At SA Innovation Week (SAIW), our CEO Thabelo Ratshihule, joined a panel on early-stage capital, risk and readiness. One of the points he raised was that the challenge is not only funding, but also the pipeline. A big part of the problem is how fragmented the ecosystem still is. Founders, investors and venture support organisations all have a role to play, but they are not always working closely enough together. When that happens, promising businesses can struggle to move forward, even when the potential is there. He also pointed out that the funding gap does not only affect startups. It affects the organisations that support them too, including incubators and accelerators. If those parts of the ecosystem are under-resourced, the whole system feels it. It was an important reminder that building stronger early-stage ventures in South Africa will take more than capital alone. It will take better coordination, stronger support structures, and a more connected approach to innovation. #SAInnovationWeek #InnovationEcosystem #Entrepreneurship #Commercialisation #SavantFoundry

Setting up a circular business takes time and dedication. Iden Stephano and his team have been able to do just that. The business focuses on mushroom growing and they have products that range from fresh mushrooms, dried mushrooms, mushroom spores, fertilizer and they also train other individuals interested in mushroom growing. We are glad the I4FS program was able to provide clarity to his team as they tackle some of the food security issues in Tanzania
At TheNextHub, we turn ideas into businesses. Iden Stephano, Founder of LED Green Investments, shares how the I4FS Program helped him and his team develop a clear and structured vision for their business. Through the program, they gained practical business skills, validated their ideas and refined their approach to building an effective solution in the agro-industry. From identifying real market problems and defining target customers, to testing assumptions and shaping sustainable business models, every step brought their idea closer to reality. Programs like I4FS go beyond theory. They equip young graduates with the mindset, tools and market-ready capacity needed to transform ideas into viable businesses. #TheNextHub #I4FS #Startup #AgriBusiness #BusinessIdea
