Charts analysis: More than a year after its release, Rein Me In racks up highest weekly consumption

No.1 for the second week in a row, and fifth time in total, Rein Me In by Sam Fender & Olivia Dean racks up its highest weekly consumption since its release 57 weeks ago, increasing 1.57% week-on-week to 62,384 units (11 7-inch singles, 698 digital downloads and 61,675 sales-equivalent streams), eclipsing the previous peak of 62,104 units it scaled three weeks ago. Racking up its 40th consecutive week in the Top 40 and topping the singles chart further into its initial chart run than any single in chart history, Rein Me In seems to have successfully fought off the challenge of Iloveitiloveitiloveit, which slips 2-3 (54,951 sales) with its consumption going into reverse after nine weeks of sustained growth for Bella Kay. Rein Me In reached another landmark in the week, achieving double platinum status, with to-date consumption rising to 1,234,210 units. Its elevation coincides with Olivia Dean’s solo leviathan Man I Need going triple platinum. Climbing 10-9 this week with ACR-adjusted consumption of 28,456 units, and unadjusted consumption of 56,143 units, Man I Need’s cume climbs to 1,830,878 units. Also still in the Top 10, Dean’s Easy (To Fall In Love) dips 5-6 (33,601 sales). It is the 13th week in a row she has had three songs in the Top 10 but that sequence will end next week, with So Easy (To Fall In Love) falling into ACR, alongside Stateside (4-5, 35,443 sales) by PinkPantheress. Also fancied to end the reign of ‘Rein’, Swim started well for BTS, bottomed out and then surged anew to debut at No.2 (56,843 sales) in the final snapshot. The lead single from Arirang – the South Korean boy band’s first new album since 2020 – it becomes their fifth Top 10 entry, and biggest hit, surpassing their triumvirate of No.3s: Dynamite (2020), Butter (2021) and Coldplay collaboration My Universe (also 2021). CD variants of Swim pulled in 4,866 sales, while ten digital iterations of the track secured 30,014 sales. The latter releases have the same audio, with a band sleeve; separate sleeves with portraits of BTS members RM, Suga, J-Hope, Jin, Jung Kook, V and Jimin; an instrumental version and the album track all making contributions. Arirang album tracks Body To Body (No.28, 14,327 sales) and Fya (No.39, 10,465 sales) also make their chart debuts, raising BTS’ tally of Top 40 hits to 12, and Top 75 hits to 24. A further 10 tracks from the set are ‘starred-out’ under primary artist rules. Swim’s overall pure sales tally of 34,880 is nearly 22 times as many as the week’s second most sold title, Where Is My Husband! by Raye, and only a little less than the 35,807 that the rest of the Top 200 titles in the pure sales chart achieved combined. All 14 songs on Arirang are in that list, with combined sales of 36,978. The rest of the Top 10: American Girls (3-4, 36,454 sales) by Harry Styles, Fever Dream (9-7, 30,417 sales) by Alex Warren, Homewrecker (7-8, 30,105 sales) by Sombr and Lush Life (8-10, 28,226 sales) by Zara Larsson. Aperture (6-13, 25,048 sales) exits the Top 10 for the second time for Harry Styles. Raye’s new album, This Music May Contain Hope, dropped today (March 27), and surrenders its third and her 33rd hit in the form of Click Clack Symphony (No.18, 20,286 sales), which joins her former No.1, Where Is My Husband! (25-24, 16,633 sales) and Nightingale Lane (49-53, 8,287 sales). Click Clack Symphony also puts co-credited German composer Hans Zimmer in the frame for his second hit – his only previous chart entry, Spider Pig, reached No.23 in 2007, and was, at the time, the shortest hit ever at 64 seconds. Also new to the Top 75: Leak It (No.45, 9,432 sales), the second hit for female London R&B trio FLO; Wide Awake (No.46, 9,177 sales), the first hit for Dutch DJ Chris Stussy and British songwriter, DJ, artist and engineer Tom Did It (Thomas Horsley); In My Room (85-68, 6,733 sales), the viral second hit by New York singer/songwriter Julia Wolf, arriving 62 weeks after release; Rethink Some Things (No.71, 6,654 sales), the eighth hit for Luke Combs; and Dinner Party (No.72, 6,598 sales), the title track of Niall Horan’s upcoming fourth solo album, and 41st hit (including 29 with One Direction). Dominic Fike’s viral 2018 song, Babydoll, paused at No.13 last week, but now resumes its ascent, reaching a new peak of No.11, while increasing consumption for the 13th week in a row to a best-yet 27,703 units. His latest single, White Keys, climbs for the sixth week in a row, moving 18-17 (22,763 sales). Dracula climbs for the fifth week in a row for Tame Impala, moving 14-12 (26,722 sales), 25 weeks after debuting at No.42. There is also a new peak for: Choosin’ Texas (33-32, 12,095 sales) by Ella Langley. Overall singles consumption is up 0.98% week-on-week to 32,480,416 units, 5.75% above same week 2025 sales of 30,713,708 units. Paid-for sales are up 18.28% week-on-week at 289,520, 14.99% above same week 2025 sales of 251,787.

