Listen to our Teen Podcast

Piece by Piece is a podcast that puts Philly teens behind the mic as researchers, writers, hosts, and producers, exploring art through their own questions, conversations, and perspectives. In Season 1, A Cacophony of Artists, teens explore the rich lineage of American art in the exhibition A Nation of Artists. In talks with experts, researching artists, and spending time with the artworks, our teen podcasters discover what it means to be an American artist.

A Future of Artists Exhibition: June-August 2026

Philadelphia has long shaped the history of American Art, and its future took form in A Future of Artists. This exhibition brought together works made by Philadelphia-area high school students under the guidance of local working artists: Jenna Avellino, Andrew Christman, Cindy Lozito, and Tad Sare. Gallery interpretation within the show is authored by undergraduate art historians from Tyler School of Art and Architecture. Drawing inspiration from A Nation of Artists, the Teen Art Show presented diverse perspectives rooted in place.

The project also extended beyond the workshop setting: almost 2,000 postcards, distributed to local high schools, invited broader participation through instructional videos by teaching artists, featured below.
