Examination and Desk Copy Policy

Books priced below $45 are available at our discretion, limited to three books per year, per instructor.

Many titles are also available as eBooks via VitalSource. If you’re on the move or need to make a fast decision, this is a quick and easy way to receive your exam copy.

If you need a desk copy for a title you have already assigned in your course, we will provide one complimentary copy for every twenty books ordered.

Accessing Course Resources

Many books suitable for courses come with additional online resources or media. For instructors who have adopted these titles in their courses, and for their students who have purchased the current edition of those titles, this media is available free of charge.

1. Register or Log In
Before you can access course materials, you will first need to register an account.
If you already have an account, login before continuing.

With an Instructor Account, you can:

  • Request access to online course resources that accompany a title
  • Authorize accounts for your Teaching Assistants, so they can access online course resources for titles you have already adopted

2. Request Access to the Materials
If a book includes online supplements, you’ll see an “Access Course Materials” link on the book’s page.

To request access:
Click the “Access Course Materials” link to go to the course resources page.
Click the “Get Access” button on the course resources page.


Provide the details about your adoption or assignment of this title, then submit your request after you have filled out the details.

  • For Instructors: Access is granted after review of your request by Yale University Press staff.
  • For your students: Access is granted immediately upon submission of the requested information and a correct response to any security questions. All security questions can be answered with the current edition of the book.
