Bobby Shaw shared thisLet's be honest FAT Brands wasn't a great name for the company and of course that was not their biggest problem. Hopefully OHG can figure things out. https://lnkd.in/gSha5ibm

Bobby Shaw posted thisThe last two days I have been finalizing job descriptions and offer letters for my first 3 leaders who are about to join Sizzling Hospitality LLC to lead our Pepper Lunch Restaurants in Austin and Houston. There is something magical about building something from the ground up, creating processes, and building systems, all while standing on the shoulders of all of those who have built this incredible 32 year-old global brand. Getting to do what I do and build what we're building is just an amazing feeling! The countdown is on!

Bobby Shaw shared thisThis is in my Audible library and I am excited to listen to it. I think Danny is onto something. Optimism. Intentional, focused, and realistic optimism is how I have scaled culture over the years, and I can't wait to learn more about how to do this even better from Danny.Bobby Shaw shared thisToday, What Could Possibly Go Right? is officially out in the world. Writing this book gave me the chance to look back at nearly four decades of building, leading, taking risks, getting things wrong, and trying again. Some of the most important lessons came from the moments that didn’t go according to plan. Others came from the extraordinary people I’ve had the privilege to work alongside. I wrote this for anyone building something they care deeply about, navigating change, learning when to hold on and when to let go, and trying to create a culture where people feel they belong. More than anything, I hope it encourages you to keep betting on possibility. What Could Possibly Go Right? is available now wherever books are sold. I hope you’ll read it, and I can’t wait to hear what you think. Danny https://lnkd.in/eUeH8HGx

Bobby Shaw shared thisOn this episode of The Cutting Onions Podcast, Myles Gift and I sit down with my longtime friend and former Freebirds colleague, Tim Robinson. I’ve known Tim since 2013, and we worked closely together across Operations and Finance during my time at Freebirds. His career has taken him through restaurant operations, professional sports, finance, supply chain, procurement, and FP&A, and he brings a rare ability to understand both the four walls and the numbers behind the business. In this episode, we talk leadership, culture, career lessons, being present, baseball, and what Tim has learned from a career spent seeing the restaurant business from just about every angle. Today, Tim serves as Director of Procurement and Director of FP&A for Swensons Drive-In Restaurants. I promise, you don't want to miss this episode. Bobby Shaw posted thisUnderstanding how to develop people was an easy lesson for me to learn, because of the great leaders who mentored me. This one was more difficult for me. Fight harder for your people. There have been several times in my career when I was pressured by senior leadership to let someone go. In some cases, it was probably the right decision. In others, I'm not nearly as convinced. In a few cases, it was just plain wrong and so were we as an organization, and so was I as the leader. Sometimes an organization is struggling and changing the person becomes the easiest lever to pull. Results aren't where we want them? Change the leader. Numbers are off? Change the leader. Something feels broken? Change the leader. I've participated in those decisions. And when I look back, there are times I wish I had pushed harder. Asked another question. Challenged the assumption. Given somebody more time. Or simply said: No. I don't think that's the real problem. Leadership isn't just advocating for people when it's convenient. Sometimes leadership means putting your own credibility on the line for someone else. I understand that better today than I did then.

Joe, this is a great article on the pitfalls of franchising. What resonated with me is that of all the levers an organization can pull to fix franchise sales, typically doesn't fix it at all. You need every department working in tandem to vet potential franchisees and ask the hard questions. And as I like to say, just because someone can write a check, doesn't mean they should. Great stuff!

Our Founder and Chairman, Danny Meyer, just released his new book, What Could Possibly Go Right?, a collection of stories, insights, and hard-earned lessons from his journey as a restaurateur and entrepreneur, Plus, a few stories from the early days of Shake Shack. What Could Possibly Go Right? is available now wherever books are sold.

Bobby Shaw reacted on thisBobby Shaw reacted on thisMILESTONES. I love seeing my team having lives outside of work and crossing those thresholds that can be the most important to them. Not everyone needs to get married, or reproduce, or even have a hobby, but little energizes me more than seeing my teammates make these big steps that will define who they are for long after we're punching the same clock. We've seen teammates grow their families this year. Nothing excites me more-- or gives me more hope for the planet-- than seeing the highest quality people make little copies of themselves! Also? It's really humbling to be invited to share in the joy of a wedding. We've had a few on the calendar this year, and watching one of our OGs, Amara Kelikian, take the leap was pure joy. A completely magical evening that they shared with many of us, including Francesca A. Ken Tsang Katie Schroeder Nolan Engels Zach Risinger Ben Skoda and Luisa Castellanos (rumor has it she's up next : )

A day trip to Vegas and back. (And yes there has been a small amount of Pepper Lunch related work ;) #buildingthefuture

Meet David Bloom — https://lnkd.in/gs_Sik8x Franchise earnings claims aren't all created equal. Item 19 in the FDD is where franchisors either show financial performance data — or choose not to.
