I do, however, like meat… And while not usually in stick form, the guys behind Chomps have done a great job creating a better (BFY) meat stick (grass fed AND finished!) that I do enjoy and have become one of the fastest* growing snack brands in the country. They succeed by making several key strategic decisions along the way starting with the most important: creating a great product that fulfilled a real need in the marketplace and people really seem to like them They also made smart, data driven branding decisions from packaging to positioning as well as benefiting from a fortuitous relationship early on with Trader Joes. But what was particularly interesting and impressive to me was how they were able to navigate the financial aspects of growing and scaling their business. They were able to start small via bootstrapping and then when a big opportunity came up, they were able to put together a clever funding deal for friends and family to make it happen. This allowed them to retain full control of the business and not have to deal with outside debt or funding and the demands that come with it. And when it came time to bring in outside investors, they were able to find a true partner in Stride Consumer Partners instead of a typical firm that may have pushed for the typical growth over everything to maximize their ROI. I hope they continue to grow and succeed in delivering a great product and it seems like even more. I see they’ve recently added chicken sticks which I look forward to trying. (When they’re available to purchase at the store, not trying to angle for samples or anything) #ConsumerGoods #BetterForYou #startups #meat

--- ## From Kitchen Experiment to $1.95B Acquisition: Poppi's Masterclass in Disrupting the Beverage Industry For years, venture capitalists have been wary of beverage startups, citing thin margins and brutal distribution as insurmountable hurdles. But what happens when a brand not only challenges this assumption but demolishes it with a multi-billion dollar acquisition? Poppi, the prebiotic soda brand, is a case study in how innovation, strategic marketing, and a deep understanding of consumer trends can redefine an entire category. What started as a kitchen experiment culminated in a staggering $1.95 billion acquisition by PepsiCo, proving that disruption is always possible, even in the most entrenched industries. Here are some key takeaways from Poppi's remarkable journey: * **Challenging VC Dogma:** Poppi’s success directly confronts the long-held skepticism among VCs regarding beverage startups, demonstrating that significant value can be created if the product and strategy are right. * **The Rise of Functional Beverages:** The brand’s growth underscores the massive consumer shift towards "functional" foods and drinks – products that offer health benefits beyond basic nutrition. This trend is a goldmine for astute entrepreneurs. * **From Niche to Mainstream:** Poppi’s evolution from a unique kitchen concoction to a major acquisition highlights the power of scaling a differentiated product that taps into a real market need. * **Savvy Marketing & Brand Building:** The founder's insights on leveraging diverse platforms, from grassroots tactics like Shark Tank to mass-reach strategies like TikTok and Super Bowl ads, were instrumental in building rapid brand awareness and loyalty. Poppi's trajectory is a powerful reminder that conventional wisdom can always be challenged. It prompts us to look beyond established barriers and identify emerging consumer shifts, especially in traditionally difficult markets. What do you think are the biggest lessons for aspiring founders and investors from Poppi's remarkable journey? #Innovation #ConsumerBrands #StartupSuccess #FunctionalBeverages #VentureCapital #Poppi #Disruption #Entrepreneurship #BrandBuilding

Since launching Absurd Snacks, we’ve been focused on building strong distribution across the Mid-Atlantic. That focus paid off in 2025 — we finished the year with 93% growth, driven by doubling down on our existing partners, adding a few new ones, and investing in our supply chain. After two years of feedback from customers and retail partners, we overhauled our recipe and optimized our case packs, while also beginning work with an incredible co-manufacturing partner to help us grow production capacity. With those improvements under our belt, we’ve started exploring sales expansion into the Northeast 🪴 The start of 2026 has already been a lot of fun: • Running our first promotion with Whole Foods Market • Throwing our hat in the ring for some exciting new retail partnerships • Getting accepted to sample at the upcoming Startup CPG Grocery Run with Citarella - The Ultimate Gourmet Market on April 2! We’d love to see you at the Grocery Run event if you’re in NYC — grab your tickets at the link in the comments ⬇️ #startupcpg Absurd Snacks #startups Eli Bank

