Schema validation failed with the following errors in Angular project

I have two similar Angular projects (both on Angular 20) and currently one of the projects when I run the npm run start command I am constantly getting the error below. Should I remove the package-lock.json file and node_modules folder and run npm i again? I am not sure at this point on what to do regarding this error message as when I do research on it and try the solutions I still get the same results.

Error: Schema validation failed with the following errors:
  Data path "" must have required property 'buildTarget'.

I literally have both angular.json files that look the same but I am clearly missing something.
