Over-the-air troubleshooting:
No audio: If you are experiencing a loss of audio on any of our channels, check your television settings for SAP (Secondary Audio Programming) and ensure it is off. Many television programs have a secondary audio embedded into the signal to allow for viewers who may need it. If viewers have that feature enabled on their TV and they are watching a program that does not have a secondary audio track, it will be as if there is no sound during the program. Our newscasts, for example contain a secondary audio track that, during normal newscasts is identical to the primary track, but during emergency coverage, contains audio mirroring emergency text on the screen. If you have SAP enabled, you will hear audio on The Valley’s MeTV during our newscasts, but not at any other time, since the feed from MeTV does not contain a secondary audio track.
Lost signal: If you lose any of our channels, you may need to rescan using your digital tuner or conversion box. Occasionally, if a tuner loses a signal, it needs a reset to ‘find’ it again. Rescanning for local channel usually corrects this problem. Occasionally we need to lower our signal strength for tower maintenance; rescanning after such a situation may be necessary. Additionally, you may be located in an area that is affected by seasonal changes, such as leaf-out/leaf fall or lake freezing/thawing. Provided you’ve been able to receive the channels in the past, rescanning will most likely bring them back. The websites, www.tvfool.com and www.antennaweb.org can be very helpful in determining signal reception based on your location.
Closed Captioning: All of our newscasts and breaking news contain closed captioning for the hearing impaired. The majority of our programming also is closed captioned. If you are unable to view CC from your TV or if it is not in English, you should consult your TV settings.
Cable/Satellite subscribers: If you are experiencing signal trouble and you subscribe to a cable or satellite company for your TV reception, you should contact them and alert them to your concern.
Persons with disabilities who need assistance with issues relating to the content of this station’s FCC public inspection file should contact Erik Pedke at (802) 923-4621 or closedcaptioning@wptz.com. Questions or concerns relating to the accessibility of the FCC’s online public file system should be directed to the FCC at 888-225-5322, 888-835-5322 (TTY), or fccinfo@fcc.gov.
