Sam Ayers shared thisThrowing a brand activation at Coachella is no joke... A few months ago, we asked ourselves a simple question: What if we stopped treating Coachella like a brand activation and started treating it like a reality TV show? That idea became AGUACHELLA. Instead of inviting a random group of influencers to a house and hoping content happened, we built the experience around a friend group the internet already cared about: cast members from Love Island USA Seasons 6 and 7. The relationships were real. The chemistry was real. The drama, friendships, and moments people wanted to follow were already there. Our job was simply to create the setting. So we transformed a house into a retro 70s-inspired AGUACHELLA world, brought together some of the biggest personalities from the Love Island universe, hosted a kickoff pregame party, captured content all weekend long, and created an experience that felt less like a sponsorship and more like a show people wanted to watch. The results exceeded every expectation. We projected 30.1M impressions. We delivered 69.7M impressions, more than 2x our goal. Along the way, we: • Generated 2.8M EMV • Outperformed brands like Starbucks, Neutrogena, and POOSH in total impressions • Created millions of organic views across Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, and influencer channels • Drove significant product curiosity and first-time trial for Agua de Kefir What I'm most proud of isn't the reach. It's that the strategy worked. People don't want to watch brands anymore. They want to watch stories, relationships, personalities, and culture. The brand simply needs to earn a role in that story. AGUACHELLA proved that when talent, product, environment, and culture align, a brand can become part of the conversation without feeling like an advertisement. Huge thank you to the incredible team who brought this idea to life Janice Yun, Noah Cimatu, Carly Pfleger, Jillian K. McCoy, Michael McGinnis, Bridgit Kasperski & Emme Strickland! Already thinking about how we make it even bigger next year. 🌴☀️🥭💧

Sam Ayers shared thisSo proud of this campaign and the continued recognition it’s received throughout awards season! Seeing Agua de Kefir recognized by The Webby Awards & Shorty Awards after the impact this campaign had online makes this one feel so rewarding! 🎉Sam Ayers shared thisWe’re proud to share that our Agua de Kefir x Nicolandria campaign has been recognized by the Shorty Awards with a Bronze Award and Audience Honor, alongside an honor from The Webby Awards. What started as a social first campaign quickly evolved into a major cultural moment, generating more than 40M views, 2M likes, 80K shares, and thousands of comments across platforms. The campaign was recognized across multiple categories, including Multi-Platform Campaign, Multi-Platform Partnership, Food & Beverage, and Best Partnership or Collaboration. Beyond the awards, this recognition reflects the impact of building culturally relevant campaigns that audiences genuinely want to engage with, share, and talk about. We’re incredibly grateful to our amazing social team: Sam Ayers, Noah Cimatu, Marissa Bullock & Bridgit Kasperski, who helped bring this campaign to life and push the brand forward in such a meaningful way. #ShortyAwards #WebbyAwards #SocialMediaMarketing #BrandMarketing #CreativeCampaign #DigitalMarketing #InfluencerMarketing #FoodAndBeverage #CulturalMarketing #SocialStrategy

Sam Ayers shared thisHonored to share that our Agua de Kefir x Nicolandria campaign won four Shorty Awards last night! 🏆 🥉 Bronze Honoree: Multi-Platform Campaign 🏆 Audience Honor: Food & Beverage 🏆 Audience Honor: Multi-Platform Partnership 🏆 Audience Honor: Multi-Platform Campaign This campaign was built around one core idea: don’t interrupt culture, become part of it. Instead of traditional influencer marketing, we embedded Agua de Kefir directly into one of the internet’s most passionate fandoms through Nic and Olandria’s relationship and the Love Island conversation happening in real time. The product became part of the story fans were already emotionally invested in, turning Agua de Kefir from a functional beverage into a cultural symbol tied to community, humor, flirtation, and fandom. The results: ✨ +40% sales growth in two weeks ✨ 50,000+ new followers ✨ 17M+ Views ✨ 1M+ Likes Really proud of this one. Huge thank you to my incredible team Noah Cimatu, Marissa Bullock, Michael McGinnis, Jaclyn Lehrer & Emme Strickland along with our creative partners at Round Two Agency®. And of course, thank you to Nic, Olandria, and the entire Nicolandria community for making this campaign what it became!

Sam Ayers reposted thisSam Ayers reposted thisCoachella isn’t just a moment - it’s a storyline. This year with #AGUACHELLA, Agua de Kefir approached it differently. Instead of a traditional brand trip, we built a cast people already care about. By bringing together familiar faces from Love Island, we tapped into real relationships - history, chemistry, and unfiltered moments that made the content feel natural, not staged. We designed the house as a 70s-inspired world of its own - something worth showing up in, filming in, and sharing. From daily vlogs to livestreams and creator takeovers, the goal was simple: make people feel like they were inside it with us. We’re already seeing the impact, with 3.6M+ views and growing across content from the weekend. And importantly, the product fit. A hydrating, probiotic beverage belongs at a festival weekend - it showed up in a way that made sense. We didn’t want to just be at Coachella. We wanted to create something people kept up with. That’s the difference.

