About 1 in 6 adults — and 3 in 10 under 30 — used AI for mental health information or advice in the past year. Documented false answers and harmful reinforcement are among the issues prompting state action, but policies vary widely. More in The Monitor:

4 in 10 LGBTQ+ adults — including 6 in 10 trans adults — say that their insurer delayed or denied needed care in the past two years. That compares to 1 in 4 non-LGBTQ+ adults. Our new poll has the details: on.kff.org/4y0pRuZ
A bar chart from KFF displays data on insurance coverage delays or denials for LGBTQ+ and transgender adults. It indicates that 40% of LGBTQ+ adults and 26% of non-LGBTQ+ adults experienced such issues. Among transgender adults, 61% reported these challenges. Specifically, 32% of LGBTQ+ adults, 45% of trans adults, and 21% of non-LGBTQ+ adults had denied coverage of a service or prescribed medication, while 30% of LGBTQ+ adults, 53% of trans adults and 17% of non-LGBTQ+ adults experienced delays in their ability to get a service, treatment, or prescribed medication.

New KFF polling shows LGBTQ+ adults face greater challenges in accessing and affording health care compared to their non-LGBTQ+ peers. Cost challenges are especially high for trans adults and LGBTQ+ adults who are younger, those with lower incomes, and those without insurance.
Chart from KFF showing that 6 in 10 LGBTQ+ adults have missed necessary care due to cost or other reasons in the past year. The chart shows three categories: trying to get health care but couldn't find a doctor or get appointments (LGBTQ+ 28%, non-LGBTQ+ 17%), skipping or postponing care needed due to cost (LGBTQ+ 43%, non-LGBTQ+ 26%), and skipping or postponing care for other reasons than cost or appointment availability (LGBTQ+ 29%, non-LGBTQ+ 18%). Each category compares LGBTQ+ and non-LGBTQ+ percentages, with LGBTQ+ having consistently higher percentages.
