Thomas Wisniewski shared thisThe Ultimate Retro Ride. (Or the Ultimate Mid-life -crisis-mobile?) but Suuuuuuper Cool either way I am parting with my beloved Dune Buggy (currently in Port Washington NY). If you are interested in buying it, see my no reserve sale here: https://lnkd.in/e53xQEVf It’s lots of fun, but I would really recommend if are a “car guy” (or gal!) and mechanically inclined to get the most out of it. Pass it on to your networks.

Thomas Wisniewski shared thisSoooo true: this is what the founder journey feels like.Thomas Wisniewski shared thisWATCH THIS UNTIL YOU UNDERSTAND THE POINT OF FAILURE Most people see falling as the opposite of progress. This video proves them wrong. An artist climbs a staircase. Falls. Hits a trampoline. Gets launched back up. Climbs again. Falls again. Rises again. Over and over. It looks like failure on repeat. But watch it long enough and you realize something. The fall is not the problem. The fall is the engine. Without the drop there is no bounce. Without the bounce there is no height. Without the height there is no climb worth talking about. This is what most people get wrong about setbacks. They treat them like endings. Like proof that the path was wrong. Like a signal to stop. But the ones who build something real know the truth. Every fall contains energy. The question is whether you absorb the impact or redirect it upward. I have built 50+ startups. Several exits. Several crashes. And I can tell you with absolute certainty that the crashes taught me more than the wins ever did. Not because suffering is noble. But because falling forces you to strip away everything that does not matter and focus on what actually works. The staircase does not care how many times you fell. It only cares whether you are still climbing. Sometimes the fall is what teaches you how to fly. Stop avoiding failure. Start learning how to bounce. ------ This is how we do it... https://lnkd.in/eBXb9v6h hashtag #innovation #venturebuilder #vc All rights and credits are reserved for the respective owner(s). Driven by Gen AI, Upscale is doing what’s long felt impossible at scale: combining creative, media, and measurement into one AI-native platform for DTC growth. Thomas Wisniewski reposted thisThomas Wisniewski reposted thisExcited to drop a sneak peak at our second Between Two Quarters interview -- and this one’s packed with enterprise 📚! Our second guest is Urvashi Tyagi, former CTO of not one but two S&P 500 companies (ADP and Resmed)! She’s spent 20+ years building enterprise software across industries, and she knows exactly how big companies buy. We got into: ➡️ How buying software has shifted post-cloud — and why centralized “investment councils” are now standard ➡️ Why “no trust, no deal” is the new rule for AI vendors ➡️ How startups can unlock budget by proving ROI — it’s not enough to have features, you need to show impact At nvp capital, we’re backing founders building in Vertical AI -- and Urvashi’s insights are a masterclass in the dynamics around how enterprises buy software. Here’s a short clip from our convo — full interview coming soon on our site. #VerticalAI #B2B #EnterpriseAI

First up: Skylar Dorosin on #AI and the future #healthcareThomas Wisniewski reposted thisWhen I was young, I wanted to be a neonatologist—drawn to the mission of helping the tiniest, most vulnerable patients thrive. While I didn’t end up working in healthcare, I feel lucky to support founders who are—tackling the system’s most urgent challenges, from clinical care to provider operations, and building solutions that make care better, faster, and more human. In my latest post for nvp capital, I share why we’re so excited about healthcare as the first industry in our Vertical AI Deep Dive series, Pen and Paper to Processors. Thomas Wisniewski reposted thisThomas Wisniewski reposted this#BlackHistoryMonth is always a powerful time to reflect on the leaders who paved the way and to celebrate the changemakers shaping the future. This year, I was privileged to participate in incredible events that highlighted both—the giants of Black history and the visionaries building what’s next. Three standout moments for me were: 🔹 Bank of America’s spectacular inaugural State of Black Wealth event. Special shoutout to my fellow panelists—Kevin Rattigan, Josh Donovan, MBA, and Ram Akella—for an excellent discussion on access to capital, a critical pillar of any conversation about wealth building! 🔹The Power Network event, where we were welcomed to Carnegie Hall by Robert F. Smith, arguably the most successful Black private equity manager and a true leader in business and philanthropy. As Chair of Carnegie Hall’s Board, he reminded us of the power of access—whether to capital, opportunity, or technology. His key takeaway? Every community must engage with AI, and we should each have our own AI agent to navigate this new era. A profound insight on how innovation and equity must go hand in hand. 🔹A remarkable event at The Jewish Museum, celebrating Trenton Doyle Hancock, a Black artist whose work blends comic book aesthetics and cultural commentary. His art challenges narratives and expands the conversation around identity and history. The intersection of art, storytelling, and heritage was on full display, reinforcing that Black history is woven into every facet of American life. These moments remind me that Black history is not just about looking back—it’s about continuing to build. It’s about ensuring that the next generation of Black leaders, innovators, and creators have the tools, networks, and opportunities to thrive. Grateful for these experiences and the communities driving change. Let’s keep pushing forward. #BlackHistoryMonth #Leadership #AI #Equity #BlackExcellence nvp capital

Every operator thinks they’re “institutional.” But their balance sheet, GP commit, and fund structure say otherwise. Early-stage teams need guarantees. Mid-scale groups need GP co-invest relief. Mature platforms need repeatable LP capital. Until you know where you sit on that continuum, every co-GP conversation is just guessing a guess price, power & leverage. In my recent conversation with David Robertson, CEO of FrontRange Capital we unpack some of the mechanics of GP capital needs and the sources available to help.