And we have an incredible lineup of conversations happening across the week: MONDAY, OCTOBER 5 🔎 The Creator Advantage in AI Search | 8–11 AM I’ll be joining Eleanor Hooker of Profound to unpack Answer Engine Optimization (AEO), how LLMs are using human recommendation, and the role creators can play in building trust in an AI-powered search world. 📱 Stay Unhinged: The Power of Creating Like Your Friend | 3:30 PM Ben Jeffries joins leaders from Snap Inc. and Tubi, alongside creator Harry Jowsey, to explore why content that feels less polished, and more human, can create deeper relationships and drive action. 📈 Creators as Growth Engines: Where Culture, Discovery & Commerce Converge | 4:50 PM Kellie Matzen takes the stage with leaders from Chili's, Alaska Airlines and The Walt Disney Company to discuss how creators are moving beyond campaign execution to become true engines of culture, discovery, trust and commerce. WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 7 💄 Breaking Norms is the New Beauty Standard | 2:30 PM Amar Braithwaite joins leaders from L'Oréal, amika and SeeMe Index for a conversation about what meaningful inclusion looks like in beauty today — and how brands can better reflect the culture and communities around them. THURSDAY, OCTOBER 8 🤝 The Power of the Plus One | 11:30 AM Ben Jeffries is back on stage with leaders from American Express, Samsung, Maryland and USA Today Co to unpack the power of collaboration — and what separates a truly meaningful brand partnership from one that simply feels transactional. And beyond the stage, I’m also incredibly proud to be joining the judging panel for Advertising Week’s Future is Female Awards, celebrating the women who are shaping the future of our industry. It’s an honor to play a small part in recognizing such an impressive group of leaders. TY Ruth Mortimer for the opportunity! Six sessions. Four days. A lot to talk about. I’m particularly excited to kick things off Monday morning with Eleanor and dig into a topic I believe is going to become increasingly important for brands: what happens to creator marketing when AI becomes the front door to discovery? Sam Ayers liked thisSam Ayers liked thisI've spent a lot of time standing in front of the "functional beverage" fridge at grocery stores watching people shop it. My observation: though functional beverages by definition come with some sort of health claim (e.g., better hydration, healthier gut, more protein!) in many cases, consumers aren't holding them to rigorous functional standards. I call these "Fun Little Drinks" (or, FLDs for short). With FLDs, the functional benefit acts like a permission slip. People drink Poppi because it's a fun little drink that's tasty and feels like a treat. They feel good about drinking it because it is "good for your gut" / probiotic. These more recreational products aren't held to high performance standards like some of their category peers. It's less about *feeling good* and more about feeling good *about* the choice to drink them (and, often, many of them). I see value on both ends of this spectrum. FLDs come with high velocity and large TAMs. Hyper-functional beverages come with strong LTVs and can often command a premium price point. The question for any brand entering this category: which end are you building for? PS — Rick told me this graphic was too complex for LinkedIn, but I believe in all of you! Let's prove him wrong!

Sam Ayers liked thisSam Ayers liked thisLast week, we brought the Recess team together in Denver for our first-ever company summit. Meet some of the friendly faces behind the brand 👋 Building a beverage company is hard. Making beverage history is even harder. It takes an incredibly talented group of people who believe in what we’re building and show up every day to make it happen. A few years from now, we’ll look back at these photos and realize just how early we were, and just how far we’ve come. We’re incredibly proud of this team, what we’re building together, and everything still ahead. We’re just getting started. 💙

Sam Ayers reacted on thisSam Ayers reacted on thisLast week marked the end of my Finance Internship GT's Living Foods. I wanted to take a moment to reflect on all that I learned throughout this eight-week program, and how valuable it has been for my growth. Not just as a student, but as a young professional. I initially stepped into this internship expecting to work exclusively with the FP&A team. However, I was gladly proven wrong, as I got to work cross-functionally with the Operations, Accounting, Demand planning, Trade, and many other teams. I got to see firsthand how these teams collaborate and work together toward the company's mission and goals. A few highlights from my internship would have to be: • Creating a master calendar using Excel containing 20+ key dates and deadlines for both the Accounting and Finance teams, improving organization and visibility across departments. • Delivering and presenting financial standings to department leaders, giving them insights into where they stood in the month. • Mapping the AP, AR, and customer service processes to better understand day-to-day operations and identify opportunities for improvement. • Shadowing and participating in the month-end close, and gaining a better understanding of why audits, controls, and documentation matter. • Gaining hands-on exposure to budgeting and forecasting. • Utilizing Excel to analyze and organize large set of financial data, identifying and flagging variances along the way. • Working with tools such as Power BI to analyze and present data. • Gaining exposure to revenue, profitability, and the financial drivers behind a business. • Delivering my final capstone presentation to the entire Finance Team and select members of the Executive Team. Thank you again GT's Living Foods for this amazing opportunity and experience. Also a huge thank you to the Finance Team, Ryan Bird, Erica F., and Janette Mojica, for all of your help and guidance throughout these eight weeks. I am also happy to announce that the journey does not end here. I will be returning as a part-time employee, and continuing to work and grow with the Finance team. I am very excited for this next chapter and looking forward to all that it holds! #Finance #Internship #FPandA #CareerGrowth #CSULB

