Quartermaster Raises $140M from Insight Partners to Grow Maritime Data Network

This title was summarized by AI from the post below.

Big day for Quartermaster! We've raised $140M, led by Insight Partners, to grow our maritime data network for commercial fleets. Incredibly proud of our team, and grateful to the captains, crews and owners who've given us space on their mast. More than 650 vessels in 25 countries and counting. This year showed how much the world depends on knowing what's happening on the ocean, and how little of it anyone can actually see. That's the gap we're here to close. Thank you to Insight Partners, Overmatch Ventures, First Round Capital, QuietCapital, Steel Atlas, TMV, BoxGroup, Operator Partners, and Stifel Bank for backing us.

this idea is so damn brilliant and timely i love to see it! 625 ships on the sea!!

In 28 years with a seagoing service, I spent a decade at sea and the rest supporting the mariners who were. Both taught me the same thing: no one succeeds alone. What gets you home is your crew, and the people standing behind them. Today's $140M Series B for Quartermaster honors an extraordinary, mission-focused team. It belongs just as much to our maritime partners, the fleet owners, captains, and crews who opened their decks to SmartMast before it was obvious. Together, we're lighting up an ocean that has gone unseen throughout history and building a safer, more transparent future at sea. This isn't the finish line. It's the fuel. It's truly an honor and privilege to be a part of this creative and talented team and partnership network.

Just over a month ago I committed to moving across the country to join this incredible team. I went from a team striving to understand the world on a microscopic scale, to a team leading the charge to understand the largest macro-scale knowledge gap we have on our planet: the ocean!

Proud to be part of this team and everything we've built to get here — from an idea to 650+ vessels across 25 countries is no small feat. Excited for the next chapter as we keep closing the visibility gap on what's happening at sea. 🚢

Congratulations, Neil Sobin . 650 vessels in 25 countries proves the ocean's data moment is real. You've closed the above-water gap; the below-water layer is the other half.

650 vessels in 25 countries is impressive, but the visibility gap youre solving is the bigger story. Side note: we make explainers for complex products like this: https://youtu.be/OsLetY4FDNg?si=15YO5xCs-OT-A9On