Why we killed our front-row brand to double down on an underdog. People often ask me how Gourmet Craft Foods’ corporate dining vertical happened so suddenly. The truth is, it wasn't sudden. It is a story that required us to trade our initial plans for market reality. For years, we ran two distinct verticals; an FMCG brand and the Corporate Dining services. To be honest, we started the dining vertical for one reason: cash flow. It was the "underdog" meant to keep the lights on while we chased our retail dreams with the FMCG brand. While we poured our energy into FMCG, the corporate dining side kept growing 2x year on year with almost zero effort. It was the silent engine that kept us afloat, but was also teaching us a critical lesson: It taught us that "Real Food" at the workplace isn't a luxury; it is an essential infrastructure that was fundamentally broken. That the Grade-A corporate world was starving for quality, and the "big players" aren’t enough to fill the gap. A year and a half ago, we made a cold business call. We paused the FMCG brand to focus 100% on the underdog. We realised that being the true ‘last mile’ infrastructure partner for Tech Parks was a much larger, more sustainable opportunity. Today, that underdog is our core engine. We have built a proven track record by becoming an "infrastructure partner" for Grade-A Tech Parks. We have done the hard work of proving the model and stabilising the economics. The foundation is built; and now we are building the engine for scale. Sometimes, the side project isn’t a distraction, it is the future. You just have to be brave enough to pivot. #GrowthStory #FoundersJourney #Pivot #CorporateDining #GourmetCraftFoods #Entrepreneurship #HyderabadStartups #alwayseatwell

ICYMI: Tonica Kombucha founder reflects on two decades of growth from kitchen startup to national brand What began as a small home-brewing experiment in a Toronto bachelor apartment has grown into a national beverage business producing about 1,000 cases a day, according to the founder of Tonica Kombucha. Zoey Shamai, founder and owner of the Ontario-based company, says the kombucha maker is now operating from a 12,000-square-foot production facility in Woodbridge and selling products across Canada through major retailers, after starting the business two decades ago with no intention of building a company. https://lnkd.in/gc9CDV8C #TonicaKombucha #EntrepreneurStory #StartupJourney #CanadianEntrepreneurs #WomenInBusiness #BeverageIndustry #Kombucha #BrandGrowth #RetailExpansion #MadeInCanada #BusinessSuccess #FounderStory #SmallBusinessCanada #CPG #RetailIndustry

A Powerful Lesson from the Growth of ZOFF Foods India’s startup ecosystem often focuses on high-tech ventures, AI platforms, and disruptive apps. Yet sometimes the most compelling business stories emerge from traditional industries executed with modern strategy. One such example is ZOFF Foods. Operating in a category dominated for decades by legacy players like Everest Spices and MDH Spices, ZOFF entered the market with a simple but powerful approach: ✔ Modern processing technology ✔ Consumer-centric packaging ✔ Digital-first distribution strategy Instead of competing purely on price, the company focused on quality, freshness, and convenience. The result? A rapidly growing brand that crossed ₹100+ crore in revenue and attracted investment from Aman Gupta on Shark Tank India, followed by a ₹40 crore Series A investment from JM Financial. The strategic takeaway is straightforward: Markets are rarely “too crowded.” They are simply waiting for better execution, sharper positioning, and disciplined strategy. ZOFF did not invent spices. They reimagined the business model around them. This raises an important reflection for professionals, entrepreneurs, and innovators: Many individuals hold strong business ideas but hesitate to move forward due to perceived competition or uncertainty. However, viability can only be discovered through action, validation, and market testing. Before seeking investors or scaling ambitions, every entrepreneur should ask: • Does my idea solve a real consumer problem? • Is the business model scalable? • Can the product deliver measurable value? If the answer is yes, then the next step is clear—start building, testing, and validating the idea. ZOFF’s journey reminds us that innovation does not always require creating a new industry; sometimes it simply requires executing better within an existing one. Perhaps the next successful startup is already sitting in someone’s notebook, waiting for the courage to test its viability. #Entrepreneurship #StartupIndia #BusinessStrategy #Innovation #D2C #Leadership