Charts analysis: Sam Fender & Olivia Dean return to singles summit in close race with Bella Kay

Dethroned last week by Harry Styles’ American Girls, Rein Me In returns to No.1 for Sam Fender & Olivia Dean, increasing consumption 0.59% week-on-week to 61,422 units (21 7” singles, 979 digital downloads and 60,422 sales-equivalent streams). Previously No.1 for three weeks, Rein Me In is in its 39th consecutive week in the Top 40 – the deepest into its initial chart run that any song has ever been No.1 – and its 22nd week in the Top 10, the last 12 consecutively. In all its previous weeks at No.1, it actually had lower consumption than Dean’s solo cut, Man I Need, and won out only because the latter had its streaming points halved as it was on ACR. Rein Me In won fair and square this week, with Man I Need’s unadjusted consumption ebbing to 56,771 units. Man I Need’s adjusted consumption is down too, but the track holds at No.10 (28,725 units), as it extends its run in the Top 10 to 27 weeks. Dean’s So Easy (To Fall In Love) rebounds 7-5 on reduced consumption of 34,491 units, holding down a place in the Top 10 for the 12th time in a row and 22nd time in all. Courtesy of the three titles named, Dean is only the second act in chart history to have three songs spend a minimum of 20 weeks in the Top 10, emulating Ed Sheeran, who completed his hat trick in 2021. Logging increased consumption for the seventh week in a row, Bella Kay’s Iloveitiloveitiloveit returns to peak, climbing 3-2 (60,233 sales). Harry Styles had three songs in the Top 5 last week, and scored his fourth No.1 with American Girls. All suffer substantial dips in consumption week-on-week with American Girls retreating to No.3 (46,343 sales), Aperture ebbing 4-6 (31,673 sales) and Ready Steady Go, being the week’s only Top 10 departee, sliding 5-15 (22,898 sales). Rebounding below their peaks are Stateside (6-4, 37,826 sales) by PinkPantheress, Homewrecker (9-7, 30,941 sales) by Sombr and Lush Life (11-8, 29,212 sales) by Zara Larsson. Fever Dream (8-9, 29,183 sales) by Alex Warren completes the Top 10. The highest of four new arrivals in the Top 75 is The Visitor (No.11, 27,404 sales), the fourth hit for 20-year-old singer/songwriter Sienna Spiro, whose most successful song, Die On This Hill, peaked at No.9 last November and rebounds 32-29 (12,699 sales) this week, while her No.45 hit Maybe advances 60-52 (8,023 sales). Six weeks after the title track of his upcoming fourth album, The Great Divide, peaked at No.10, Noah Kahan’s second excerpt from the set Porch Light, debuts at No.19 (19,919 sales), becoming his ninth hit and fifth Top 20 entry. All I Did Was Dream Of You (No.60, 7,343 sales) is a brand new song from Beabadoobee. It is her fifth hit, and the second for featured guests, Los Angeles alt-pop quartet The Marias. The final new entry is Doesn’t Just Happen (feat. Dave, No.66, 6,682 sales), a track from James Blake’s new No.3 album, Trying Times. It is the second collaboration between Blake and Dave, following History – a No.9 hit last November, taken from Dave’s 2025 album, The Boy Who Played Harp. Doesn’t Just Happen is Blake’s fifth Top 75 single, and Dave’s 45th. After entering the Top 20 for the first time last week, powered by the remix featuring Jennie from Blackpink, Dracula climbs for the fourth week in a row for Tame Impala, moving 17-14 (23,527 sales), 24 weeks after debuting at No.42. Dominic Fike’s viral 2018 song Babydoll pauses at No.13, despite increasing consumption for the 12th week in a row to a best-yet 25,632 units, while his latest single White Keys continues to climb, moving 19-18 (20,986 sales). Ending its record-breaking stint of five weeks at No.35, Choosin’ Texas elevates to a new peak for Ella Langley, moving to No.33 (111,936 sales). The track is currently No.1 in America. There are also new peaks for: New Religion (43-41, 9,922 sales) by Bebe Rexha & Faithless and Talk To You (53-44, 8,876 sales) by ANOTR & 54 Ultra. I Just Might is the introductory single from Bruno Mars’ new album, The Romantic. The track, which debuted at No.6 and peaked at No.5, holds this week at No.12 (26,033 sales). 10 of his singles have charted higher but I Just Might surpasses them all on the radio airplay chart, where it debuted at No.1 in January, and has now spent 10 weeks in a row at the summit. It is the first song to have a double digit run atop the chart since Miley Cyrus’ Flowers in 2023. The only song to spend longer at No.1 in the last decade is Can’t Stop The Feeling!, No.1 for Justin Timberlake for 11 weeks in 2016. Overall singles consumption is up 1.25% week-on-week to 32,166,470 units, 5.12% above same week 2025 sales of 30,598,496 units. Paid-for sales are down 3.20% week-on-week at 244,784, 0.62% above same week 2025 sales of 243,266.
