AI is hungry for power. Treat compute as a load, not décor. DOE just stood up Speed to Power to fast-track multi-gigawatt generation and transmission so the grid can meet AI demand. Translation: the constraint is shifting from “Can we build the model?” to “Can we serve it without stressing the grid?” You can already see the pattern: Google cut deals with utilities to dial back data-center usage during peak stress, essentially demand response for inference/training.
