What travelers are saying
- Ben FBloomington, IN2,158 contributionsHighly, highly touristy, but you’d be amiss not to walk around here a little bit. The water views are one-of-a-kind, and many yummy food choices are at your disposal. San Francisco’s piers are some of the safest places in the city, so no worries about safety, at least during the day. I found it to be pretty clean as well. From Pier 39, you can also take ferries to Alcatraz or marine animal tours if you so desire.Written April 20, 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Bonnie CCorona, CA1,762 contributionsI came to view the annual Holiday Lights along the harbor. I have read about this for years! They also have an annual boat parade on one weekend. This is all family friendly. Lots of free parking and very festive.Written December 11, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Thomas VOakland, CA19,793 contributionsWe came here for lunch on a very hot day and did a little walking around after eating. The cool breezes from the Bay were most welcome, as were the splendid views of the Golden Gate and the Bay. The long dock was locked and closed; don't know why. Some parks along the Bay, and the Marina where you will find the sailboats.Written September 5, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Michael A7 contributionsThe Camping experience was quite good. Having full service fifty amp hookups on the water is unusual. However they have doubled their prices and now charge a resort fee and utility fee. $19.50 for a pool noodle at the gift shop and $9.40 A gallon for gas at the gas dock. - Helen BSan Francisco, CA10 contributionsThe crew at Donner Lake Marina are truly wonderful, and the boats/equipment are top notch. We made a fairly major error in scheduling, and they could not have been nicer or more accommodating. The kids and adults had a blast on the lake. Looking forward to seeing them next year!Written September 3, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.

- Thomas VOakland, CA19,793 contributionsThis is a small marina with lots of apartments around it. The views of the Bay and the City are superb. - TheLeongOhanaUnited States7,903 contributionsWhile waiting for my to go dinner, I walked the length of the harbor all the way to the beach. The docks were full of all sizes boats that extended off in the distance.
My walk was perfect timing as the sun was setting over the horizon and the sky was a beautiful palette of orange, yellow and blue. the solitude of the beach was relaxing after my drive down from LA. Far off in the distance I could hear a repeating fog horn?? The moment was broken with the arrival of a tow truck.
After returning to the docks, boat lights were gradually turning on for those occupants staying on board. It must be nice having bars and restaurants right there.Written October 17, 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
