💡Last week, MPP Stephen Crawford and MPP Monica Ciriello sat down at Innovation Factory with founders from nine companies across our network. The topic was one that comes up constantly in our community and rarely gets a room like this: why it is so hard for a smaller Canadian tech company to sell to its own government. Founders talked through procurement processes built for much larger vendors, and through the practical side of artificial intelligence sovereignty, where data is allowed to live, who owns the compute, and how intellectual property holds up on a public contract. A massive thank you to both MPPs for coming to listen, and to all the founders who brought their valued opinions and experiences to the table. That is what makes conversations like this impactful. Here are some snippets from the day!👇 Chris Pye — Sentinel R&D Maryam Emami — AI Materia Ryan McCann — Alvian Networks Tony Zare — Providius Milfred Hammerbacher — s2e Technologies Inc. We're still buzzing after such a great evening at the Innovation Factory LiONS LAIR Competition! A huge congratulations to all of the founders who took the stage at this year’s competition. Ten finalists had the opportunity to showcase what they’re building in front of the region’s innovation community. We were especially proud to see several members of The Forge community among this year’s finalists and winners: 🥈 Sensible Vascular took second place, earning a $15,000 prize for their work developing a fully integrated thrombectomy system designed to improve stroke treatment. 🏆 Tiny Tube Bio took home the People’s Choice Award, earning the vote of the crowd for their next-generation micropipette technology. 👏 And a big congratulations to LIVESENS on earning a spot among this year’s Top 10 finalists and representing the Forge community on the LiONS LAIR stage. Making it to the finals is an accomplishment worth celebrating in its own right. And finally, a special congratulations and welcome to Grand Prize winner NewGen Health! We’re excited to share that they’ll be joining the Forge Business Incubator program next month, and we can’t wait to see what’s ahead for the team. It was great to see so many members of our community come out to cheer on the finalists, connect and celebrate together. The strength of this community goes well beyond the companies competing, and nights like this are a great reminder of that. Finally, a big congratulations to our friends (and office neighbours!) at Innovation Factory on another fantastic LiONS LAIR. It’s always fun to see what our partners have been working on, and even better when so many members of our shared entrepreneurship community are there to celebrate together. Congratulations to everyone who participated! 👏🦁
