A person who has never taken instructions, accepted correction, or worked under someone else's direction can easily confuse leadership with power. They may know how to give orders, but they do not understand the weight those orders place on others. Real leadership begins with humility. You learn patience by being the one who has to wait. You learn respect by being the one expected to listen. You learn responsibility by completing the small tasks before anyone trusts you with the important ones. The strongest leaders remember what it was like to stand at the bottom. They do not demand respect simply because they have authority. They earn it through discipline, fairness, courage, and example. Anyone can enjoy being in command. But the person who first learned discipline, service, and responsibility understands something deeper: leadership is not about having people beneath you. It is about becoming someone worthy of having people follow you.”

It’s the date I met my wife in 1995, and it’s also the date my father passed away in 2023. So it feels especially fitting that this milestone date marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter. I’m thrilled to share that, after evaluating a number of opportunities, I’ve joined Okta to oversee a number GSI Partnerships, World Wide. Over the course of my career, I’ve been fortunate to work with some exceptional companies, leaders, cultures, and people. Those experiences have shaped what I value most: strong leadership, trust, collaboration, accountability, and a culture where people genuinely want to see one another succeed. I’m excited to once again be surrounded by that kind of energy. And I couldn’t think of a more compelling time to join. As always, I walked away with new ideas, fresh perspective, and an even deeper appreciation for the power of TruAudience solutions to help brands better understand and connect with people. 📊 But my biggest takeaway wasn't about technology. It was about leadership. In a world moving at breakneck speed, where we're all learning, unlearning, and relearning almost daily, one truth remains unchanged: People may forget what you accomplished, but they'll never forget how you made them feel. 💙 Did you make them feel valued? 🚀 Did you help them build confidence? 🌱 Did you challenge them to grow? 🤝 Did you create a sense of belonging? Tom Deierlein reacted on thisTom Deierlein reacted on thisMy father, Bob Neslund, peacefully passed away on September 22nd in San Antonio at the age of 86. Dad spent more than 50 years in the food retail & marketing industry, holding C-level roles at Jewel Food Stores in Chicago, Acme Foods in Philadelphia, H-E-B, in San Antonio, Davids in Sydney, and Dairy Farm in Hong Kong, and later serving as a consultant and industry board member. He earned his MBA at Michigan State University, and much of how I approached my own career I learned from watching him. My Dad always told me that life is what you make of it and there's nothing you can't achieve if you apply yourself. His love and support for others was endless. As proud as he was of his career, he was prouder of his family: my mom, Marlene, whom he met at Lewis University in 1958, his four kids, Scott, Jeffrey Neslund, Heather Colvin, Jon Neslund, and seven grandchildren. She also helped create and update digital weather content for KXAN.com, KXAN apps, and the WX weather diary, gaining hands-on experience across both broadcast and digital platforms. Through this experience, Chloe gained valuable insight into the world of broadcast meteorology and digital media, while developing her communication, content creation, and forecasting skills in a professional newsroom environment.