Sam Ayers reacted on thisSam Ayers reacted on thisNot to fish for compliments but... It's here. 🎣 😍 Today, the sweetgreen x Fishwife Tuna Niçoise hits menus nationwide. After weeks of pier shots, giant tins, and a comments section that practically begged for this day to come; it feels so good to finally let people taste the thing we've been teasing for days. It's Fishwife's first-ever appearance on the sweetgreen menu, and we wanted the whole thing (teasers, tin, social, everything!) to feel like two brands that genuinely belong together. None of the above works without people who care way too much about details nobody else notices. Huge congrats and thank you to Claire McKibben, Lauren Murphy,Halle Gold, Caroline Cogliani, and A Timeless Day for making this whole rollout as fun to watch as it was to build. Available nationwide through August 24 while supplies last. Go get your bowl + tin, before it swims away. 💚🐟 #sweetgreen #fishwife #brandcollab

Sold out online in eight hours. Now landing Target and Kroger in the same month. Protein Pints just demonstrated the only launch sequence that matters in frozen - proof of velocity before you ask for the door. The brand dropped Protein Pops in June as their first line extension beyond pints. Ten grams of protein per bar, quinoa-studded chocolate coating, four flavors. Initial online inventory moved in less than eight hours and beat projections by 10X. They spent the summer building momentum at Sprouts. Now they are rolling into Target this week and all Kroger divisions September 13. That puts them in 4,000 retail doors by mid-month. Most frozen brands pitch retailers with a deck full of category trend charts and Instagram engagement metrics. Protein Pints walked in with a sellout story and Sprouts velocity data. That is the difference between begging for a test and getting asked how many doors you can service. The format matters more than people realize. Pints require commitment - you are bringing home a 30g protein container and clearing freezer space for it. Bars are impulse. Grab one on the way out. Toss it in your gym bag. Eat it standing in the kitchen at 9pm without opening a drawer for a spoon. Protein Pints already proved the brand works at pint volume. Now they are proving it works as a snackable single-serve format that opens entirely new occasions - post-workout, between meetings, after dinner when you just want something cold and sweet without wrecking macros. The expansion is not about adding SKUs. It is about owning more moments in the freezer aisle where consumers are making the same decision - do I want the thing that tastes good or the thing that fits my goals. Protein Pops removes the tradeoff. David Protein ran the same play in July - sold out online in 30 minutes, then rolled into Target with proof that the demand was real before the brand existed on a shelf. The pattern is not a coincidence. Functional frozen is the only category where you can validate consumer pull at small scale, then convert that proof into national distribution in the same year. Retailers are not gambling on protein ice cream anymore. They are watching which brands move fastest and giving them more doors. Protein Pints just showed them the data. There’s a stage in CPG growth that doesn’t get talked about enough. You’re no longer small, but you’re not big enough to have everything figured out. You have sales, customers, a growing catalog, maybe even a team. But every new decision still feels expensive, hire, launch another SKU, increase inventory, enter another marketplace, or spend more on ads. At this stage, the challenge isn’t a lack of ideas. It’s knowing which idea deserves your next dollar. Growth isn’t always about doing more. Sometimes it’s about making fewer expensive guesses. #CPG #CPGBrands #BrandGrowth #Ecommerce #MarketplaceGrowth #CPGFounders

Your competition is putting their OND budget into retail media and hoping the digital ad converts at shelf. You can take the floor instead. Freixenet attached a free Lindt Lindor on-pack to their Cordon Negro Cava and turned every bottle into a gift. No display required. No endcap negotiation. Just a bottle necker that slides on and makes the buying decision obvious. This is how independent brands compete during the biggest selling season of the year. Not by matching the big brand spend, but by removing every barrier between the shopper and the purchase. The category buyer sees a program that sells itself. The shopper sees a gift that's already done. And your sales team sees a format they can execute in seconds, across every location you're listed in. Quick note for brands running programs across state lines: GWP rules vary by market. Map it before you ship it. Big brands play it safe. You shouldn't have to.
