As part of the acquisition, Credo will absorb Follain’s online retail business and storefront in Beacon Hill, which will serve as Credo's second store in the Boston market. Last week, I had the privilege of sharing the Wellness by Ulta Beauty story at the BeautyMatter FUTURE50 conference, alongside incredible leaders Shizu Okusa, Lorne Lucree, MBA, and Charlotte Cruze — founders behind brands I deeply admire. Thank you to Kelly Kovack, John Cafarelli, and Cristina Montemayor for the opportunity and a fantastic conversation. This week, I attended The Economic Club of Chicago luncheon featuring Ulta Beauty’s Kecia Steelman. Her journey and leadership left the room inspired—and served as a powerful reminder of how fortunate I am to be part of this team and learn from her everyday. I also spent time in our Columbus, OH Wellness boutique with Lauren Brindley, where our store team continues to bring Wellness to life for our guests in a way only Ulta Beauty can. Moments like these reinforce the scale of the opportunity ahead—and how energizing it is to partner and learn with such strong leaders to bring it to life.

It was an incredible experience speaking at Harvard Business School last week alongside a group of visionary founders who are truly redefining the industry. Our discussion moved beyond surface-level trends to tackle the structural shifts facing beauty today: from the breakdown of the traditional DTC playbook and the move toward healthy, omnichannel channel mixes to the discipline required to scale with a retail giant like Target. We also dove deep into the tension between rapid innovation and consumer trust. While the many of the big strategics are betting on AI and biotech, I believe the real opportunity for indie brands lies in translating complex innovation into simple, effective solutions that solve real problems for consumers - everyday. Our consensus was clear: the brands that last are those that prioritize long-term value and earned trust over chasing every cultural trend. Sharing the stage with Estée Lalonde (founder of MIRROR WATER), Rooshy Roy (founder of AAVRANI (acquired), Jade Beguelin and Sabrina Sadeghian (founders of 4AM) was a masterclass in how passion meets strategic purpose. What started in my Brooklyn apartment in 2020—with my Amex and a bold mission—was always meant to build connection through culture. This milestone is not just about capital. It’s about conviction. Conviction that a modern Mexican beauty brand deserves to exist at the highest level. Conviction that Latina-founded brands rooted in heritage deserve to be on shelves everywhere—and enjoyed by all. Morgan Stanley’s partnership marks an exciting new chapter as we scale our vision: expanding our fragrance-forward body care, entering new markets, and continuing to redefine what premium heritage-inspired brands look like. The round was supported by L'ATTITUDE VENTURES, Sixty8 Capital, Siddhi Capital, Portfolia, Wealthing VC Club, Alamo Angels, Juniper Growth, and The Black and Latino Angel Fund, along with private investors. I would be remiss if I did not acknowledge this: Less than 0.1% of VC funding goes to Black + Latina women combined. The amount of Latinas that have raised a $4M Series A and above is so small there isn't even data on record. It is likely in the dozens. We have defied the odds. Humble Growth has entered into a definitive agreement to exit our investment in SALT & STONE, and I have been sitting with that for a few days before writing this. A big part of my job is evaluating founders - trying to understand not just what someone has built, but who they are and why they are building it. Nima Jalali was one of those rare cases where the answer was obvious from the start. The product was exceptional. The brand had real conviction behind it. And Nima brought a standard of care to every decision that you cannot manufacture. That standard ran throughout the entire organization. Meagan Rosson built a best-in-class operation around that founding vision - the kind of leadership that turns a great brand into a great business. Watching the two of them work together has been one of the more impressive things I have seen in this industry. Getting to support that over the years, in whatever way I could, has been genuinely meaningful to me. Not every investment feels personal. This one did. We did it with roughly 25% of the distribution footprint of the brands sitting above us. How about that! Let that land for a second. While the big conglomerate brands have national programming, prime shelf placement, and full sales teams working every account, we've been outperforming the room with one hand tied behind our back. And the data tells the story clearly for anyone paying attention: → Consumers find us and choose us without being on a feature display. → We bring incremental dollars. New money, not cannibalized spend. → We deliver category leading margins. → We're the only independent brand in the top 4. No conglomerate. No legacy infrastructure. Minimal distributor support. Here's the part that separates La Fête at the category level and this is what really matters. No pink. No flowers. No chasing the same consumer everyone else is chasing! La Fête recruits new drinkers into premium French rosé...men, people of color, younger consumers who've never felt like that category was built for them. We don't replicate the leader. We expand the whole pie. That's not a pitch. That's Fact! Now imagine us at 50% of our competitors' footprint. 75% or Parity. The demand is already proven. The consumer is already there. The only thing still catching up is the shelf space. I'm specifically looking to connect with buyers and category managers overseeing rosé in New York, California, Florida, Texas, & Colorado. These are the markets where La Fête is already pulling above its weight, and where the opportunity gap between our velocity and our distribution is most visible. It’s a signal: the market has moved from projection-as-status to control-as-status. (👏 Unilever) In 2015 (my HSN era), the default was: more scent = more impact. In 2026, the default is: I don't need to know you were in the elevator before me 😅 What’s changed culturally over the last 10 years: 🌿 Wellness + sensitivity went mainstream (people are vocal about triggers and “no fragrance zones”). 🖤 Taste shifted from loud to curated (“quiet luxury” applies to scent too). 🧠 Fragrance got educated (notes, drydown, longevity > sheer strength). What Lucent is seeing behind the scenes: brands that get ahead stop treating fragrance as “pick a scent” and start treating it as a system: 📈 longevity without loudness 🧪 format stability 🔧 actuator/valve choice + droplet size Takeaway for anyone building fragrance-forward hair, body, home, wellness: The next era isn’t loud fragrance, its thoughtful formulation, radical transparency and smarter delivery. Link to website and to donate below 💫 ❤️ Every two years, our family gathers with an extraordinary community of friends, supporters, and physicians to honor the life of our son, Gunnar. For those that don't know, our son Gunnar passed away at 5 months old from a complex congenital heart disease. ❤️ Last month, we hosted our second Heart Ball in support of The Gunnar Frederick Woelfel Fund. What began as a deeply personal effort to turn unimaginable loss into purpose has grown into a powerful community committed to improving outcomes for children born with congenital heart disease. ❤️ Because of this incredible group of supporters, this year’s event raised more than $900,000 to support research, innovation, and care for children facing complex congenital heart disease. We are profoundly grateful to everyone who attended, supported, and stood beside our family in this mission. ❤️ Congenital heart disease is the most common birth defect, yet research funding remains disproportionately limited. Through this fund, we hope to accelerate breakthroughs, support the physicians and researchers leading this work, and ultimately improve survival and quality of life for children and families facing these diagnoses. ❤️ Gunnar’s life continues to inspire us every day.
