Rodrigo Gutierrez shared thisAlmost four months in at Movemint and it's clear we’re onto something special. Proud to be part of this team.Rodrigo Gutierrez shared thisThree big announcements! We raised an inside $2.4M Seed, led by Brian Devaney at Underscore VC with participation from Michael Horvath and Green D Ventures (an Alumni Ventures Fund). Michael, who co-founded Strava, has joined our board. I’m also pleased to share that we’ve tripled our business each quarter since launching early last year. The mission at Movemint is simple: make events more fun for athletes and more profitable for organizers. I think we’ve found early success for a few reasons. We’re solving problems in the athletic event industry we know and love. Internally, we like to say that the team you build is the company you build. And we have the best team! We love connecting people. There’s magic in events because they’re more than the sum of their parts. AI can't replace the experience of the Grasshopper Adventure Series or Vermont Overland. We're relentless in our commitment to provide organizers and athletes with the best product possible. Another thing we say internally is that organizing events is sexy-adjacent. Doing well in events can be sexy, but the hard work that goes into producing world-class events is often overlooked. We take pride in taking care of organizers and athletes. To us this means providing organizers with the best tools and giving them recommendations on how to use them. It also means connecting all the folks who make an event happen, like timers, photographers, and volunteers. And it means ensuring athletes have the training and nutrition they need to be successful on race day. We’re at the start of the journey but we feel like we’re onto something special. We’re going to keep running at this as hard as we can. The picture is from our second annual team offsite at the West Point Inn. Next year we might have to rent the whole place! I wrote more about this news on our blog if you’d like to dig in deeper: https://lnkd.in/gvY3S9JB

Rodrigo Gutierrez shared thisAfter two years of building at Obento Health, I’ve decided to step away and explore new opportunities. Co-founding and leading a startup through pivots, product launches, and all the lessons that come with it has been an incredibly challenging and rewarding experience. From our early days in Y Combinator to shaping an AI-driven copilot for med-tech sales, I’ve grown tremendously in my ability to think strategically, adapt to challenges, and build from the ground up. An Obento moment that will always stick with me: We once decided last-minute to rent a booth at a conference in Austin. We arrived empty-handed, so we ordered snacks and a table from Costco, borrowed a Sharpie, and turned a piece of paper into a “booth sign.” It wasn’t exactly high-budget, but the snacks were a hit, and people remembered us. I also desperately needed a haircut, but there was no time—so I just embraced the “disheveled startup founder” look. Turns out, when you’re handing out free beef jerky at a trade show, no one really cares. That’s what early-stage startups are: messy, unpredictable, and full of lessons you only learn by doing. What’s next: I’m exploring roles in technical leadership, hands-on engineering, or positions that bridge engineering, product, and strategy. I want to apply my experience building great products, scaling teams, and bringing ambitious ideas to life. I’m particularly interested in consumer products, especially those using AI to make everyday life better. I thrive at the intersection of technology, execution, and problem-solving, bringing technical vision and cross-functional teams together to build things people love. Onward! 🚀

Rodrigo Gutierrez shared thisNaxin Wang and I are excited to share the launch of Obento 🍱, a CRM co-pilot for med-tech sales. Obento brings the usability and simplicity of consumer-grade products to healthcare, helping med-tech teams save time and work smarter. This journey wouldn’t have been possible without Y Combinator and Garry Tan (thank you for taking a chance on us). If you know anyone in med-tech who might find Obento useful, I’d love it if you shared this post with them. We’re looking forward to hearing from more people in the field and learning how we can make their day-to-day work easier.Rodrigo Gutierrez shared this🍱 Obento Health (YC S23) just launched their CRM Co-Pilot for Medtech sales. Medtech field sales is still missing out on the full potential of revenue intelligence. Obento is building a mobile-first platform that reps actually love to use. With Obento, medtech commercial teams can: ✅ Save hours on tedious activity tracking. ✅ Capture real-time intelligence for better planning. ✅ Focus on what matters most – growing revenue and serving providers and patients better. Founders Naxin Wang and Rodrigo Gutierrez have 20 years of combined experience and have built products used by millions of people. Naxin was at Verily (fka Google Life Sciences) building products for biopharma and medtech companies, and Rodrigo joined as an early employee and led product engineering at Strava. With Obento, they're saving field reps time from activity tracking and empowering them to create more personalized interactions with their customers. https://lnkd.in/gSq-WkYw

Rodrigo Gutierrez shared thisi'm excited to finally share the work that Naxin Wang and I are doing to improve healthcare provider's bottom line. who would have guessed that hiring Jason Cheng at Strava eight years ago would lead to this. the universe works in mysterious ways.Rodrigo Gutierrez shared thisObento Health (YC S23) is building online storefronts for healthcare providers to easily curate and recommend wellness products to their patients. Healthcare providers can and should play a bigger role in empowering patients by providing access to information about health-related products that align with their treatment goals. Not only is it good for patients, it is also good for business. As an example, retail sales can account for up to 15% of a practice’s overall revenue in dermatology. Obento Health is bringing eCommerce to all specialties to create a convenient patient experience and ancillary revenue for providers, starting with physical therapy practices. They use AI to create custom-branded storefronts and help providers curate trusted products based on evidence. Founded by Naxin Wang and Rodrigo Gutierrez, who have a combined 15 years of experience building in healthcare and consumer wellness, Obento Health takes care of all the backend of running a store so providers can focus on their patients. Welcome to YC, Naxin and Rodrigo — and congrats on the launch!Launch YC: Obento Health - Shopify for healthcare providers | Y CombinatorLaunch YC: Obento Health - Shopify for healthcare providers | Y Combinator

I reviewed the progress (or lack of) in ground robotics since 2001, identifying new directions for the unsolved challenges and the new challenges that have emerged in the meantime. Thank you to everyone who came, asked questions, and stayed for the discussion. If you missed it and want the slides, send me a note.

