Kevin Callaway liked thisKevin Callaway liked thisIt happened again - a candidate reached out to me directly, asking for a Zoom to talk about a job he saw posted. The salary range was public and clear. He sent his resume, and his qualifications matched the requirements.. But the first thing he did on the call was angrily complain about the salary (which he read and brought up on his own) and criticize the employer - without even knowing who the employer was. He’s been out of work for a while, and instead of seeing this as a chance to get back on track, he used the call to vent his frustration about his job loss and his job search. Job searching is tough, but attitude matters. When you ask someone for help - and they help you - you should be thankful and be open to anything they have, especially when you can already visibly see the salary of the role! Sometimes the role you dismiss could be the one that gets you back in the game. The one that lets you start to pay your bills again. The one that lets you start to feel like a human being again. What you made before means absolutely nothing. If you’re making zero now, taking a role with lower pay isn’t moving backwards. If it pays your bills and gets you working again, it’s forward progress. Forward is forward. Forward for your pocket. Forward for your family. Forward for your health. Forward for your mind.
