TruEats
From humble beginnings in a small village in India, our family began its journey in search of holistic health and better nutrition.
In the early 1900s, in a small village in India, a boy named Kanshi Ram was diagnosed with diabetes at age 13. His doctors told him he'd be lucky to see 30. Western medicine was scarce in rural India at the time and had little to offer him — so he turned to something older: Ayurveda, the 3,000-year-old "Science of Life," and the discipline of good food, daily movement, and a calm mind.
He built his days around simple lentils — chickpeas, moong dal, urad dal — and fresh vegetables. No shortcuts, no gimmicks. Just real food, real consistency.
He lived to 75.

Those learnings stayed with his son, Surinder Kumar, focusing his education and career to food and nutrition. He earned a PhD in Food Science and Nutrition from The Ohio State University, and spent four decades inside the food industry's biggest names — Unilever, Quaker Oats, Frito-Lay, PepsiCo, Bristol Myers — before retiring as Chief Innovation Officer at Wrigley.
Surinder spent a career learning how food companies make things delicious, craveable, and scalable. And he spent his retirement asking a different question: how can he take the knowledge and wisdom of his father's nutritional journey and combine it with everything modern nutrition science had taught him?
Ten years of R&D later, TruEats was born — a family company he now runs with his son, Daven Kumar, as co-founder.

Our mission hasn't changed since day one: create simple, nutritious, genuinely tasteful food that nourishes the body, mind, and spirit — by combining ancient wisdom with modern nutrition.
What's changed is how many ways we've learned to live that mission out. Today that shows up in two product lines, built for two different tables that can still be enjoyed by everyone:
Where TruEats began — inspired directly by Kanshi Ram's own diet. These mixes are low-glycemic and diabetic-friendly by design: gluten-free, no added sugar, rich in protein and fiber, formulated to support healthy blood sugar without asking anyone to give up pancakes, brownies, or cupcakes.
Our answer to a different question we kept hearing: can clean, simple ingredients still be delicious and functional? These mixes strip the ingredient list down to five (or fewer) real, recognizable ingredients — still gluten-free and no added sugar, but also allergen-friendly, built for anyone who reads a label and wants to actually understand what's on it.
Different problems, same standard: nothing artificial, nothing you can't pronounce, and no compromise on taste.
Close to half of American adults — 117 million people — live with at least one preventable chronic disease. We can't fix that with a baking mix. But we can make sure that the food on the table is never the obstacle: naturally lower in the things that work against you (fat, simple sugars) and richer in the things that work for you (protein, fiber) — without anyone at the table feeling like they're eating "diet food."
TruEats is made by Arora Food Group, LLC, based in Flower Mound, TX, and proudly NMSDC certified. Three generations of the same idea: food should nourish, not just fill.
