  • 🏎️ Kimi Räikkönen, Fernando Alonso, Sebastian Vettel, and Charles Leclerc. These are just some of the drivers Ruth Buscombe has worked with as a Formula 1 race strategist, helping teams turn data into winning decisions where performance is measured in milliseconds. She also consulted on the Formula 1 movie starring Brad Pitt, co-produced by Lewis Hamilton, bringing real-world race strategy to the big screen. What’s next? At Open Community Experience in Brussels, Ruth will share insights from Formula 1 on marginal gains, teamwork, and data-driven decision-making, and what these high-pressure environments can teach open, distributed teams. 🎤 Join her keynote at #OCX26 👉 https://hubs.la/Q044ZPzF0 #OCX26 #keynote #Formula1 #opensource #conference #Brussels

*** Integrated projects to a full SDV SW stack vs. independent projects. *** That is my key takeaway from this weeks Eclipse Software Defined Vehicle Community Day hosted by T-Systems International (Thanks Christian Hort, Joerg Tischler and Hermann Hänle) Being a founding member of this initiative I've been at our very 2nd community day which happened at T-Systems in Bonn right after they became a fresh member. Those days I met a young community of highly motivated folks bringing open source collaboration to the center of the auto industry. The agenda was a collection of projects which where enthusiastically driven but didn't interact much with each other. Coming back from #Bonn this week I enjoyed an agenda which really showed how many projects are integrating with each other into a comprehensive SDV stack. And more and more of these projects released their 1.x version or will do in 2026 and Christian put it on real HW in a demonstrator in the meantime as well. I really love being part of this community 🥰 Personal highlight was to see participants from the very east and the very west proving that we've also successfully managed international growth since the last time we've been in Bonn. Special thanks to dk jung 🇰🇷 and Carlton Bale 🇺🇸 who probably won the longest distance travel price. But also thanks to everyone who made the effort to travel and contribute to the event! Finally it has been the first time of my life I've ever won something from a raffle. I personally don't play football well, but my little ones already tried the new football to get into world championship mood... Last but not least, thanks to the Eclipse Foundation team Sara Gallian, Ana Bukvic, Olga Timakova, Dr. Diana Kupfer and Christian Heissenberger. 💪 Next off: #EmbeddedWorld If you're in Nurnberg from the 10th - 12th march. Ping me for a SDV coffee talk!!!

  • "Software Defined Vehicles are no longer limited to passenger cars. The SDV paradigm is rapidly expanding into the commercial vehicle domain, and today many OEMs around the world are actively integrating SDV architectures into their platforms." #SDVCommunityDays

I recently had the opportunity to attend Eclipse Software Defined Vehicle Community Days at T-Systems International. The event was a great platform for collaboration, networking, and in-depth discussions around emerging SDV Blueprints. It was inspiring to exchange ideas with industry professionals who are actively shaping the future of mobility. One thing is becoming increasingly clear: Software Defined Vehicles are no longer limited to passenger cars. The SDV paradigm is rapidly expanding into the commercial vehicle domain, and today many OEMs around the world are actively integrating SDV architectures into their platforms. This shift represents a major digital transformation across the entire vehicle ecosystem — from powertrain and transmission systems to high-performance computing platforms and centralized software architectures. Leveraging open ecosystems such as Eclipse SDV, along with standardized APIs, toolchains, and software frameworks, is a key enabler for building scalable, modular, and future-proof vehicle architectures. Sooner or later, SDV systems will be running across vehicle platforms globally — because the transformation is already happening. Many thanks to T-Systems for hosting such a valuable and forward-looking event. #SDV #SoftwareDefinedVehicle #DigitalTransformation #Automotive #CommercialVehicles #EclipseSDV #Mobility

On my way back from the Eclipse SDV Community Day in Bonn — two inspiring days packed with insightful discussions and strong collaboration across the ecosystem. Yesterday, Oliver Kral delivered an excellent talk on “AI-driven edge analytics for Software Defined Vehicles.” He showcased a hybrid approach for analyzing vehicle data at the edge, powered by the latest 1.0.0 release of Eclipse Ankaios — a workload and container orchestrator purpose-built for automotive environments. Today’s breakout session focused on one of the key challenges in the SDV space: securely deploying new services to commercial vehicles at scale. It was great to exchange perspectives with industry leaders such as Traton, Cummins, Liebherr, and Daimler Truck. It’s exciting to see how Ankaios is increasingly recognized as an essential building block of the Software Defined Vehicle ecosystem — helping the industry tackle the next generation of SDV challenges with scalable, secure, and flexible deployment models. Looking forward to continuing the conversation! #SDV #SoftwareDefinedVehicles #EdgeAI #EclipseFoundation #AutomotiveSoftware #eclipsesdv

  • The final sessions of the day at Eclipse SDV Community Days at T-Systems International rounded things off with a strong focus on ecosystem clarity, performance, and practical blueprints for SDV development. 🗺️ Christian Heissenberger (Eclipse Foundation) presented an overview of the Eclipse SDV Ecosystem Landscape, clearly mapping which SDV building blocks are already covered by Eclipse projects. The session highlighted how the ecosystem supports onboarding and open source collaboration in regulated automotive environments. ⚡ Michael Pöhnl (ekxide IO GmbH) addressed the growing communication bottleneck in SDV architectures and introduced iceoryx2. As a zero-copy IPC foundation written in Rust, iceoryx2 enables predictable latency and high-performance data exchange for data-intensive, mission-critical vehicle systems, complementing projects such as Eclipse Cyclone DDS, Zenoh, and uProtocol. 🧩 Manuel Fessler (VECTOR Informatik) closed the day with a practical Eclipse SDV blueprint around the Automotive API Framework. By combining VSS, IFEX, S-CORE and other ecosystem projects, he demonstrated a platform-independent approach to developing and testing SDV applications, from model definition through to system integration. A fitting conclusion to a day packed with innovation, architecture and open collaboration shaping the future of SDVs. 🚀 #SDV #opensource #SDVCommunityDays