Rodrigo Gutierrez reacted on thisRodrigo Gutierrez reacted on thisWell, it’s official! Two years after I joined Movemint, we’re opening the doors to our new HQ in San Francisco this October. This one feels especially special because, for the first time, we’ll have a building that’s entirely our own. We’ve been lucky to grow up in a beautiful shared space, but there’s something pretty meaningful about creating a home for Movemint from the ground up. A place to grow our team, gather our community, host events, dream up what’s next, and continue building together. And yes, there will be a party. Keep an eye out for an invite to our official office opening soon 🫶

Rodrigo Gutierrez liked thisRodrigo Gutierrez liked thisBeen heads-down building the last few months - the good kind of busy, the kind where quiet on LinkedIn is a sign of progress. I'm back online and ready to bring some of it out from behind the scenes, starting with one of my favorite lessons from that stretch. I shipped a clinical note scribe feature, watched clinicians actually use it, and then watched trust erode fast: the notes it generated were often wrong, and fixing them meant real hands-on rework for the clinical team, visit after visit. Version one ran on a premise that felt right: more structure, more rigor. Parse the whole visit (history, assessment, plan, vitals) into clean structured fields. It looked great in a demo. But every mismatch between what the AI produced and what the platform expected meant an engineering fix, not a quick edit, so wrong notes stayed wrong for days at a time. That sent me back to the workflows themselves, and the answer that came back was better than what I started with: only a few things actually need hard structure and an audit trail: medications, labs/imaging/orders, referrals, problem list. Everything else, the clinical team wanted as narrative, notes that read like a clinician wrote them. The fix wasn't "structure more carefully." It was "structure only what actually needs it." So the rebuild started there instead of in the AI logic: an admin panel where fields and templates are configurable by the team itself, each one paired with a plain-language description of what to parse for and examples of what good output looks like, plus a way to flag intake questions that should just prefill straight from the form, no AI interpretation needed. The lesson I'm carrying forward: more structured data isn't automatically better clinical product. The right amount of structure is set by what needs proving, not by what's technically possible to parse. Getting that right made the product simpler, and the team happier with it. Next week: what changed once the review flow caught up to that same idea.

Rodrigo Gutierrez reacted on thisRodrigo Gutierrez reacted on thisHi Friends! Armiger is officially in beta! After months of building alongside a small group of early adopters, we're opening the doors. Armiger is now a full campaign hub for tabletop RPGs: a virtual tabletop with battle maps and fog of war, 3D physics dice you can roll anywhere, a rules engine that keeps character sheets in sync, a block-based editor for lore, notes and other handouts, fully customizable GM screens, and real-time party chat. It's local-first, so your work saves on your device and syncs when you're online. Currently we support Dungeons & Dragons 5e (2014), and Pathfinder 2e, with more systems on the way. Huge thanks to everyone who filed bugs, chatted with us on Discord, and shaped what this became. And huger thanks to Kevin Altman, Kevin Romano, and Brenton Mallen for all their incredible work, and putting up with me ❤️ Your first campaign is free: beta.armiger.io

Rodrigo Gutierrez reacted on thisRodrigo Gutierrez reacted on thisWhat happens when you bring together people who care deeply about the same places, communities, and oceans? Last week, I had the honor of helping facilitate portions of the Sanctuary Summit in San Francisco, at the invitation of Maria Brown. The Summit brought together people from across the National Marine Sanctuary community, including agencies, nonprofits, Friends Groups, and other partners, working to protect our oceans and public spaces for future generations. I facilitated sessions focused on: How can we help Friends Groups supporting our National Marine Sanctuaries learn from one another and become a stronger network? We started with “Getting to Know the Friends Groups,” where 11 organizations shared their missions, histories, goals, priorities, capacity, and where they hope to grow over the next five years. The purpose was to make the landscape visible: Who is doing what? Where is each organization in its development? What do they have in common? And where can they help one another? We then explored different partnership models in an “Insight into Friends Groups” panel featuring the National Marine Sanctuary Foundation, Greater Farallones Association, California Marine Sanctuary Foundation, and Friends of Thunder Bay National Marine Sanctuary. From there, we got practical. In “Nuts and Bolts of an ONMS Friends Group,” established Friends Groups shared their experience with newer organizations, from partnership mechanisms and communication with NOAA/ONMS to navigating communication restrictions and engaging sanctuary staff without overwhelming their capacity. Finally, we moved from learning to building something together. In “Establishing a Friends of ONMS Network,” we worked collectively on what a national network could look like, who would own and facilitate it, how groups could share resources and ideas, and how to create a regular cadence for connection. One tangible outcome: the National Marine Sanctuary Foundation agreed to host a shared platform, with the goal of quarterly network calls, shared resources, future discussion topics, and collaborative initiatives. This was the most exciting part of the work. The goal wasn't simply to have a great Summit, but to create the conditions for relationships formed there to continue. The most valuable networks aren't created by putting people in a room once. They're built through trust, shared learning, regular connection, generosity, and a willingness to help one another succeed. That's exactly what I experienced from this group. I was impressed by the expertise in the room, but even more by the authenticity, openness, and curiosity people brought to the conversations. I'm grateful to Maria Brown and everyone who made the Sanctuary Summit possible, and honored to have played a role in helping this community connect, learn from one another, and begin building a lasting network. Here's to turning a gathering into a community, and relationships into collaboration.
