Russ Carlson shared thisDear LinkedIn community, Please know that this note is a shameless request for money. A few weeks ago, I met Yura Fedoryuk, a minister who leads a church in central Ukraine. Although only 36 years old, he’s found himself in the middle of the relief effort in his community of Zolotonosha, distributing basic life necessities to those in his community. He traveled to the U.S. to raise support and that’s how I met him. You may have seen in the news that Russia has shifted its strategy and has taken to bombing the electrical power grid in the country leaving the citizens without light and heat as winter approaches. Last week they had power for 16 hours per day and this week it’s down to 12. I’m trying to raise money to allow Yura to buy generators to distribute in his community. We estimate that we need about $138,000 to purchase everything he’s requested, and we’ve already raised $25,000. Russ Carlson posted thisWe recently met Yura Fedoryuk, a minister from Ukraine who is leading the relief effort for his church family and surrounding community. The church we attend has provided support to him that he is distributing to his community in the form of food baskets and other basic life necessities but now, with winter approaching, the Russians have launched a new component of their military campaign by bombing the civilian electrical infrastructure, so power is only available to people on a sporadic basis and without power, there is no heat. We’d like to see if we can help alleviate this element of their suffering by providing generators to the community. Ultimately, we’ll need money to fund this project but now we need help sourcing these generators and figuring out how to get them from the manufacturer to the point of need considering the constraints the war has put on Ukraine’s transportation system. Please let us know if you, anyone you know, or someone that someone you know knows, has any expertise or contacts that can help us solve this project.
