Here's a question: What's one lesson you've learned about getting teams to adopt new tech tools? Recently, I visited with Rachael Nemeth to discuss key learnings I have gained over the years, specifically what it was like to roll out Opus Training to our teams. One big lesson for me has been not to rush buy-in from stakeholders. When we decided to roll out Opus Training to 200+ locations in 60 days, people thought we were moving fast. But the real work happened in the months before—building trust, socializing decisions, and answering the question every operator was asking: "What's in it for me?" Here's what I learned about getting franchise and corporate teams actually engaged: Start by listening. Spend time with tech teams, internal stakeholders, and franchise operators to understand their needs before presenting a plan. Bring a unified recommendation to leadership for a decision — not an open question. Run a real pilot. We didn't just pick our best performers. We included average locations, different markets, corporate and franchise mixed. 60 days gave us the confidence to move forward with data, not assumptions. Flip the model. Instead of flying field teams out to present information, we assigned pre-learning in Opus first. Live sessions became Q&A. Managers became coaches, not lecturers. Knowledge stuck faster. But I can't take credit alone. My team was in the trenches making this happen—and franchise operators made the effort to try something different. The platform matters. But the infrastructure you build around it—the follow-up, the coaching, the consistent momentum—that's what actually drives results.
