That assumption is that strong sales or profitability automatically translate to financial flexibility. In wine, timing matters more than totals. Cash is committed long before revenue shows up, and inventory absorbs capital quietly over time. Nothing is “wrong” when this happens; it’s structural. But without visibility into timing and the most relevant metrics, even healthy wineries can feel unexpectedly constrained. Clarity doesn’t inhibit growth. It supports it.

🍷This is great overview averages tonnages in McLaren is around 200 tonne per hectare vs 1200 tonnes per hectare in the Riverland - last time I looked we already have wine and grape oversupply . Do is going to step to va accountable for this farce 🦤
Wine quality often starts at the vineyard. In McLaren Vale, average yields sit around 2 tons per hectare — intentionally low, promoting fruit concentration and premium positioning. In contrast, Riverland averages 12+ tons per hectare, driving higher production volumes. This highlights a classic industry tension: quality vs. quantity. Production strategy directly influences product positioning, pricing power, and market perception. Episode 2 explores how yield decisions shape outcomes across the value chain. #WineIndustry #Agribusiness #ProductionStrategy #AustralianWine #MarketPositioning
