AI investments are growing fast. But how do you know they’re actually creating business value? Many organizations can measure AI activity: How many use cases, pilots or employees are involved. Use an AI handoff ledger before you fund another pilot. Take one live AI-enabled workflow. For every handoff, record four things: 1. The output being passed on. 2. The decision that follows. 3. The person authorised to make it. 4. The evidence they need. When a team cannot fill one of those fields, it has found an operating gap. The model may be working perfectly while context, authority or proof disappears between teams. This is especially useful one level below the executive team: VPs, heads and directors of operations, transformation, strategy and AI can see the friction before it becomes a steering-committee exception.