From the outside, venture looks like a game of picking “winners”. From the inside, it’s a game of returning the fund. I put together a short overview of the 3 numbers that actually matter for LPs: flop rate, DPI, and why one company must be able to pay back the whole fund.

Most family office principals don’t set out to become the operators of a complex institutional structure. Yet that's often what the role demands. Staffing, governance, vendor oversight, cost management—it compounds quickly. Understanding how to balance what stays in-house with what gets outsourced is foundational work, not a detail to revisit later. This article offers a look at how experienced principals are approaching that question: https://lnkd.in/eXjqWrRe

We sometimes assume AI will remain broadlimited to specific industries or narrow use cases. But when I see products like this being built, I can’t help but ask what actually makes a product resilient as giants like Anthropic keep pushing the frontier forward? I don’t have a perfect answer, but on our side we’re betting heavily on context specifically on connecting multiple systems and workflows that require more than a single prompt to function. Stitching together decisions, data, and actions across tools. AI systems will inevitably accumulate more context over time (like ChatGPT Company Knowledge), but I believe truly complex enterprise workflows will remain out of reach for generic models. That’s our bet! https://lnkd.in/gU6JYhqr

What does the "new era" of private equity look like? This week at PEI NEXUS, Bain & Company's Chairman of Global Private Equity Practice Hugh MacArthur recapped the firm's latest Global Private Equity Report. Hugh noted that firms will need to focus on what they do well in a “new era” for private equity. These sentiments echoed much of what Private Wealth Forum speakers, including Arax Investment Partners Founder and CEO Haig Ariyan, Laird Norton Wetherby CIO Ron Albahary, CFA, Ardian Managing Director, US Private Wealth Solutions Ava Mallin, and Citi Wealth Head of Private Equity and Real Estate Jeffrey Locke, shared on stage at PEI. This week's AGM Alts Weekly dives into what a "new era" in private equity might look like, connecting dots and data points from Bain & Company and McKinsey & Company's 2026 reports on the state of the private equity industry. Some key themes defined the takeaways from both reports: ➡️ Returns will not be a dime a dozen: Bain's punchline? "12 is the new 5." ➡️ Megadeals, big questions: 2025 witnessed an increase in global buyout deal value. However, just 13 deals of $10B or more contributed 69% of the growth in 2025, accounting for $274B of the global gain. ➡️ A K-shaped industry: Private equity appears to turning into a K-shaped industry, with “a subset of elite funds [being] on the upswing while everyone else muddles through.” ➡️ No fun in fundraising: McKinsey noted that core, closed-end fundraising has “become more competitive, selective, and time consuming.” ➡️ Continuation nation: There’s been a marked rise in continuation vehicle activity, but only represents less than 10% of exit value. ➡️ Mid-sized deals not so mid: Megadeal activity grabbed the headlines. But deal sizes $1-5B deals grew 29%. Growth in the $1-5B deal size segment could be encouraging for specialist buyout funds. There are some key questions for allocators to grapple with as they think about what private equity might look like in the future. 1️⃣ Do allocators believe public markets will continue to outperform private markets? 2️⃣ Will fundraising bounce back? 3️⃣ Can firms kick value creation into motion? 4️⃣ Are both GPs and LPs ready to handle how investors might look to exit evergreen vehicles? 5️⃣ For LPs, are they finding managers that have an edge? Read on for more👇 This week's Alt Goes Mainstream's AGM Alts Weekly, brought to you by DealsPlus, covers: 🗂️ AGM Index, an index that tracks the leading publicly traded alternative asset managers. 💻 Who is hiring: Senior-level positions from companies Blackstone, KKR, Apollo Global Management, Inc., Ares Management, EQT Group, Blue Owl Capital, Franklin Templeton, Fortress Investment Group, iCapital, Goldman Sachs, Ultimus Fund Solutions, Krilogy, MSCI Inc. There are plenty of smart people in private equity. But how many are useful? My partner Ryan Milligan would rather be useful to founders than sound smart in front of them. If you know a founder who is selling (or planning to sell) to private equity please share this useful guide to negotiating working capital because many funds out there use it as a way to cut the price. And it’s a complex enough negotiation for first time sellers who are often unprepared.

Institutions don’t fail all at once. They fail when design can’t keep up with change. In Davos this week, I’ll be joining the inaugural gathering of the Institutional Research Network, a new initiative convened by The Digital Economist. The focus is not another set of conversations but the patient work of connecting research, markets, and governance so ideas can take institutional form and hold under real-world pressure. Some initiatives are about visibility. This one is about durability. #Davos2026 #InstitutionalDesign #IRN #TheDigitalEconomist
