I am proud to share the ILANEL 2025 Capability Statement. Over the past few years, our studio has evolved. While our foundation remains in bespoke, high-touch craftsmanship, our practice is increasingly focused on the intersection of structural permanence and the transformative power of illumination. We call this Form & Phenomenon. In this updated folio, we outline our "Four Pillars" of practice, showcasing how we partner with architects and developers to solve complex spatial challenges across: 🏛️ Institutional & Civic (e.g., National Gallery of Victoria, Australian War Memorial) 🏢 Commercial & Hospitality (e.g., 628 Bourke St, WeWork) 💎 Prestige & Global Luxury (e.g., Four Seasons, The Hour Glass) 🏡 Heritage & Bespoke Private (e.g., Royal Bank Chambers) More than just what we make, this document outlines how we make it - detailing our integrated capabilities in optical engineering, sustainable manufacturing, and site-specific risk management. Swipe through to see selected recent works, or download the full document below. If you are currently navigating the lighting strategy for a large-scale commercial void, a heritage adaptation, or a premium hospitality venue, let’s connect. #LightingDesign #Architecture #CommercialDesign #BespokeLighting #AustralianDesign #ILANEL #FormAndPhenomenon #ArchitecturalLighting

BIOSYS is a Turkey-based medical technology company established in 2012 in Ankara, specializing in the design and manufacturing of advanced critical-care and surgical monitoring systems. As Less Office we Design exhibition spaces as immersive brand experiences, and this stand clearly demonstrates that philosophy through strong form, light, and brand integration. The suspended circular crown establishes a dominant vertical landmark, ensuring visibility from multiple axes within the hall. Architecturally, it defines territory without closing the space, maintaining openness while creating a recognizable identity. The curved rear wall introduces fluidity into the composition, avoiding rigid booth geometry and guiding visitor circulation naturally. The layered lighting strategy ceiling glow, logo illumination, and floor LED lines enhances depth and creates a floating platform effect. Material contrast is handled thoughtfully: warm wood flooring and vertical slats balance the cool blue corporate tone, while the integrated greenery inside the crown softens the industrial exhibition environment. Warm wood textures and integrated greenery balance the dominant blue tone, adding depth and preventing a cold, technical atmosphere. Overall, the design is contemporary, confident, and brand-driven achieving high visual impact without compromising spatial clarity or usability. • • • Biosys #lessexpo #lessoffice #whx2026 #whxdubai2026 #booth #design #boothbuilder #architectural #architecture #interiorarchitecture #eventdesigner #fuar #fuarstand #fair #fairstand #dubaifair #exhibitions #exhibitionstanddesign #exhibitionstand

I've always thought heritage work asks better questions of us. Not just how something should look, but how lightly it can be touched, how reversibly it can be detailed and how it will continue to perform as the life of the building evolves. That balance between character and usability is rarely simple, which is exactly what makes projects like this so interesting.
Heritage projects ask for a light touch, and sustainability often starts with retaining what’s already there. A few shared design questions we regularly explore with clients keen to protect character: - Reversibility: can the intervention be removed later without leaving a trace? - Visual quietness: does it sit back from key features and heritage detailing? - Fixing strategy: where can you fix safely (and where should you avoid altogether)? - Breathability/moisture behaviour: in older walls and ceilings, how will the solution affect airflow and moisture movement? - Future use: if the space shifts function, how will it behave acoustically? - When you’re balancing heritage and usability, what’s typically the toughest constraint to design around? Les Halles, Pau, France: A redesign of spaces in a refurbished historic site Project owner: Pau city Architect: Ameller Dubois Products : Laudescher LINEA 2.6.10 ceiling + LINEA 2.9.10 Species : Pine Finish : Wax Color Oak

Design Without Boundaries | Learning Beyond Limits What truly defines a great designer? According to Sunita Kohli, it begins with curiosity, openness, and a lifelong commitment to learning. During an inspiring session at AAFT, the Industry Dean, School of Interior Design, spoke about drawing inspiration from diverse architectural influences—ranging from Indian heritage elements like jharokha windows to global landmarks such as Rashtrapati Bhavan, the iconic Guggenheim Museum Bilbao, and the extraordinary Kailasa Temple, the world’s largest monolithic structure carved from a single mountain. Her message to aspiring designers was powerful and timeless: • Keep the windows of your mind open • Learn from India first, then the world • Let curiosity and knowledge shape your design thinking At AAFT, we continue to nurture creative minds by connecting education with real-world inspiration and industry wisdom #SunitaKohli #AAFTNoida #InteriorDesign #DesignEducation #IndianArchitecture #CreativeLeadership #Architecture #DesignThinking #FutureDesigners Prof. Jayesh Wadia

Across the UAE, landmark developments are redefining skylines and city identity. At this scale, exterior identity systems are no longer decorative elements — they are part of the architecture. Material durability under extreme climate, façade alignment, illumination consistency, and long-term maintenance planning determine whether brand perception sustains years beyond handover. In a market building at this pace, precision is not aesthetic preference. It is structural responsibility. #LandmarkDevelopment #UAEConstruction #FacadeBranding #BuiltEnvironment #ArchitectureExecution
