in capability that are leading to real economic value, and - open source models play a critical role. He concludes: "AI is becoming the foundational infrastructure of the modern world. And the choices we make now, how fast we build, how broadly we participate and how responsibly we deploy it, will shape what this era becomes." To disagree with Jensen Huang on the topic of AI is to stand on very thin ice - so I won't. But I would add a 6th Layer to this model: Layer 0: Supply Chain It may be assumed that there are complex global supply chains behind each of the 5 layers but we should shine a spotlight on them because, like energy, the transformation of raw materials into the millions of components that make up a data center and the infrastructure that they depend on is fundamental to success And, as Serguei Netessine and Masha Shunko explain here (https://lnkd.in/ecxYjMRB) the AI Supply Chain has its own layer cake. *and which jacket will he wear?
