The World Food Prize Foundation has honoured Abdul Awal Mintoo, founder of Lal Teer Seed Limited and Lal Teer Livestock Development BD. Limited, with the Top Agri-Food Pioneer (TAP) Award 2025. This prestigious recognition celebrates his profound and lasting impact on agriculture and food security, not only within Bangladesh but also on a global scale. Recognising this critical need, Mintoo, under the umbrella of Multimode Group, established Lal Teer Seed Limited in 1995. This strategic move provided a much-needed boost to food security by ensuring farmers had access to high-quality seeds crucial for improved yields. Beyond seeds, Mintoo’s contributions extend to crucial areas of agricultural development. With master’s degrees in law and agricultural economics from the University of London, he championed crop diversification, particularly by introducing vegetables into traditional rice-based farming systems. #AbdulAwalMintoo #TopAgriFoodPioneerAward2025 #WorldFoodPrizeFoundation #TheCorporateBangladesh

As I continue to advocate for the advancement of African agriculture, recent concerns over the Matlosana Fresh Produce Market operations have caught my attention. The market, which plays a vital role in connecting small-scale farmers to consumers, is facing challenges that threaten its effectiveness. I am compelled to ask: what measures can be put in place to ensure that such markets are run efficiently and sustainably, ultimately benefiting the farmers and communities they serve? By addressing these challenges, we can unlock the full potential of our agricultural sector and create a more resilient food system. Let us work together to empower small-scale farmers and promote agricultural growth in Africa #abutispinach #Agvocate #AgroDiplomacy 🌾🌻👨🌾

This month, we've explored how agriculture transforms everything - from individual families to entire communities. 🌾 We've seen subsistence farmers become successful entrepreneurs, traditional techniques meet modern science, and communities come together to build food security that lasts. But behind every harvest is hope. Behind every improved technique is a family eating better. Behind every farming cooperative is a community growing stronger together. The agricultural transformation in Uganda continues, and there's a place for you in this story of growth and abundance. Ready to help plant seeds of change? https://lnkd.in/gXSN29Nf #AgriculturalTransformation #HarvestingHope #FoodSecurity #Uganda #PlantSeedsOfChange

As we continue to empower small-scale farmers in Africa, it's exciting to see that consumer positivity towards agriculture is on the rise globally. According to a recent report by AHDB, consumer positivity towards British agriculture has hit a new high in 2025, with more people recognizing the importance of sustainable farming practices and the value of locally produced food. This shift in consumer attitude presents a significant opportunity for African farmers to leverage and increase their market share. As an #Agvocate, I believe it's crucial for us to understand the driving forces behind this trend and explore ways to replicate it in our local context. What do you think are the key factors contributing to this surge in consumer positivity, and how can we apply these lessons to boost the African agricultural sector? Let's work together to promote #AgroDiplomacy and support our farmers in producing high-quality, sustainable products that meet the evolving needs of consumers. #abutispinach 🌾💚👏

Why is the most important issue for most farmers, increasing profits, so little mentioned let alone quantified, measured and maximised in agricultural research and policy? This is a major disconnect. Our policy brief draws on our six years of experience working closely with many farmers across Ghana to propose practical solutions. #profitablefarming #mofagh #organicfarming #soilvalue #soilhealth #africanagriculture #smallholderfarmers #agra #afap #gizghana

The World Food Programme (WFP)-sponsored radio program on Good Agronomic Practices (GAPs) officially kicked off this past Sunday, 29th September 2025, on Neesim FM 100.1 MHz. I had the honor of hosting the maiden session, which focused on how WFP, in collaboration with the Department of Agriculture, is supporting farmers in the Nantong District with financial assistance and technical training to improve productivity and resilience. Our guest, Mr. Abdul Rahman Dohbia, Agric Extension Officer at the Nantong District Assembly, shared valuable insights on: • Key areas of collaboration between WFP and the Department of Agriculture • The department’s specific roles in driving the partnership • Successes and lessons from the collaboration so far • Technical interventions shaping farmers’ practices in selected communities • The region’s current weather and rainfall outlook and its impact on agriculture This first discussion highlighted the importance of collaboration in advancing food security and equipping farmers with the knowledge they need to thrive. I look forward to hosting the upcoming sessions and continuing these conversations that put farmers at the center of sustainable solutions. 📈 This week’s most read story on Vutivi! South Africa’s melon and watermelon farmers are facing their toughest season yet 🍉💔. Rising fuel costs, erratic weather and weak market structures are forcing many small growers in Limpopo and the Northern Cape to scale down or shut down completely. Experts warn that without urgent reform, the collapse of the melon market could threaten rural jobs and food security across the country. #Agriculture #SmallFarmers #FoodSecurity #SMMEs #RuralEconomy Read the full story: https://lnkd.in/dJdi8Fw8
