We are seeing the same materials, the same palettes, the same references, the same luxury language repeated everywhere. But light has the ability to completely change how a space is experienced. It can make the same material feel warmer, richer, softer, more dramatic, more intimate. It can alter rhythm, mood, movement, and memory. That makes lighting more than a finishing layer and certainly not an afterthought. It becomes part of the identity of a place. Culture gives design context. Lighting gives it emotion. And in a world where so much design is starting to look the same, perhaps light is what makes it feel different. Tzetzy Naydenova shared thisOne of my favorite things about bespoke lighting is that, when it’s done well, you don’t immediately notice the fixture, you feel what it does to the space. At Seneca Trattoria, our work with AvroKO was about translating the design language into light: texture, movement, warmth and detail, all engineered and fabricated specifically for the room. That is where custom lighting becomes more than an object. It becomes part of the architecture, the atmosphere and ultimately the experience. Nineteen floors above San Diego Bay, Seneca Trattoria leans into an old-world, ocean liner kind of glamour: curved brass, deep wood panelling, porthole windows. VISO worked with AvroKO to bring fluted resin and hand-strung tassels into the room's lighting, carrying that same mood through every fixture. 💭 Look for them. They won't see the prototypes. They won't see the hands that finished every surface, or the months spent solving a problem no one else could. They'll just feel held by the room.
